  1. I use a Tracfone, but in a state forest in my county, there is no signal whatsoever! Shimek State Forest in southeast Iowa has no nearby towers and is an unserved area, including, apparently, the city of Farmington, IA !
  2. http://home.earthlink.net/~prime.suspect/geolex/ is the website. That %7E is a tilde in hex Nice website about geocaching terms

    Muggled

I have had one cache disappear, another lost all the contents. I just pulled out 4 caches from a park, because the locations have become such public knowledge that non cachers were leaving notes, two were obscene. I am thinking about pulling out of hiding caches, now. I have only 7 left, half what I used to have.
  4. I put on an event cache with the Iowa Geocachers Org. and was it ever fun! I got to meet cachers that I had communicated with, but never met. It worked out great, and lots of TB's changed hands at the event. I can't wait till I go to or host another one! Event Caches Rock!
  5. Micros are fine, in the city, but a couple I found this summer were in the bush, a mile from the road! Still, I am glad that I had them to find. Virtuals are thick in Nauvoo, IL, a few miles by the crow fly from me, where someone could have worked in a micro. A river stands between me and them, so they are over 25 miles by road. Still, I may do them one day.
  6. I am hoping that it is not a geocacher. I found a second note in a nearby cache that I missed before. I may be archiving a couple of caches. Both are rather in muggle country, not in the woods, like most of mine. So far, neither have been logged online, so it must be a muggle.
  7. Some non-cachers know of this cache, since it is on a bike path in town, and I have had at least one other log that was not recorded online. If anything further happens to this cache, it will be archived.
  8. I removed a log sheet from one of my caches that contained the F word. Twice! The online log was not signed, but I will remove any log from this user, if indeed, he is a user, and signs online. As yet, no log exists for the date noted in the local log.
  9. I like Zingerhead's idea, 2 meter radios, since I have geofriends who are hams. In fact, I learned about geocaching from two meter repeater contacts. I heard the guys talking about it. I have not cached with ham guys yet, but it would be a good way to cooridinate things. As you may tell from my handle, I am a ham John
  10. I am just puzzled as to what happened. The cacher in question is a friend of mine, but did not explain much what the Admin's reason was for refusing. Maybe too many all at once? The ones now came in one or two at a time.

  12. Maybe the next step is virtual TBs? Just place a registered certificate with picture of the TB, in a cache, meanwhile the actual TB never leaves the owner's house?
  13. A geocacher in my county had a problem getting 5 new caches approved in a state forest, so, he not only withdrew them, but pulled all 12 of his previously approved caches and archived them. Today there are 5 new caches in that same state forest placed by someone else. What happened there?
  14. I once tried to find a couple of caches in the same wildlife area, no luck. It was hard enough even with a gps. This was a wild rural area since returned to private ownership.
  15. Gas prices are a problem, but not as bad a problem as Europe! We in the USA would be stranded if we had their prices! Country general stores would come back because no one could afford the gas to drive 20 miles to Walmart!
  16. I have not had a run-in with cops, but the former owner of a property, who still lives there with a lifetime lease on the farm house, who questioned what I was doing in the park. Hiking is a legal activity on her former farm, but she was uptight about who comes to the area. I archived the 2 caches in the park. Enough!
  17. Hey! That works! Repeatedly clicking the mouse gets you online! Whoops! Only gets you the home page! Error going anywhere else! 'General Network Error. Check your network documentation.'
  18. Wait until Tuesday or Wednesday, then, to post holiday finds?
  19. Same error that I am getting, and I posted in another topic, before I saw that the topic was already raised.

    Mail Bouncing

I attempted to send mail to a user who just posted finds at my caches, but the mail bounced from AOL. Should not the webmaster verify user e-mail addresses?
  21. I am getting an error message when attempting to connect to the Geocaching site. Did the server crash and burn?
  22. I am a week shy of 71, and was with another cacher in his 30's. Makes a difference, he asked at one point if I needed help. I almost said yes. It was a hard climb out of a creek.
  23. Another cacher was with me today, and he pointed out to his little boys 2 toads that were mating. I kept my piece on that subject.
  24. Hopefully the point will get across, but who knows?
