  1. I recently asked for my first help. It was a multi and I could not find the second stage. I just wanted to verify if it was indeed there or perhaps missing. I did log my DNF and the owner then replied with the final coordinates. I searched the final and still could not find it so I sent the owner an email asking for additional help which they provided. I do not feel guilty asking because I spent a ton of time looking and commend them for the difficulty of the hide but for the sake of my mental well being I needed to know.
  2. I have done this too, usually while standing along side a road. Yesterday was really odd, I was out in the middle of nowhere and there must have been a shooting convention going on down the road due to the amount of shots I could hear and the # of rednecks drivinig by. I stopped digging in the rocks several times to pretend I was either on the phone or taknig a leak. Whatever works I guess.
  3. Is that true? I didn't see anything mentioned about geocaching in that article. Is there another source that mentions it?
  4. No update since June I really want to go for this one as well. I will be down there for the 1000 in Nov but don't have any plans to be near that section of course. If you by chance log back in please let us know how it went.
  5. Primarily Blackberries around here but there are wild figs in many of the ravines. I think a lot of them were left from the early gold mining camps. I'd like to learn more about a lot of the shrubs in the area, I know the Native Indians used to eat a lot of them. A ton of acorns around right now if you are into that kind of thing.
  6. Here is a list of underwater caches. I am sure there are many more http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...d6-d46a46c6dca5 requiring SCUBA http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...df-965e7785b236 http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...63-4b8279c6d291
  7. I have picked up used toiletpaper, used tampons and even the elusive Corn Speckled Brown Trout during trail cleanup days. Of course I have to mentally prepare for these events. Typically if it involves excrement, carcass or bodily fluids and I am not there for the sole purpose of cleaning I will leave it. If it is near a water supply or poses a health hazzard I will try to return with the needed tools for the job (protective equipment). I learned my trail manners from my 4 wheeling buddies and we take it very seriously.
  8. my iphone is in the mail right now. I will be using it for the google maps app and to navigate geocashing.com while out and about. This should reduce any need I have for printing instructions on multis or puzzles. Of course it is just another gadget in another pocket but I typically keep my cell phone with me in case of emergency anyway. GPS functionality will be existing standalone unit provided by Garmin
