I saw the personal tbs, but don't really plan to use it that way. I won't log this one myself, but was wondering how others could log it. So if I am reading your msg right. when logging a TB there is a 'Discovered' option, that doesn't put it in their possession then so that they have to double log that they dropped it off? As for GW4 well I am just getting back into the fun after a long time away. I did see it and realized it was a bit too late for me to get out there, so perhaps next year.

dropped off in a cache? It has been a long while since I handled a tb, so I don't recall the logging process. The concept behind my TB is that my Liscense plate will be the TB number. I will have a TB sticker on my bumper stating to log me. A person can either log the long/Lat as well as the time/day they saw me. Or they can just reference the street I was on. Something like Driving North on I77 at 5:30 near exit/mile marker such n such. That part I can see. But can they drop me off the same way? Do they have to have a cache to drop me off in? Or will I just need people to 'take' the bug from the prior person who logged?

Anyone use earth google? I put in my long/Lat and none of the different formatings puts me at my location, though using my address gets me there, but the long lat don't match up. It's not even putting me dowwn the street, but dropping me into the lake.

Its nice how they can put everyone into a group and say this group needs to be banned. Now tell me this. Will banning Caches in cemeteries stop this kind of behavior? Simple answer NO. I as a kid was in cemeteries with my friends, we ues to drink and smoke at night 2-3 am in the morning. The only difference is that We didnt log or take pictures (and release them publicly). The actions were still done though. So should government step in and prohibit anyone from entering? No. It is up to us to be responsible for our behavior and to act accordingly. Since I matured from my younger years I look back and think how stupid and inconsiderate I was of those resting places. I now visit cemeteries with a respect and solomn attitude. But to classify this as being a geocaching thing is wrong, and a bad way to fix a problem that isnt just geocaching.

if he only wanted 1 response the proper action would be to just email grounspeak and WAIT. There are a lot more things going on than his essay. He came to the forums and in a poor manner griped. If you think this is harsh you should see the forum I go to after this one.

Being someone htat has 3 bugs about to go out, none of which will actually be traveling cache to cache. I am not releasing them to collect miles. I think the wording up to the cache to cache part is fine, but after that should be removed. Again thats just me and seeing I don't have a lot of bugs I am not an "expert". But thought I would still give my 2 cents worth.

I haved stopped logging online as well. I went out there I found the cahce I logged there. I don't feel I need to log it all over again online. I also could care less about the stats, and at a time when i stopped too many people used stats to decide if you are a n00b or not. so Now I am forever a n00b because my online stats will never increase, though my finds and experiences do. Now if there is an issue with the cache I will report that to the owner. And maybe if I have some extremely outstanding event happen to me while I am caching I may post it as a note to the cache online to share. I don't trade because I find nothing worth the souvenir, and since I have stopped on my sig items until I make new ones I wont trade for one, since I dont stop at McDonalds enough and get happy meals.

Being a soft top 2001 Jeep Wrangler owner. I love it. I like Pan didn't like the effort required to remove the hard top, nor the storage needed for a hard top (I live in an apartment complex). Storing the hard top when its removed needs to be placed flat, not on its side. The soft top folds up. I also have a secondary 3 piece soft top that allows me to keep the back covered and the rest open, or if it rains I can put the top over the front seats. Heating is excellent, within the 1st mile I drive me Jeep is already cranking out the hot air and toasting my toes. As for air conditioning. umm? isn't that why I take the top off? Mileage isnt the greatest when compared to toyotas and hords and other standard vehicles. I am averaging 16.3 miles a gallon. Where with my prelude I was at 23.6 miles and my ford tempo at 22.4.

Personally I would help out the ashes. I am sorry but how are ashes scary? He said some of the ashes not the entire urn. Get a small plastic tube put in quarter teaspoon of the ashes seal it glue shut. People see more ashes after they smoke a cigarette. And if its the thought that oh well these are the ashes of a dead person, well that works bout as well as ooh but thats a picture of a dead person. Perhaps its just me, I don't fear death its inevitable we are mortal, no matter how much society wishes to not accept it, we all pass on in time. I think sending out her ashes with maybe a small book or page biography of her would be a great way to pass on her memories, and let other people meet her and know what kind of person she was even though they are unable to shake her hand today.

If its all about asking the owner then why say its fine to alter your tb in the first place? I personally will not wany ANY of my tbs that I am about to release to be altered. Adding a tag because mine fell off, or I didnt include one doesnt affect the toy, unless of course they had to drill a hole through it. As for them going "out of their way" to put a tag because your tb didnt have one. I don't think it was really out of their way, if it was they probably would have not done it. I dont think I ever read a log --- "I picked up tb and it had no tag so I painstakinly had to look up the bug, copy the text over to word resize the fonts small enough then use my own ink and paper to print it out, then had to drive to Kinkos to get it lamenated then go toSears and byuy a drill press to add this tag." They did it because they felt it would Help others know what it was they found and what the mission of it was for. Some cachers AND MUGGLES may come across your cute little toy and say aww how cute a fuzzy bunny stuffed animal. Eww whats the metal tag, (rip) there thats better. i think I will keep it and hug it and name him George. The tag isnt adding any more rules that you didnt set up on the TBs page. (Or atleast shouldn't be). If your bug is set out to travel freely, then someone shouldnt be attaching a sheet with "move me freely but only on thursdays of a full moon if it s a leap year and the day number is even."

If you are near a craft store you can usually find they stock wooden nickels that you can then paint or stamp.

I dont know if I should lmao at this thread or cry. You get ticked off because its a toy for fun. But yet are getting so worked up over people tagging the goal sheet to your bug so others know of it if they happen upon it. Next you say I can attach fur and paint it purple if I want but I cant attach paper with words on it. So I can totally deface your toy destroy it and you are happy, but put on a piece of paper to HELP others know what they came across you get bent out of shape.

I use to only trade sig items, and I in turn leave my own sig item. ( I haven't cached recently, though I would still follow this practice.) TravelBugs though I would only take if I could further its goal. And I wqould not trade for it. Travel Bugs are not cache content rewards. They are visitors to be moved. But there are threads in the TB section that discuss the shoulds and should nots of tb moving/trading. So I wont go into that here.

I personally would never read another article by this person on any thing even if it was indoor activities. His over use of negative words to describe what he didn't understand was numbing. Instead he used negative associated words like "accuse" to point out what he saw as good traits fof the sport, but because of the negative implemntation of the words, it doesn't sound as good. I am guessing this guy had a bad childhood memory of an easter morning and his basket was empty and his siblings were overflowing with plastic eggs.

Another tool you can add use is a wood burner tool. (it looks like a soldering iron) Like the engraver and Moto Tool it will want to follow grain of the wood, so go slow, and practice first on scrap wood. It takes a while to get use to working on the rounded edges.

I went to take my goldfish caching with me, he was all flopping around I thought from excitement. but before we got there he stopped flopping I thought he fell asleep on the drive, but when I parked he wouldn't wake up, He was bored to death of caching already :-( So I drove back home and look for another caching buddy that is low maintenance.
