  1. For a little more effort you could give them a set of clues and hide the GPSr in a cache that you hide somewhere. Make them work for it
  2. Should I write myself a letter? Do I have to have written permission?
  3. The kind of person who would leave trash in a cache are the same types whose caches are placed in trash heaps (or have degraded to such a point, they might as well be). The only way to defeat these people is to stop spending our time at their caches and to clean up other's caches that they trash. The nail could have been a junky cheap swag item, or it could be someone's unmarked swag item. The trouble with unmarked sig items is sometimes they are seen as junk. All it takes is a little ziploc baggie (you can get about 100 for a buck at the craft shop) and a sticker or a tag that you print out to make the item meaningful. The nail might be from a carpenter, construction worker, or someone who owns a bar called the "Rusty Nail". I'm not saying it is, but you can see how something you thought was trash could actually be a nice personal piece of swag if presented properly. I keep saying this on the forums hoping that I will convert people to this method of thinking....but who knows. The empty bubbles container was probably full when they put it in. Those things leak like crazy and make a mess. I have a few rusty nails. Actually they are the small dated spikes I removed from railroad crossties (No, not that were on the railroad). On the head, they have the year stamped on them, i.e. 31 for 1931 and so on. They are cool and are worth a few bucks to some people. Hope it wasn't a "nail" like that. Very good thing to keep in mind, one mans trash is another mans treasure, however sometimes trash is just trash
  4. I am thinking now maybe an elaborate multi. Not sure, it will be my first hide, I kinda wanted it close
  5. I have converted one over and it performs well but not nearly as well as the mini I baught with the LED alraedy in it. Not sure what the differance is but whatever.
  6. They used to have this thing called a "talking house" around here. It was used for realestate. It would list all the details about the house you were parked in front of. It played on an AM band you just had to tune in to like 1600 or something like that.
  7. LOL I think you would have to trash your GPSR if it sent you all the way to the neighbors house, and you could not see any neighbors around my house with a 1000X Telescope. I live right smack dab in the middle of 850 acres.
  8. Thanks for all the help. it was a single letter one was a "u" and another one had an "A" There was no indication in the stash note or online that I can remember. I do not remember which one it was. I may have to go back and find out.
  9. I wouldn't trust that attribute. How many times have you asked for directions and you get something that is not exactly truck friendly? More than once I've been told to go through downtown where not only are big truck prohibited, but having to navigate the streets is a nightmare. Most non-drivers have no clue what it takes to get 70' of vehicle around town. No, a "Truck Friendly" attribute would be less than useless, it could get a few folks in a bind. Sad part is alot of times that kind of help comes over the CB. just goes to show you have to take everything with a grain of salt
  10. Not mine. My tinfoil hat and pikachu electric shock ray will protect me. As long as my GPS works, I'll be happy. Oh man you are screwed, The tinfoil hats are no longer the accepted means of protection from the end of the world, you need a special armadillo hat.
  11. I found a couple of caches that had a single letter taped to the inside of the lid. Can anyone tell me what that means? Also, what is a letterbox?
  12. has anybody ever hidden a cache in their own yard? or know of one. I have a very large chunk of property and was thinking of hiding a few on it.
  13. just walk around scratching your headand say " I know I burried my wife around here somewhere"
  14. I saw the icon on my GPSr and googled it. Between my natural need for treasure and my competitive nature, the rest is History
  15. I have a question that is kinda on kinda off topic. What do you do with a Tb that you find in a cache that has completed its goal. Should you leave it untill another goal has been created or move it for miles? Just did not see the sense in starting another thread.
  16. T I agree, onr of my constant goals is to raise the geocaching swag standard. This cannot be taught be another set of rules, only by example. I always try to give what im not ready to let go off. That is a very good way to look at it
  17. you are on the right track. Now you can have fun trying to explain geocaching, and why its not litter
  18. do you own the land? if not, then its a safe bet you need permission
  19. Then don't find them, don't get me wrong the only thing I can think of a micro for is to boost numbers. I have left some short logs, But they are always more than some random letters
  20. LOL your post sounds so familiar. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and their goal is to clean out all the caches they can find. it is great fun to watch as their little faces squinch up as they try to decide what they want more. Any way enough on my brood. I am a Hunter. I love the hunt and everything to do with it. Wheter its sneaking into a mall parking lot to score a LPC or treking into the woods for a quiet clearing. After I find it its over for me. Thats my game. P.s. Good luck over there Smejk, I do not envy you guys who do what others cannot.
