  2. Thamk-you very much. The question about if it has a red sign has not been answered but as yet we have been ok. So I will set my lovely cache this weekend,,,,,,Multi!!!
  3. Being only new to GEOCACHE I don't know why future Virtual's and Webcam's aren't allowed....comments please...????
  4. Many thanks. Any points about No.2?
  5. Two points to this thread. 1) Where can I get the big green stickers that go on the side of an Ammo Tin marking them as GEOCACHE? 2) Out and about I have come across 2 or 3 caches now that still have the Red Diamond warning signs on the Ammo Box. Does this sign have to be removed for legal/safety reasons (I'm thinking YES)? If you come across a box that still has the hazard markings should you report it to the cache owner or is this just being petty? Thanks
  6. Personally speaking, I did a multi-cache last week where I walked a mile down a path to the micro-cache, got the cache co-ords and came back down the same path to find the "big cache". I find it very humorous that I have actually just passed the objective, especially if it is pretty obvious once you know what you are looking for. Providing that the walk is nice and worth it I see no problem. In fact, on this occasion it was good because it was getting late in the day and I did not want to walk miles from the car so it worked well. The only down side for me is that when I walk on a multi-cache trail now I instinctively look left and right along the trail to see if I can see a likely cache location. If I was to spot one en-route I've no doubt that I could not help myself and investigate. If I discovered the "big cache" before other parts of the multi that would defeat the object. I know that a certain degree of "self-policing" to stop this is required, but I hope you understand what I mean.
  7. Wonder if anyone can help. I have an e-Trex Venture and cannot download co-ords from website. I have followed all the instructions and installed necessary software. Have checked connection on Garmin Test Page and no conflicts exist however when I go to download from geocaching.com I get the error message "Windows Error Code: 21 The device is not ready. Path: F:\Garmin/gpx/myData.gpx" with a drop-down menu with the Garmin at the bottom. I re-select the Garmin and click send to GPS and the same error message is displayed. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to resolve this. The e-trex is connected via the com 1 port and not USB. Thanks Problem resolved. Thanks
  8. Could you listen to anything by Johnny "Cache"? maybe something by The Searchers? or even that 80's disco hit for Adventures of Stevie V "Dirty Cache"!!
  9. It's gotta be the sun! My question "How many fire-fighters were there in the Trumpton Fire Brigade"?
  10. I don't normally drop something on the same trip that I collect it on. Means that all trackables end up at home with me when I'm logging at the end of the day. If you do drop it straight away and then forget the tracking number, you'd need to ask the owner (by following the link from the cache page where you found the bug/coin). They will have the code you need. Of course, if there's more than one similar trackable in the cache, you'd need to remember which one you moved... Another reason for not dropping straight away because things could wind up very confused if you ended up with the wrong tracking number Many thanks On this occasion, mainly because it was raining so heavily and I knew that the trackable needed to be moved on quickly, I didn;t pause for thought. Indeed, I take your advice that it wouldbe nice to take the trackables home at the end of the day. Thanks for the info... Ted B
  11. There was a thread on this a while back. Don't know if any have joind since then oh, thanks for the reply I have only been aware of geocache for a week or two. Seems like a fun network with nice people so I thought I ask if anyone has any close-encounters with the "celebs" of this world. Sorry if this thread has been exhausted...I'm a newbie, so didn't know!
  12. Wonder if anyone knows the answer to this one. Today I did 3 caches. Picked up a Geocoin from one and dropped it at the next. Stupidly I didn't take the code off the coin and when I got home I couldn't log it.... So, much later on, I went back to the cache I dropped it in (in the dark, mud and rain!!) and obtained the code under torchlight. If I ever did this stupid thing again (lesson learnt incidentally!!) is there any way of logging a trackable without the code?
  13. Just wondered, has anyone stumbled across the rich and famous?
