  1. I make the drive from Hamilton towards Guelph quite a few times but today I was just a passenger. Looking out the window, I saw a billboard but under the billboard attached to the post was a sign with the GeoCaching logo. The friend driving is not into GeoCaching so it's not like I was about to have her stop the car, but I'm curious. Can anyone tell me what this sign is for? If you make the drive yourself and have never seen it, it's about half way between the 401 and the 403 traveling North on hwy 6 just before the first gas station - it's about 50 yards off the road attached to a billboard.
  2. Wicked! It totally works! USB Mass Storage Mode is the best feature in the world. Thank you !!!
  3. Well, you can. But when you can get cards for $5, I don't know why you'd bother. I was at the electronics store today and a 2GB Micro SD card, plus the adapter, plus the USB connection would have been over $50 plus tax. Some factory direct stores have Micro SD cards for under 10 dollars.. so if I can use my GPS to upload files for my cellphone, I would rather do that.
  4. Oh wait... it took a while to find it... 5+ minutes. Let me try this...
  5. I've managed to get the GPS into USB Mass Storage Mode but I don't see the new Removable Disk Drive listed in My Computer...
  6. I do not have the SD adapter - the micro SD came with the Garmin. How do you change the setting to USB Mass Storage Mode?
  7. I have a Garmin GPS Map 60CSx and a Micro SD card in it. Is there a way I can use the GPS and the USB cord to upload music onto the SD card and then use the SD card for something else? ie. cell phone use? Thanks in advance!
  8. I live about 25 minutes from downtown and I will be in Toronto next Tuesday/Wednesday. Please contact me with information.
  9. Oh, I didn't know I already had that installed. I tried it and it works! Perfect - thanks !!
  10. When I go GeoCaching, I usually only upload 1-2 files and it has added up. I just don't get too crazy with it so I want something that's quick. If I was paying for a premium membership, I could see paying for GSAK but I don't. I downloaded EasyGPS and it works really fast - just the way I wanted it to. Thanks.
  11. I have gotten to the point where my GSAK is giving me 200 second nag screens and I really don't use the program enough to pay for it. Is there another program that is similar that will just allow me to upload caches into my GPS under GeoCaches? If so, please let me know what it is called or where I can download it. Thanks in advance.
  12. I have come across some caches in neat locations but nothing that I would think, "Wow, that's so cool!" Does anyone know of a few caches in the Golden Horseshoe/GTA they would like to link me to so I can check them out? Thanks!

  14. Okay, so I was a little too excited to GeoCache when I first bought my GPSMAP 60CSx and I didn't fully read my manual when I got it so I figured the compass would just do it's thing. I had a problem with the compass locking up at times and then I'd find myself walking backwards or holding the GPS backwards so I knew where to walk next. It seemed to fix itself when I got back into the car at a fast speed. I calibrated it earlier this evening and I'm wondering, should I have problems with the GPS locking up like I had before, or am I good? If it does lock up, should a quick calibration fix the problem while I'm on the trails? Thanks in advance.
  15. Perfecto! I like giving my old toys a new home. I made sure to write in the first log book to take care of my giraffe! hahah I think I'm off for some GeoHUNTING tonight so I'll see what my city has in store. Thanks for the advice!
  16. I spend the week in London, ON doing my first real day of GeoCaching. I've one here and there, but I set out with a bunch of points in my GPS and decided to hit them up. I thought I would grab whatever was around the house I was holding on to and toss it in the cache (even if I didn't take it, kids might like to own it). I ditched a giraffe (which actually had some memories, but I thought it was fun to give a new home) and a spider (for hallowe'en) and a little bobble-head turtle a friend got from Hawaii. I was just reading so topics about trading swag and I feel as though I could be trading better things -- one thing that troubles me is of the 4 caches I have been to where it was large enough to trade, there was just plain old junk... Mcdonalds toys, pennies or small plastic pirate chips. I would feel kind of bad leaving something good and not taking anything. I'm going to start taking a messenger bag with the usual odds and ends (small toys I've had growing up other people might want) but I would also like to know what are some good things to trade I can pick up before setting off geocaching? What have you left and felt good about letting someone else have? I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times so I apologize, but it's always good to bring up the issue.
  17. If you are using the send to gps button on the cache page you will have to push the find button on your gps then highlight waypoints then push enter and they will be there. If you are using the garmin POIloader then on the gps push find button highlight custom POI and hit the enter button. Perfection! It works! Now, I was reading someone else's post about downloading waypoints and there are programs that download hints also. Is there a program I can use for my GPSMAP 60SCx? EDIT: Ooooooh!! It looks like they are using these programs on their Palms.. I see I see..
  18. I would say first read the book that came with the gps... i have the 60cs not csx... but i'm sure they are similar.... the easiest way to find them is go to the map screen... zoom out and you'll see them.. you can hit the page button til you get to the menu where the icon says goecache.... enter that one and there they are.... I did the thing you said for zooming out on the map, and I found the points, but when I hit page, there's no "GeoCache" icon... unless I'm missing it.
  19. I just bought a GPSMAP 60SCx and I have only tried GeoCaching once but I entered all the points in manually. I downloaded the plugin to send cache points to my GPS but everytime I download it, I don't know where it goes. Can someone give me a short beginners instructions to using this GPS for Geocaching. Thanks!
  20. Oh sorry, I thought I was just being helpful. I can remove the post - if I can figure it out.
  21. For anyone who is Canadian (or American, and doesn't mind paying a little more) I found http://www.gpscity.ca/ today and bought a REALLY nice unitl for a FRACTION of the price I found them online and in store. I had an address problem and their customer support fixed it up right away and sent out my unit special delivery. Great retailer ! Good luck shopping.
  22. Ahhh, I see now. Are 500 Waypoints a big difference than the untis with 1000? It seems like a big jump from 500 to 1000.
  23. I don't plan on using it for anything else than GeoCaching. This unit: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=224# Would be really nice without colour -- colour makes it cost twice as much.
  24. I am ready to buy my first GPS unit. The stores near my house have a variety of GPS units, but a lot also carry them in Black and White. I would rather spend the money to get a better unit, but not pay for the colour -- but if colour is something that is useful for GeoCaching, I would rather spend less money on a smaller unit. Any advice?
