Thanks you for the reply. This link has some great info in it, I looked it over and am thinking that it may be to difficult for me to try, I may have to just forget it and do with what I have. I did not think that this would be that complicated, I figured that there would just be some software that would do it for me. I used Delorme TopoUSA and drew some paper maps to use at camp. Thanks for the input though, it really was helpful.

Surely someone can help a newbie???

I have just purchased a rino 120 and a rino 530hcx, I know what I want to do but do not know how. I want to use my computer to draw trails and footpaths that I have made around my camp, then I would like to download the topo map and these trails onto my GPS so while out hunting I can see where I am in relation to the different trails on the handheld unit. I am aware of how to download the topo maps to the unit as well as routes and waypoints, my problem is I don't want to transfer the trails as routes but would like them to be part of the map so they show up at all times when viewing the map. I am purchasing the Garmin 2008 Topo software but can I accomplish this with just this software?
