  1. I recently ruined a droid and bought an iPhone. I was pretty disappointed when I download the official iPhone app. I was previously using a droid program that would give the options for navigating to the cache. One of those options used the navigation app on the phone to give you turn by turn directions.. Pretty useful for caching in urban areas. Has anybody heard if the official app will every get a feature like this? It's just annoying that a $9.99 app doesn't hold a candle to a free app that you can only get on the droid marketplace.
  2. Update - I just noticed mt typo. I meant the GC is going to my brother. I now have my 610 and I love it. It is an awesome unit!
  3. Thanks for the in-depth review. I have the GC and will be ordering this one soon. The is going to my brother, whom I have recently introduced to geocaching. Once again, GREAT review!
  4. Exactly! It's so frustrating. The damage was done awhile ago, I just don't want to pay the money for such a small issue. Literally the only thing wrong with it is the connection to the battery because of the corrosion. If I could find one of those little metal pieces I could probably fix it.
  5. Has anyone ever had battery acid damage to a Garmin 60CSx. Garmin wants $110 flat rate to fix it and it is something I could do myself. I just need to order a part. I've been looking everywhere and can't find anything. I don't think Garmin sells individual parts either. Any help would be much appreciated! BTW the part that is messed up is the back half of the unit.. One of the little prongs that connects the battery to the inside has been eaten away by the acid.
  6. How's it going everyone? I'm fairly new to geocaching and thought I would stop in to say hi. I cache around Southern Indiana, specifically the Evansville area, with a friend of mine. We call ourselves the Cache$Bros. I think I'm becoming addicted I'd be glad to hear from anyone in the area. Take care everyone!
  7. Thanks for the reply! I've uploaded all of my geocaches to my GPS straight from the sight. I just try upload field notes again and only one of them uploaded. I don't know what's going on! Hopefully it will work itself out.
  8. I am having some trouble uploading field notes. I was wondering if anybody else was experiencing this problem. It is possible that it is my GPS, but I think that is unlikely. When I try to upload field notes, I browse for the file, open the newlogs.txt, click upload field notes, and nothing happens. If anybody has any suggestions let me know! Thank you!
  9. @Renegade, I like the theory of cache evolution haha. That's great! I'm gonna post on here more often. It's fun seeing what everyone has to say. Thank you to everyone for your responses!
  10. That reminds me. I need to go check on mine. Back to the topic though, like others have said large containers in an urban area are to easy to get stolen. In LA we have a huge urban park with plenty of space to hike, and hide large caches. You might see if you have something like that close to you. Then go hide one your self. I'm planning on doing just that! There are several nice parks, including one with a nature preserve. I'm going to place a couple this weekend!
  11. You all made some great points. I like the idea of hiding the type of cache you would like to find. Now that I think about it, the micros are often the most difficult/challenging to find, which makes them fun as well. BTW, the bomb squad comment is hilarious, but probably true!
  12. Hello Geocachers! I just wanted to see if anyone was feeling the same way I am. I live in Evansville, IN. It is a fairly big city and there are a ton of caches around. However, I have discovered that 99% of the caches in my area are micros or small caches. I would really like to see more people put large/medium sized caches out there for people to enjoy. I am fairly new to this, but I plan on contributing to this whole situation. A friend is coming in town this weekend and we plan on placing on ammo can and a medium sized container in the Evansville area. I encourage geocachers to place more caches like these. They are the most fun for me and I'm sure many people would agree.
