  1. On the Tag Cache page, you mentioned, "Your job as "IT", is to find the cache using the coordinates you have been given and any map YOU create." What do you mean by "using...any map YOU create?" I'm just a little confused by that part of it. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  3. whoa! I tried to delete a post on this thread that I didn't want, and the entire message disappeared from the forum list!
  4. When poking around the Elk Grove cache, I found several points of interest: On my way there, I saw a gravestone marked "Orville Sheldon" (either the person or related to the person that Sheldon Rd. and High School were named after). On it, there were several stones painted white and the message "Thank you" painted on them as well. I made a note to myself that I might want to research the name a bit. Later on, there were a set of headstones from the Gage family. Now this was interesting because ever since I moved to the Elk Grove area, I would wonder why there was a "Gage St." and brushed it off as a typo. Apparently, the Gages were deeply rooted in the area as the lot was fairly large. Finally, a few paces south from the cache site proper, there were some headstones from the Beattie family, and of course, geocacher that I am, I wondered if there was any relation to our very own Kimbo. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  7. Argh! Ok, that's two reasons for me not to go up by your area. I was going to pick up the ammo boxes, and hit a few caches in the area while I was there. No wonder I haven't been able to get a hold of Rent this weekend. He's in Bakersfield! And... Now I know I'm not going to visit Avery's Pond until I get an appropriate walking stick. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  9. The dinner pictures can be found at my website: http://homepage.mac.com/the19th/g2k2 I'm am such a putz! I have Rent's pictures all ready to go, but I just haven't gotten around to putting them up. *bonk self* --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  11. This is something I would definitely participate in. Currently, managing waypoints is one of the few reasons remaining that I boot up my PC for. 1. I mainly use a PowerBook G3 (FireWire), but I have access to various newer Macs at my workplace (G3 Blue&White to iMacs and iBooks to current G4s) 1a. I am using a Keyspan USB-serial adapter (forgot the model, I can check it when I get home) 2. Mainly Mac OS X 10.1.3. I try to avoid classic/9.x as much as possible. 2a. Mac OS X version? Yes, Cocoa if possible (think of the services possible!) 3. GPS V, eTrex Legend, Mag315 4. Perhaps if the application were able to download satellite photos and overlay the tracks/waypoints onto it. There's a windows app (I can't remember the name off the top of my head) that did something like this. 5. $5-10 is well within the range I would be willing to offer if the application suits my needs - if it's Mac OS X based, it would be a big plus. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  13. Just out of curiosity, what does "ikitai" mean? It sounds Japanese. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.
  14. There are some female cachers out there, but I'm not sure if they go alone. I know McIrish usually goes out with her clan, and there was another 'cacher who went by the name of mav that used to hunt frequently, again, I don't know if her family went along. Heck, lone caching for guys can sometimes be frightening as well. Check out my entry for Beaver Glen. I've also had my Jeep broken into when searching for another cache. Don't get me wrong, I still primarily cache by myself, but I feel I can rest a little easier when hunting with others. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  16. I just started getting back into my ol' geocaching groove after several months on inactivity, and I came back to the site finding that the forums had been revamped. This led me to find out that there was now a "Charter Member" option. It didn't take long for me to pay the $30. I felt that the hours that I spend hunting caches was well worth 30 a year. That's 20 dollars less than most new video games that I'll probably stop playing in a few months anyway. Again, this is simply because I enjoy the activity, and feel this is one of the many ways to show my support for it. must... refrain... argh... dead horse! --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  18. Your llama pic above reminds me of one of my ol' dogs... It was a mutt, small, white. I remember calling it a cotton ball with legs because that's what it looked like. Anyway, yes, I think I'll change the order and go with two (2) small and one (1) large ammo boxes. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  22. I'll join in. Can I get two large and three small for now? I know it's not a multiple of four, but if it causes too much trouble in billing, I'll be happy to forego one of the small ones. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.
  23. Well, I guess I was concerned about the "let them sit in the sun to dry" part. In any case, my shoes aren't that dirty yet. It's trying to get the stickers and their spines out. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now.

  25. Looking to start a conversation among Sacramento area cachers here. Any Sacramento area cachers watching/reading these forums? I've been trying to seed the... whoops... I didn't want to recycle that much of the old thread! Anyway, I heard a few people at the dinner saying they were going to go out this weekend... Heck, even during this Spring Break! What's news? I am definitely going out this weekend, what with the great weather coming up.
