  1. My wife and I did some geocaching in Cuba a few weeks ago (August 15th - 22nd, 2017) . We met so many very friendly people where a cache would be in their casa or in a gallery. I'd just go up to a casa, stick my head in the door and yell out "excuse me!" they would say "si?" I'd say "geocache?" they would come walking to the door with the biggest smile and say say "si! geocache!" LOL!!! Havana, Vinales, Trinidad...all the same! The one family we stayed with, I got their 22 year old son hooked on geocaching when I took him with us. He thought that was the coolest thing! He said he was going to try and get an account and hoped start placing some geocaches.
  2. Since making these updates last week, I've logged another 31 finds with nary a duplicate. Keeping fingers crossed it solved my dup cause.
  3. Classic, easy one (just read the first 3 lines though) It's harder to get to the cache than solve the puzzle! LOL!! I have not had a chance to coordinate a ladder and a friend to hold it.
  4. When you get a chance, check this one out! CG3K306 My first and only so far. Scratched my head for a while until I had an epiphany and BAM! Puzzle solved...but have not managed the grab of the cache :-/
  5. Well that's an easy answer! I think I can handle that. Thanks!
  6. I found a TB placed by a Boy Scout troop. The mission of the TB was to get to a Jamboree in 2013 on the other side of the country and it didn't even make it out of the state (OR). I sent the owner an inquiry and never received a response. Looking at their profile, it's been a while since they have been active. What should I do with the TB?
  7. I just updated my iOS and GEOCHACHING app. We'll see if the double log issue persists. I'll let you know.
  8. Note that if the distance between your "Sun" cache and your "Mercury" cache is the minimum saturation distance (528ft/161m), then the distance between your "Sun" cache and your "Neptune" cache will be about 7.7mi/12.4km. And the distance between your "Sun" cache and your "Pluto" cache will be about 10.1mi/16.3km. I don't think the saturation rule matters when they are physical stages of a single multi-cache...so the "Sun" and "Mercury" stages could be 50 feet apart even if they are both physical stages. and I've got a lot to learn! and appreciate all the info :-)
  9. I just came across this thread while trying to figure out why i'm getting a lot of double logs (me logging). Yes I am a newbie, and yes I'm using a cell phone. I've noticed that this just started occurring in the past 4 or 5 weeks. I'm not heavy fingered and certainly don't push buttons multiple times. I don't think it's a cell service issue. I get dup's rather I'm in town (Portland, OR) or on a trail 10 miles in the mountains. What I have noticed is that more often than not, recently, as soon as I log a cache, my app (iOs) will shut down and I have to reopen(I don't relog though)to go onto the next cache . I think this is what is causing my double loggings. I don't have the latest and greatest iOs and maybe if I download that, it will solve the issue. I want my count to be true and accurate and I don't know that I have duplicates unless I log on the website...which I do maybe every couple weeks. I have NO issue with a CO deleting a double log.
  10. WOW! LOL!! My plan was maybe 4 or 5 miles. There are a few websites that will do the scale calculations.
  11. I'm new to geocaching...a couple months now...and want to start placing caches. I really want to do a multi cache along the paved rail trail that passes my home. The format for the multi cache would be a scale version of our solar system where each cache is proportional distance and size from the 1st (sun) placed near my home and each cache from the sun would have to be found in order. There are currently regular caches along the trail and I know that some of these planet caches would encroach on the standard 1/10 mile separation rule. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
