Interesting Fact: Officially ... EMS (911 system as most citizens know it today) in the US is only a little over 30 years. EMS has always been developed and improved through the military. Roman artwork depict solders carrying wounded solders from the battle field, and during the Napoleonic Wars Jean Larry transported the wounded in covered carts. Both helicopters and fixed-wing medical transports were first used during wars (the Korean then World War II). Prior to the early 1970's funeral homes provided the "ambulances" to local communities and those that arrived to help did not require certification. Today national standards have been set and continuing education is required. EMS continues to strive to provide the best possible care to all patients.

Another Part II: Humans do not begin to taste food until their saliva has begun to break it down. As for what coins I like ... Kinda hard to choose ... I like the turtles, the tree, and the silver with the green gems the best. However, any coins would be welcomed if I were lucky enough to get one.
  7. Depends on who I'm caching with! If I'm with Trio-4 ... then "Found it" and "Daaaadddddddy, Can you grab that for me cause ... Eww" may generally be heard (I've gotten better about dirt and buggies, but gotta give dad the chance to play knight in shining armor) When caching with fellow local cachers it's usually "No need for a flashlight on this one ... It's right there" If I'm the last to find it ... an "I hate you" and "I'm going to the dark side ... they'll show me the cache AND give me cookies" can be heard throughout the woods.

  10. I am so glad I finally found this thread! I received a close encounter coin a few months ago, and like others was a bit confused about where it had come from. Kept wondering if I had signed up for something and forgotten about it (possible with the last couple of months I've had). Noticed the number but could never find a thread on it, and everytime I attempted to start a thread ... I got sidetracked (stupid shiny things that move!!!) Anyway, a huge thank you to the mystery sender! I did receive the coin and it is beautiful. I am so excited to have received it and will treasure it. I'm only sorry I have not expressed my gratitude sooner. I send out a virtual hug to the sender ... where ever you are! I shall be boarding "unit # 024 now!!!

Part II: When one sneezes all body functions stop ... even the heart!
  12. In general I agree with everyone: 7 months is a long period of time to wait. However due to recent experiences I can understand the possibility of delay. For some my understanding may require a bit of explaination so ... In October of 2009 I began the journey from EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) to become a Paramedic. The very first thing we are told in the beginning of class is not to plan ANYTHING. No marriage, no divorce, no children, etc ... After the first couple of months I thought the instructor had overreacted because other than having to attend class there was no change in my activities or family life. However, I soon learned that it was I that had underestimated my class. By March I had no spare time. I was either working (24hr shifts at a time), in class, doing clinicals at the hospitals, or (on my only days off) doing the required ride time on an ambulance. There were times when I didn't make it home or see my family for several days. During the worst period of the class ... I was not home with the exception of 9 days out of the month and most of that was at night sleeping. I will forever be thankful that when our EMS stations were built someone had the forethought of putting in showers and washing machines. With everything going on and the constant running around days became mixed up and dates passed without notice. It has only been in the last month (as we are coming to the end of class) that I have been able to slow down and return to the geoworld. We still have 2 months left to go and then the dreaded testing portion, but the stress has been greatly reduced (at least until test week)!!! Yes, 7 months is a long time. However there may have been a valid reason for not noticing that the package may not have arrived. They may have forgotten they ordered the package until recently running across the email communcations (been there and done that - although I usually remembered when the package arrived at my house ) Tsun, I have never had a problem with any of the coins I have ever ordered from you ... so I have no doubt that the package was mailed. Thanks to all the beautiful coins you have designed and sold, I believe you have the confidence needed to follow your gut instinct in regards to this issue.

  15. I would like to send out a huge thank you to my secret santa! I loved the unique and lovely Christmas ornaments. They found themselves front and center on our Tree. The M&M's started out as mine, but then my 2 year old nephew found that I was eating them. After tasting only one he decided he loved them. With one little "peezz" he had them and off to show my dad what he had gotten. Although, I must admit ... he forgot all about them when I was opening the coins! He plopped himself down in my lap and began "helping" me unwrap them. They were absolutely beautiful. I really love the flag on the back of the coin, and the "Found it smiley" pin had us all laughing. I ended up having to bribing my nephew into giving back my pin and coins! While looking at them he said "pretty ... mine." Like earlier, with this he was once again running to my father to show him his prizes! I'm not sure who enjoyed the mission more: me (receiving it), my nephew (eating and running around), or the rest of the family (watching me chase aforementioned nephew around the house). Once again thank you so much for the thoughtful mission, and an afternoon of laughs! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year!
