  1. Again, not familiar with your device but my Delorme and Garmin units have the ability to "delete all" from within the units software and menu choices. I would think that your unit would have something similar. If you know how to locate those PQ's from a computer and delete them, that will work also. The key point to all this is that in your PQ settings from GC.com, you need to make sure that you do not have the option to run your found geocaches within that PQ checked. Just have the unfound one checked and whatever other settings you want.
  2. I am not familiar with your unit but if you have marked your caches as found on the website, they should not be put into future PQ's as long as you have them set up that way. In the PQ window make sure you check the box for caches you haven't found and leave the one for have found unchecked. You can now delete all the caches, found and unfound, from your unit and replace them with a fresh PQ.
  3. Your computer will not recognize the HCX the same way as it does your Dakota. In GSAK, have you set up the HCX from the GPS setup window? When you select "Send to GPS", are you choosing the HCX from the drop down menu from the bottom of the pop up window? These are the only things I can think of as to why you might be having a problem.
  4. It did not come easy. When I initially adopted her, she would start out on the trail and then gradually follow me off the trail into the bushes and longer grass. This created the big problem of stickers and ticks all over and in her hair. With reassuring words and the ever important me returning to the trail, she began to trust that I would come back. I have been out her view for as long as 20 minutes and the only thing she has done is stand up and look for me from where I have left her.
  5. I go with my Golden Sadie. She is very good at waiting on the trail as I venture into the bushes. She will lie down and wait for me to return.
  6. I only remember 2009. I do remember someone asking for it to opened again in 2010 and it did not happen. I would prefer something different personally.
  7. I think around 20. It was a lot of micros that I prefer not to do but I was caching with someone else who wanted a friend to go out with them for the day and I volunteered.

    Delorme

I'm not sure how to do the cache load and erase thing but to get satellite imagery, you will need to purchase the map plan from delorme or amazon or wherever for around $29.00. Once you have that, you can download the satellite maps to your topo software and then load them onto your unit.
  9. I actually did this on a cache that I happened to be a FTF on. I got home and posted my find on line and then people started posting notes on the cache page as to how it was possible that I found the cache before the publication date. The cache owner emailed me to let me know that I had posted the wrong date for my find on his cache and he was getting emails about it. I modified my post and added that I was logging some caches on GC.com and the date field was still set for the previous day when I had found those caches. Sometimes these things happen.
  10. People who post their caches can do whatever they like to let others know that there is a new cache out there. Beta testing a cache for a cache owner or being there when the cache was hidden are common ways for people to sign a log before the published date. These people generally do not claim the cache as FTF and will usually post their find after someone else has logged the cache online. I wouldn't really worry about it too much. Just go out and have some fun.
  11. Yes, via the gc.com app. Just open the "saved" tab and download your PQ directly to the unit via wifi. You now have all the information on your iPod touch just as you did on a PDA but better. There is also another app out there that someone mentioned in another post that you can import your GPX files into but I don't know what it is.
  12. We only have about 100 caches, too. I think that is what we are going to do. I am just afraid that they will delete the logs thinking they were fake. None of the logs we made were deleted. We even had to post a few onto PM caches and they aren't PM members. None of those loge were or have been deleted either.
  13. I had to do the same thing when my daughters wanted their own names. We had to re-log 100 caches. We just simply stated in our log that, "_____ just started their own account and found with ao318". Took a little while but all worked out ok.

    GSAK and WHY?

