  1. I have a cache like this: Meadows Media Swap . So far people have been very good about trading like for like, though many finders don't trade at all, or just take or leave a tb. This cache is at the end of a fairly hard hike, so it doesn't get too many finders, maybe that keeps the quality up!

    Icon Swap Meets

Another vote for "spotted". Could we change past logs? I went to an event a few months ago and in the excitement of seeing all those beautiful coins in a binder, I took the proffered slip of paper with all the tb numbers and grabbed and dropped them. Now I wish I hadn't because when I look at the list of tb's I've found, all those coins come up and I don't feel like I really had anything to do with them except looking at them. So I would love this feature, and would like to change my past "spots" to reflect that. Also, on the Travel Bug Logs page of My Details, would the text on the right side read, List travel bugs you own or have found or have spotted?
  3. I have a Legend and was considering upgrading to the Legend C. However, I found out that while the Legend can store 1000 waypoints, the Legend C only holds 500! This is very important to me, I dump in all the nearest waypoints and just cache whereever I am in my area, and 500 waypoints won't go very far around here. It's the only feature that's been downgraded from the Legend to the Legend c, but it's important to me. So, I'm waiting to see what the new Legend Cx will have!
  4. Finding stickers for cash: www.upyourbudget.com. It's a contest run by Budget rentacar, apparently you have to find a hidden sticker with a phone number, based on video clues. First one to find it wins $10000. Seems like a cacher would be good at this game, but then again I don't feel like going out to search for it....
  5. Also, my old mapsource Metroguide USA v5 and my mapsource topo cd-rom's should both work with either the legend c or the 60c, right?
  6. Hmm. So the 60c draws its maps faster - does the legend c redraw its maps a lot faster than the old legend? Does anyone know how the legend c and the 60c compare in redrawing speed? It's such a tossup for me, I keep my gps in my purse all the time, so the weight savings of the legend c would be valuable to me. But the waypoint issue - arrgh!
  7. I feel like it's time to retire my old trusty legend, but I'm having a hard time deciding what is next for me. The legend c would be perfect, except it only holds 500 waypoints - half the number of my old legend! What is with that? I'd like to know how these units compare in terms of how fast they redraw the maps ( my old legend takes forever when I'm zooming in or out or panning). Also, how do they compare in how well they get a signal in tree cover? And how about battery life? Size and weight? Ease of use? Thanks for any help!
  8. Mine says: You are a Premium Member. Your membership will continue through Sunday, November 20, 2005. I'm assuming that means it will expire. How do I change it to be recurring? And, how do I even just renew it? Thanks!
  9. My account expires soon, too, and I can't figure out if I set it up to renew automatically or not, and if not, how I renew it. Is there an premium member account page that I'm not finding that shows the details of your premium membership?
  10. I don't, but a friend who often caches with me has one. Just yesterday we took the pup caching with us!

    Tiny Quibbles

FWIW, I'm using Firefox 1.0.7 on Windows XP Home.

    Tiny Quibbles

I messed around with what DavidMac wrote about. It always grabs the next characters, no matter where in the waypoint I click. However, if I click on the first character ( the "G"), it also grabs the preceding space and colon. And, if this is a space issue, why does it only grab the next word up to but not including the apostrophe? The next word starts with an open parenthesis, and then the word "what's" . Firefox grabs " (what" , but not the " 's". What's up with that? Hope this makes sense! And thanks for your input so far!

    Tiny Quibbles

I have 2 little tiny complaints: When I am inputting a waypoint name, or a zipcode, into the "From origin" part of the pocket query form, it would be nice if the radio button automatically clicked onto that one. I am dumb enough to have occasionally forgotten that extra click and gotten an error message. And, if I am looking at a cache page and want to save the gc.com waypoint code (GCxxxx), if I double click on it in firefox it also grabs some of the following text, which is " (what ". Try it if this doesn't make sense! In IE it seems to work perfectly, it's just another little firefox problem. Overall I think this is one of the best run websites around, I can't even think of functionality that I would wish for that it doesn't have! Thanks, Jeremy!
  14. The secret to successful caching with kids is SWAG! While my enjoyment of caching comes from the hunt and the hike and the challenge, my kids really like the whole finding treasure and trading idea. So micros and long multis are not going to get as good a response as a big ammo can filled with stuff. My daughter's favorites are theme caches - one called Stuffed Animal Exchange was a huge hit with her! Here's a picture of my daughter and her friend finding a TB that was a stuffed animal:
  15. This photo shows the joy and pride of finding a TB! The girls were very excited. We picked up the bug at this cache: GCGK8W
  16. As a parent, I would definitely want to know. Not only to hold them responsible for their misbehavior, but also to teach them NEVER to put their photos along with their names and addresses somewhere where you don't know how they will be used. Lucky for those boys you're a sane and reasonable good citizen; what if you were a psycho? I've always taught my kids: no identifying information on the internet or any other public place.
  17. Pasha, where is this List Options dialog box? I have gsak v5.1.3, registered.
  18. Thanks for yur responses, Pasha and nightPilot. The problem is, I want the smartnames to be on my gps and my palm as the waypoint names, I only want the gc code to be somewhere in the description on the palm. I'm usually not interested in the gc code, the only time i want it is when I need a recent log and i want to look it up on my cell phone. So I don't want the gc code ALL the time, I just want it available in the description for when I need it!
  19. I use cachemate, but I still can't seem to find the dialog to add the gc code to the description. There's a lot of functionality in cachemate that I haven't figured out yet. How exactly do I do this? Thanks for the help!
  20. I looked at the help file and couldn't find what I needed. I wasn't very clear; what I want is to use the smart names for the waypoint name, but have the gc name somewhere in the description that I get on my palm pilot. My gps really can't store too long a name! Thanks for your response!
  21. So I'm out caching, and I want to find the latest log for a cache using the wap interface on my cell phone. The easiest way to do that is to enter the GC cache waypoint number. But to make my gps more readable, I use GSAK's smart names for my waypoint name. Today I realized that the GC waypoint is not anywhere in the cache description if you're using the smart waypoint names. My question is, is there any way to get GSAK to put the GC waypoint in the description, while still using the smart names for the waypoint names, or do I have to go back to using the GC codes for the waypoint name (no more smart names)? I hope this question makes sense to someone - it's kind of hard to describe!

    Newest Wap Interface

I've asked this before and never got an answer, so I'm asking again: why can't the wap site accept coordinates in the HH MM.MMM format like the rest of the geocaching site uses? When I'm out and about and want to find a nearby cache, it's a pain to change the settings on my gps to get the right numbers to input! Other than that the wap site works great!
  23. One big reason I would prefer a power trail to a multicache is paperless caching. When each cache is a separate entity, they all show up on my pq's. But the multicache requires me to do lots of button pushing on my gps, and frankly, I've gotten lazy about that. If there are 20 caches along a 10 mile hike, I don't want to have to manually input 19 of those. If power trails have to be banned because of land use restrictions, that's understandable. But I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the one power trail I did; they are huge fun for kids, and a great incentive to get them to go just a little further.
  24. Check out the where's in a name locationless cache: GC3153 My username is so short, this is an easy one! i could have picked out an area right here in California where I live, but I love NZ (having visited 15 years ago) so I'll try to find a cacher there who will travel to a spot anywhere S39 and email me a picture showing the gps. We both get to log the locationless cache - see the cache description if this doesn't make sense... Anyone interested?
  25. Thanks for the tips! That helps a lot. Will the earthcaches ever show up on normal searches, though? It seems like if you don't already know about them, you'll never find out.
