  1. As stated above, I carry TBs with me on my travels around the United States. Many time I have time to find only one or two caches, but neither may be large enough to hold the TB that I have. To be fair to the TB, and its owner, I log that I placed it and then picked it back up. After all, the TB did make the fair mileage trip with me, but was unable to stay at that particular location. Now as for someone that keep dipping the same TB (not their own) but not actually placing it somewhere, as stated above, a polite email is usually all it takes to get it dropped into a cache somewhere. TBs and geocoins are one of my favorite reasons for geocaching. They almost always have a unique story to go along with them, and I love to be a part of contributing to that story. Enjoy, DonB!
  2. Minnesotan in Issaquah for 4 days wants to do some caching. I'm looking for someone that could show the caches that they think are "the best", "the neatest" or the "most unique" in the Issaquah area. My cell phone, that I will have on starting Sunday AM is 320.279.1118 I will have my own car, and all mornings until 3 PM to go out hunting. By the time I leave on Wednesday night, I'd love to know that I had found some of the best in the area. Also, being from Minnesota, I generally do not check back into the forums, so please contact me by cell any time after Sunday AM. Sincerely appreciate it, DonB! Mora, MN

    Ohio Cachers

I just wanted to say thanks to Ohio Geocachers for the finds that myself and "lildc321" have found on our one day trip here. We entered the state by Akron and headed up to Canfield. Now we will head straight West in the morning to end up in Tipton, Indiana. We've had a great time here. Thanks. DonB! Mora, MN
  4. On this same topic, correct me if I am wrong. 1) We are not supposed to place caches in State Parks. 2) We should not be required to purchase, or pay, for anything to get to the cache. During my recent trip to the west coast, I was required to pay 3 separate fees in order to find many caches. These were all "area use permits" at $3/each. There was no way to the caches without paying the permit fee. Also, I know of 3 caches that were just approved a week ago in a State Park that requires a state park pass (with fees) to get it. What am I missing? What don't I understand yet? DonB! "A Happy Cacher"
  5. Albuquerque cachers, I had a great 3 days in New Mexico. Found all caches I looked for except 1. Found some great, and weird travel bugs too. My only disappointment is even with multiple emails out to cachers in the Albuquerque area, I was unable to find someone to go caching with. Also, I was puzzled by the fact that most of the caches I found in the Albuquerque area were not camoflaged at all. Simply a container, sitting on the ground. One of them was a large blue tool box sitting about 5 feet off the walking path, with no coverage or cammo whatsoever. I was amazed. Lastly, I realized that to have a good hide in Albuquerque, you must find a bush, or a tumpleweed, and set it under there. Out of the caches I found while I was there, only 2 were NOT sitting on the ground under a bush. Again, I was amazed. Happy for the easy finds, but amazed. I look forward to the next time I can take a trip to your area. Maybe next time I'll find a better guide than this time; I knew nothing about the Albuquerque area. Now, I know a little more than last time. Waiting for the final bits of snow to melt here in Minnesota, DonB!
  6. Hey fellow cachers, I will be in Albuquerque from this Friday through Monday, and have a lot of spare time to do some caching. I will have a rental car, and will pay for all gas, if someone would be willing to guide me around the area finding "the best" caches. My email: donbursell@gmail.com My cell phone (call after 10AM on Friday): 32-279-1118 Thanks DonB! Minnesota
  7. I have also left a version of my business card in caches, but I date it when I place it to mark my find. On the back of my card, I have a grid of famous people's names. After placing it in about 25 caches, another cacher finally took it and contacted me, wondering what the names are. As it turns out, I have placed the grid of names there as a magic trick that I can perform over the phone, or email, when someone has the card in their hand. If you ever come across a DonB! card (the picture is of me on a tiny unicycle), grab it, and give me a call or an email. I'll perform the trick for you too. DonB! Minnesota
  8. I like the Signature swag the best. I don't want Dominoes Pizza magnets, nor is my son interested in loose rhinestones. I leave a unicycle keychain, or various NEW magic tricks, in the caches that they will fit in. In my own caches (not too many yet) I leave an origami dollar bill for the FTF, and even leave them in unique caches that I've found that I really enjoyed. I have also left my calling card with items I leave, and on the back there is a grid of 12 names. After my 17th find that I left one in, a fellow cacher called me to inquire about the names. As it turns out, it is a puzzle/magic trick that I was able to perform over the phone for him, and it made for a unique contact with other cachers.
  9. I'm amazed at some of the comments in this topic. Read the rules and intentions of this game, and follow along... If a "muggle" places something of distaste in a cache, there is no control over that. HOWEVER, when a cacher feels it's their "right" to place adult matter into a cache, I simply would say FIND ANOTHER HOBBY. If you enjoy trading condoms with other people, joy a "sauna club". If you think finding those things is fun, get a partner and stay at home. Better yet, indicate on your listing that there is distasteful materials in your cache. To the cacher that said something similar to, "If you don't want your kids to see it, leave them at home", GROW UP. You are only showing your own immaturity to the situation and sport ("I want to do this, and I don't care who doesn't like it"). Look around you. The world doesn't revolve around YOU. You are one tiny part of it. Do something that betters the entire world around you, not just YOU. Wait, give me a minute. There. I just played 30 seconds of violin for you. Brought tears to my eyes. The main reason I enjoy this caching so much is that it gives my family a lot of time to spend together, outdoors, hiking, talking and hunting. We enjoy the coins, travel bugs, etc. Maybe you need a wife and children of your own to realize the impact little things can have on you and your FAMILY. I love this sport. And I hope it remains something that I will enjoy for a very long time. Oh, and the weirdest thing I've found near a cache so far is a big pile of deer poop. Make for a quick log-in and escape. Now THAT's funny!!! DonB!
  10. I just hid my first yesterday, and it was authorized at 8 PM. Someone found it this morning by 2 PM! Dang. What I am looking for is the text to download that says, "You've found this, intentionally or not. Here's what Geocaching is all about...etc." Is it available on the site somewhere, or do you all type out and print out your own? DonB!
  11. Thanks for the information. I did what you said, and already have it loaded on my newsletter/blog. Thanks for the quick info. DonB!
  12. I've seen websites with a "banner" or box-like ad, advertising Geocaching.com, with a FIND #count, and a HIDDEN #count (stating how many I've found and hidden). Where do I find the url or html code to add that to my blog and website?
  13. Greetings from a newbie. TopGear told me about this strange fascination with Geocaching, and now I need someone to get me started/hooked on it. There are some caches hidden in the Mora area, but I have yet to buy a GPS, not knowing what I should be looking for (the Forums were a little help, but not enough) in one. I just want to go along with someone to find a cache, and get hooked. My son & I are both gearing up to add this to our already busy schedules. TopGear promises me it will so much fun it will become a regular feature of our many travels around the country (I usually put on about 42,000 miles/year). Email me if you can, and we'll talk about a time that would work out. DonB! unicycle@ncis.com