I use it top sort my finds and my daughters. It enables me to run a comparison of our finds and then lists all the ones I have found and they haven't. This way, I am able to just load up the caches they haven't found with me and we can go out together and they can now find them. I update this list by running "my finds" PQ to ensure that the database is current.
  15. Here is just a tip for those that have Auto GPSr's or utilize their hand held for driving. DO NOT put your address in the unit and mark it as home. Thieves will take the unit and look for the "Home" waypoint. All this does is allow them the opportunity to find your house and possibly rob it also. This holds especially true for your vehicles GPSr. Just think if a thief steals your car, you have a great GPSr in there that will direct the thief to your home, where they now have your car and your garage door opener. They then enter the home via the garage, load up the goodies, and drive away with all of your stuff and your neighbors are none the wiser because it was your car that drove into the garage. Just be careful what you store on your GPSr's. Edited for spelling
  16. The sorting thing is only an issue when you try to access it via the menu settings vs the find button. If you try to view your caches via the menu button and then choose caches, it rebuilds and takes a little while to do. If you just hit the find button, the caches refresh very quickly.
  17. I am not familiar with the Oregons but I have done something similar my CSX and Mapsource. I believe the Oregons can use Basecamp, also have not tried but heard is similar to Mapsource. What I have done, is I imported my caches into the mapsource program and then from the program I created a route in the order I wanted to find the caches on my drive. I then imported that route into my CSX and then followed it from the unit. I don't know if this would be the same process for the basecamp software but I think it should be similar. I hope this helps. One other thing, I believe if you are going to drive this route you will need mapping software that allows for this feature like City Navigator, Topo 24K, or the free ones.
  18. Same here. Hint please and not one of those cryptic ones that only a few people can figure out.
  19. Yes the 62s is fully paperless. But I will be honest in that I still look at my iPhone app if I am having problems locating a cache because it will have the most current info. For example, I tried to find an easy one and couldn't locate it. I looked it up on my iPhone and found it had been disabled that morning after I had loaded my gps unit up. So the iPhone does have it's use, even if you have a fully paperless unit.
  20. I use GSAK and have a 60CSX. I have, through GSAK, set it up so I see the cache name instead of the GC# when it is listed. I have tried that whole POI thing and never really liked it and it really didn't give me all that I needed because sometimes the hints were longer than the area provided to store them. I found it best to use a PDA and Cachemate Software to store all of my info for paperless caching. The only bad thing about cachemate was that it didn't load photos of the cache page. This worked very well for me and was ok except for having to carry 2 different things for caching. I no longer use the PDA for 2 reasons: First, I now use my iPhone to store all of my information on the cache pages and it is also nice to check it once in awhile to get the most up to date information from either the website or the app. I also carry my phone with me wherever I go so I was able to decease the amount of things I carry by one. The second reason being, I upgraded my laptop to a a Windows 7 64 bit system. From what I have read here on the forums, my PDA will not work with that OS. So, you do have options to utilize paperless alternatives to a great unit but the unit itself is not paperless. If you have a smart phone that you can utilize the web or download apps that can store your GPX files, that would be your best bet for paperless.
  21. Do you have the DVD's? If so, the unlock code should be on the cases somewhere. The software is locked to a specific unit. What you can do, call Garmin and let them know you just purchased a used unit and the software that was registered to the unit. Find out if the unit and the software are still registered to the previous owner. If they are, you will need the previous owner to un-register the software from their Garmin profile or contact Garmin directly via the phone to do this. Once this has been done, you can now register the unit and software under your profile and they should give you a new unlock code for your unit and software. I had to do something similar with a used Venture HC that I bought. I hope this helps.
  22. Hello, I'll try and some questions from my own experience of using the software: It should. I have version 2010.30 on my PC, with the most current version of mapsource. You won't be "forced" to install any maps to your unit, but you will be forced to unlock the maps to one specific unit to place those maps onto. I would venture that to be your 60CX as I have mine unlocked to my 60CSX. Once you unlock the maps, you can install whichever segment you want to that particular unit. I do believe that the 24K topo maps from Garmin are routable and they are not locked to a specific unit. You can use them on any Garmin product. This might suit your needs better if you plan on upgrading your unit any time soon. I hope this helps.
  23. This is the set I usually get. I prefer the square containers. They tend to be easier to hide. I've used both, and I think I prefer the sizes of the round set better. But like I said...either works for me. I have used both the round and square and I think both work great as long as they are not too big.
  24. Just saw this in one of my magazines today about the ability of the SPOT device to communicate with your smartphone via bluetooth. I have one of the older original SPOT's, maybe it's time to upgrade .
