  1. Best Buy is clearing out the Garmin Colorado 300. Got the last one in Northern California - list price was $399... clearing them out for $159.
  2. What is the Cachmate? I have a Palm TX but haven't been able to figure out how to use it for geocaching. rickmccusker@sbcglobal.net
  3. Did that! By getting near the cache and pushing the "button" on the lower left side of the screen, it displays a "compass" and distance reading...
  4. Well, maybe your problem is that it is a GPS made for automotive use... It's not really designed for finding a cache. It will help you find the best roads to get there, but you need a hand held unit for actually finding the cache. P.S. Something to try if you want to get caches loaded in, use a program like EasyGPS or GSAK. I don't actually know if this would work, but it would be worth a try. It might give you all the info just like a PDA, but it might not do anything for you.... I guess you'll have to try. The real problem is that Garmin promotes it as fine for geocaching!!!
  5. Take a look at www.mountguys.com. I bought a Garmin nuvi 260W 10 days ago. I bought a spare (stock suction cup) mount so I can switch between my wife's car and my truck, but had a heck of a time finding a suitable mount to attach to my Honda Shadow Spirit motorcycle... until I found the Mount Guys webpage. The can fix you up with just about any type of mount you need! The stock suction cup mount works just fine in my wife's 2007 Pontiac G-6 and in my 2005 Dodge Ram - but I'm in Calfornia and it's now against the law to attach anything to the windshield. So the disc to attach to the dash works just fine, provided you scrub anything (such as Armorall) off first. Do use some alcohol as the final cleaner. Since California leads the nation is dumb laws, it's just a matter of time before the other states also outlaw suction cup mounts attached to the windshield.
  6. Bought a Garmin nuvi 260W 10 days ago. Browzing through the quick guide, I discovered you could download cache information direct! Joy!!! But, it downloads the "GC" number and the coordinates... and nothing else! So I loaded most of the same caches by the old fashioned manual method into my Sportrak Pro. Lo and behold, the nuvi 260W was consistent.... off by at least 75' compared to the Sportrak Pro. In addition, standing in one place didn't help, either. The 260W shifted all over the place, while maintaining the same distance. It would tell you 125' North, then it would say it's Southeast, then West... So, if you're a newbie looking for a good GPS, the nuvi 260W is really good for getting you there, but you're gonna bang your head trying to find the cache with it.
  7. Pardon my newness to the forums... but I see a problem with the YJTB's already - there will be THOUSANDS of them that will be retrieved from caches and kept as souveniors. I'd bet on it. Who wouldn't want a cute little yellow die-cast jeep of their very own?
