To my surprise, a reporter contacted me today. He has been looking for Geocachers here in the Lubbock area. Why? He wants to do a story on the new trend called geocaching. What are your thoughts? I am not the most trusting soul when it comes to reporters. Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, but they tend to twist things and take parts of a story and make it say what they want. I think it could be a + for the sport if done right. Please give me your thoughts and any other input you may have. Thanks, Rick

I took one of those cans to the grocery store one time and let the checker try and scan it. Can ended up about 3 rows down. Manager had to go change pants as he was laughing so hard. ( yes I had told him the plan, checker is a long time friend of the family.) Still is out to get me. LOL. Rick

First let me say,"Once a Scout, Always a Scout" I never thought about this as a Scout but here I am 49 and still in Scouts. Both sons Eagles. Nuff said. I love using my GPS but I see a problem here. One is again with the cost. If you are with a large troop then you may can affore 10 or more. Thats great but there are those troops that are small and cant. Heck our Scout camp has a hard time even supplying some supplies for archery. Next question is the same one I have with useing calculators in school. Its great to use but what happens when the batt.'s are dead. If you do not know how to use the basics then what? I would think that it would be a good idea to maybe add to the orienteering mb. but not to come up with a New one. Just a few thoughts of a Old Wood Badger, But Still A EAGLE and a Good EAGLE too! I guess the question I have is why you cant tet a FF? I look at it sort of like a Garage sale. If you see somthing in the add you want you are going to get there early or loose it. I dont take things from a cache normally. I like being the first to find. Thats my prize. Sometimes I get it but there are those other times that I don't. Just keep on caching and have fun. I hate to tell you this but I would say just about every time you go into a store, bank, federal building so forth and so on, your picture is and has been taken. Ever go into a airport? You can bet the ranch that you are having your picture looked at there. Oh and they do not need your OK to do it. We have cameras at some of our hamburger joints here. I have a cache that has no less than four around it. Part of the hunt is useing skills not to let them know what your doing. The problem as I see it is if they are taking the cache's that cost a few $$ what do you think they will do with a camera that cost $$$$$? Thats right it just became a travle bug. I think it would be great to know that there is a camera there and to see if I could get to it without getting my photo taken. Rick

How many of you leave just a first finders prize? I find the same thing in our area. Caches start nice but after 5 or 6 finds there is just Junk in the cache. I am thinking about just leaving a first finder prize in my caches. Harder the cache the nicer the prize. Rick

Well I finally did it. I submitted a cache. My question is about the notes that I had to send in with it. When I go to my cache page these notes show up. I understood that they would not. Am I the only one able to see these or are they going out to where others can see them? Thanks, Rick

In getting ready for my trip I have a question. Will the airlines let you take a GPS in your carry on or do you have to place it in your check in? I would think you would not be able to carry one on but hate the idea of just checking it in. Anyone know? Thanks, Rick.

Well I posted about my up coming trip and would like some more information. Time is VERY important here. I have very little. I would like to know what items you feel rep. Chicago the most. In other words I am looking for items that I can bring back to West Texas that, 1. are not real expencive, 2. not real big, 3. show where I got them, and 4. represent Chicago. Sorry guys, I would do the search but I have no idea where this is located other than the city. They just handed me the date and said I was going. Ok question time Navy Pier? What is it and what is there to do? - Field Museum of Natural History - Museum of Science and Industry - Shedd Aquarium These three have come up at another hunting board several times so I will place them on the try and do list. I was also told that I had to try the stuffed pizza and some type of hot dog while I was there. Any other suggestions or hints? Thanks, Rick

Well I find myself going to the city of Chicago on November 7-9th and was woundering what the city has to offer. I was also wanting to know if there are any caches near the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. I will be staying there and taking the corse there. I probably not have a mode of transportation so I was woundering if anything was with in walking range of this? Also I would like to know what there is to see there in this short amount of time? Anyone have any answers or suggestions? Thanks Rick

This thing is acting up. When I go to the main page it tells me I am not loged in, so I try. It will not take my user name or password. If I try and go to my page It still wont, When I try to log a cache the same thing. I can come to this page and it shows I am loged in. Whats going on? Rick Going to keeep trying.
