  1. I personally couldn't care less if people want to log stuff that they didn't find. It really doesn't affect my enjoyment of the hobby at all since it's all about the thrill of the hunt for me. I really don't get caught up in the numbers.
  2. Hey everyone, I was wondering if a few people would be willing to help me out seeding a few TB's around the country. I'll explain the idea once you message me, but I basically want to spread 5 TB's out on the coasts. Ideally I'd have a few people on the east coast and a few people on the west coast that are fairly spread out from each other. Anyone that can help me out and lives in the appropriate locations please let me know! Thanks! Chad
  3. If you didn't jot down the tracking number, be sure to message the owner of the TB. They'll most likely give you the TB # so that you can retroactively record everything correctly.
  4. Thanks! I may use something like that and put it inside of another container to camo it better since it's slightly visible if someone's really paying attention. That should hide it pretty well!
  5. It's outside. The slot that it will slide into is protected from the top, so it will be very protected but still needs to be watertight. Room for a log sheet only is fine, although slightly thicker to accommodate coins would be awesome. So yeah, something like a CD case but waterproof.
  6. Hey guys, I have a cache location where I need a container that is less than 1/2" thick. The container can be as much as 6" long and 3" deep, but I haven't seen anything as thin as I need. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! Chad
  7. While I've never done a geocache in a storm sewer, I think exploring them is really fun! Storm sewers are also relatively clean since they basically get flushed every time there is a significant rainfall. Here are some pics from a storm sewer adventure with one of my friends: http://www.mattkirkland.com/spelunk.html For some reason, I always figured it would be against caching guidelines to put anything in a storm sewer. However, if it isn't, I would really love to place a storm sewer cache.
  8. I first heard about geocaching from some folks over on BoardGameGeek. My first hobby is board gaming, another hobby that most people don't know much about! Now I have both an indoor and an outdoor hobby!
  9. Besides the whole climbing a tree thing, sounds like a fine location to me. I was just going to say, cemeteries were basically used as parks at one time. Many of the cemeteries on the east coast were designed as parks for people to enjoy. I love cemetery caches, as it's really cool to check out all the neat old headstones. I'm personally planning a multi that uses information from headstones throughout the cemetery in order to find the final location.
  10. The problem is that the first two stages of my multi aren't really micros. The "worksheet" that people need to do is a 4"x6" slip of paper, and I'm putting a roll of 20 in them so that I don't have to refill them constantly. I *think* they'll be waterproof since the entire flashlight is one solid plastic mold, and am baggying the paper just in case a little moisture ends up finding its way in. For less than $2 a piece, I guess it's worth a shot!
  11. I came across one of these plastic flashlights at Target today and picked a few up to use as cache containers in a multi that I have set up. All the first two stages need to hold are some 4x6 slips of paper that contain instructions to the next stage. Seems like a good cheap solution to a rigid plastic container with a screw cap! I'm planning on supergluing the switch in place and caulking around it, as that seems to be the only part that might not be waterproof. Do you think they'll work well? My main concern is that some varmint will chew the plastic open, as that's the reason I need to replace the containers in the first place. I had previously used short lengths of metal pipe with plastic caps, but this plastic is much harder than the previous plastic I used. http://www.shop.com/Eveready_Battery_3251N...ml?sourceid=298
  12. This is Thumper, our 2 year old Pitbull mix. He's helped me set up a few caches out at the dog park, although he gets distracted when he has to play with all the other dogs!
