  2. There is a lovely little place called ****terton in Dorset..... Andy
  3. Congrats Nzbuu. (And also to PD for downing her chalks and picking up a GPSr again) Andy
  4. Good thinking !! Thanks..... my brain just needed a shake ! Andy
  5. A similar tack here. I have just received a log from a finder who said the log-book was missing. As the GC.Com site stipulates that at the very least, the cache should contain a logbook should I disable the cache until I can reinstate it ? In the meantime..... open season for those wanting to increase their cache-counts !! Andy
  6. I voted 'no' as well as there are the admins, private threads and email should we choose to stifle the evolution of a conversation. Andy
  7. I have moved two caches a couple of hundred yards away from their original locations but have maintained the original logbooks. I would not mind, in fact would even persuade an additional 'find and log' as the hiding places are vastly different. There are a few caches that I revisit but I usually just add a note saying that 'I dropped off a TB' or 'cache waterlogged' etc. Just my addition to the barbecue. Andy
  8. I found this somewhere....... Main Entry: 1lack·ey Pronunciation: 'la-kE Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural lackeys Etymology: Middle French laquais Date: 1523 1 a : FOOTMAN 2, SERVANT b : someone who does menial tasks or runs errands for another 2 : a servile follower : TOADY I do actually have the same description under my nameplate at work !! Andy
  9. I kept getting lost trying to find diving-sites so I bought a Navman sleeve for my iPAQ. A year later, I wanted to know how the GPS system worked because I was asked by a six-year old and didn't know the answer....... ..... The rest, as they say is a very pleasurable addiction. Andy
  10. I hold my hand up and admit that sometimes I make comments that, once re-read, could be misconstrued. If it wasn't for the 'emoticons' there would be a lot more discord here. I think it's always sad when hard work hits 'Pharisee's Wall' but the common-sense approach that (from a non-caching POV as well as my own 'cacher opinions') the GAGB stands for will win through. In the meantime, I would be happy to take the hamster's advice and drink more beer and talk about caching face to face. Andy
  11. I think it might be worth mentioning that, now that the GAGB are starting to structure a committee together, we will have a common voice to allow the sport to develop in agreement with landowners on a wider scale rather than on a per-cache basis. Check out www.gagb.co.uk for more info. There are a few flames in there but.... hell..... the ideology seems sound. Andy
  12. We have done two 'Micros' but reverted the micro to be a stage on the way to the final 'ammo-box'. The difficulty is with the micro and the kids in us get to play swapsies at the 'relatively' easy final stage. I like the challenge of micros but trying to read the log book is a nightmare ! Andy P.S. Bob..... thanks for the plug !
  13. We have an iPAQ with all sorts of cache and mapping / routing software but we love our yellow etrex for its pure simplicity. Andy and Dawn (Still working on the tagline.....)
  14. Well Done. Likewise, please let us know how we can help. Andy and Dawn (Still waiting for a witty tagline)
  15. I have used the stencil font and have cut out all the letter segments that have straight edges. It's going quite well and with no injury so far. I have used standard card from WH Smiths. Takes a bit of time but that's probably because I have the dexterity of a bowling-ball. Thanks Again Andy
  16. Well done you obsessive maniac. There are words (and restraints) for people like you Andy
  17. Thanks Lizzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for the offer and Lost in Space for that invitation for me to mutilate myself. I will try cutting myself first. Results on an ammo can near me shortly ! Andy
  18. Well done Gaz..... Like what O'Mally said...... the gory details please, the highs the lows, the arrests, the voyeurisms, etc......... If we can't cache we love reading about it. Andy
  19. Many thanks for the replies. I did try the 'by hand' painting but it was just a collection of white splodges ! Cutting things with knives is not something in the 'Cuthbert Handbook of Survival' Pid as we are probably the clumsiest couple on Earth ! I shall try the website and if it looks good we will take a spray-can cache-checking with us and post the results. I was just a bit worried about some of the comments from our US cousins where their caches had sparked off scares, etc. Andy
  20. As well as the 'Geocache' sticker, I have seen a couple of ammo cans with 'Contents Harmless' neatly stencilled on the side. After trawling through various websites I cannot find one that will cut me a cardboard stencil that I can simply spraypaint onto the side of an ammo tin. Any recommendations ? Andy
  21. While on the subject of changing cache information, what is the boundary limit if a cache needs to be moved slightly ? I moved one of mine about 150m and was not able to adjust the coords that far. Andy
  22. Coming back from the Hampshire CC meet in July, our Smart ST routing software took us through an MOD firing range.... red flags and all. We didn't realise until we came to the closed gate at the other end - 5 miles down the road with a big sign on it saying 'Danger - No Entry'!!!
  23. Did you miss a letter out somewhere long the way Alex ??? Andy
  24. Can we have a laugh and see all these guesses when the 'cat's out of the bag' ?? Andy and Dawn (Where did all this wine come from ?)
