  4. Tambe, you already know I'm in! Can't wait to get these in hand!!!
  5. I saw this coin when Gardengorilla had the preview pics up from the mint. Between the time of the pics and the sell of the actual coin I lost this thread, and then life and geocaching got in the way of the forums for a tiny moment. Well I participated in the birthday mission this year, and when I opened my package ... this coin was inside. I ended up laughing until my sides hurt, and could not explain to the family why this coin was so funny! (I had just rediscovered this thread and had been working my geocoin budget trying to work this one in. ) It is truly a beautiful coin, and I am can now say I have the honor of owning this coin! Thanks to Gardengorilla for creating this mini work of art and to fuzziebear3 for sharing it with me!
  6. I opened my mission on my birthday, and WOW! Thank you so much Jennifer! I received so many nice things...but my favorite has got to be my awesome messenger bag with butterflies - it is perfect for me! I was just telling my daughter about how my old geobag was hurting my neck/shoulders from being too big and heavy...and look what arrives on at my door! I have already gone out caching with it, thank you so much. In addition to my geobag, I also received cookie cutters, beads, a cookbook, a teakettle paperweight, magnets, bath goodies, a ready made geocache, and more!! I love the coins too! Everything is so wonderful. Here are some photos of all of my wonderful gifts...thanks again, Jennifer Cutter! (Sorry it took so long for the pics, my daughter had to help me get them online.) Yay! Between you and me, the geobag was my favorite too. It's ironic how when you really need something it has a habit of appearing when you least expect it. I must give credit for the idea of the geobag and the design on it to my mom! As we were walking through a store she spotted the individual materials and presented them together stating her idea (It's amazing how mothers seem to get smarter the older we get ). As for the other gifts ... I didn't know if you had ever been to South Carolina, so I tried to include things that reminded me of the smells, food, and the south in general. When you have a chance to look through the cookbook you may find a recipe or two that are traditions in our family ... (submitted by Marie Thompson). I am so glad your package arrived safely, and that you enjoyed the gifts! I hope you had a great birthday and you were able to get a little caching in!
  7. The first coin that I ever had was a Gold Sea Turtle which was a gift from Chickahominy! I received this coin long before I actually began collecting, and thought I had lost it in the twilight zone known as my house. In fact I came across this coin not a hour before reading this thread (spooky huh ... ) It is still unactivated (having just rediscovered it ), and brings back the memory of that day. The fact is I owe my entire geocoin addiction to Chickahominy, because she introduced me to the Guardians of the Night series which were the first coins I bought! It's been down hill from there. So a big thank you to Chickahominy for creating a geocoin monster !
  8. Wow! That is a nice coin. Congrats chickahominy! I am so happy you finally have a design that you like. Keep me updated on the progress, and I look forward to seeing these in person!
  9. Thank you Penny and Kona for the birthday wishes! I was correct in that the package I received on the 3rd was my birthday package, and I did get some caches off my list yesterday. When it was time to open my package, my family grinned at me and handed me the GPS! Now the first thing you need to know ... mom cannot work a GPS, so I was a little scared I would NEVER find it! Second thing you need to know ... my brother is EVIL when it come to picking on me (although can you really blame him? He did learn from the best, me! His very loving older sister ) So how does this apply to my package??? Well the coordinates did not exist! At first I thought the GPS was simply messing up ... then I heard the laughing. Looking up I see darling baby brother with his hand covering his mouth. I handed him the GPS and glared. With a sigh we walked to the dryer (the dryer!!! Not only did I look there, but I had put a load in the night before!) and he pulled out the package. Upon handing me the package he had the nerve to look INNOCENT! Oh well. Now that the venting portion of this post is over.... I would like to give a big thank you and virtual hug to fuzziebear3 for my wonderful package. I laughed when I opened my coin (you know the one ) and then laughed again when I read your note. The goodies were wonderful, and I loved the coin & book about the Wright brothers. You were correct as well about NC. I have been lucky enough to travel to the location of the first flight. Thanks to my father (who loves history) and my brother (the history major) I have somehow become addicted to learning of the past. I have never been to your state, so I enjoyed reading your letter and eating the yummy, yummy goodness (even if I had to keep stealing it back from the two guys mention above ) Everything inside the box brought smiles, and I thank you for your generosity.

I love history and learning about other cultures! This was truely an interesting and educational search! I enjoy how you used to coat of arms as it was prior to 1252 in the coin design, very nice touch! I believe this coin is a wonderful tribute to Portugal, her history, and her people.
