  1. Issues with CacheBerry? No issues.. Just make sure you get the correct one for the phone - it's labeled. I've downloaded a new version at one time, but didn't notice it was for a different version of the operating system and had to delete it and re-install the correct one. Other than this, no issues at all. Best Features? The ability to see all of the cache information; hints, logs, and etc.. There is a GPS/Compass feature, but I don't use it.... One feature I would like to see in CacheBerry is when looking at the cache in google maps, I would like to see nearest caches to the one I'm looking at. It exports to a kml file when looking at a particular cache for loading into google maps. Since I'm only requesting one particular cache, that's all it exports... Also, not really CacheBerry, but the Storm.. I like having a full keyboard to type my notes into the log!!!
  2. You can use the Garmin 60 POI macro in GSAK to transfer the caches to your 60csx as custom POI's, but even that is limiting. If it's paperless you're after, you can pick up a Pocket PC or Palm off of eBay fairly cheap - OR - use a Windows Mobile smartphone or Blackberry go go paperless also. I found that the POI macro is a little cumbersome to use, but that's just me. I'm sure there are a lot of users here that use the macro with no problem and like it.
  3. I enjoyed this one a lot: GCXR49 - ASSIGNMENT: Fire Tower -- Smith Mountain
  4. You can create a route from here and then once finished with the route; create a pocket query from the page.
  5. Getting the GSAK files? Are you meaning the caches in the GSAK database? If that's the case, just export the caches to a .gpx file and copy the file to the laptop. Nope, can't use GSAK on any phone, WM or RIM, that I know of. But,,, I use a Blackberry storm for paperless geocaching and with the use of CacheBerry, it works great for paperless.
  6. I've owned both and both will do a great job for what you want. It probably depends on how much you want to spend.
  7. Yep.. I used a Pearl for a while, but now use a Storm. I use CacheBerry for paperless.
  8. XP, Vista, and Linux. I use ABIE (Anything BUT IE). 99.9% of the time is Firefox, but have to use an IE Tab to use a site or two for work.
  9. never mind... you removed the #..
  10. This was done already and stopped because of lack of interest (and other things). There are tons of geocaching sites, online forums and newsletters emailers out there, but hardly anything ever evolves from them though for the same reason.
  11. I hardly ever by more than one of a particular kind and my coins - all but one or two - stay with me. Pick something you like and start with that. I started with (and still am) looking for and buying USA and Military theme geocoins. From there, you'll start seeing what you like.
  12. I moved before I started geocaching, but you can probably pick them out from This Link. I would advise staying away from St. Charles Circle at night though... I would probably drive about 35 miles east and cache in the Slidell/LaCombe Area.......
  13. Love it! Worth every penny!
  14. WalMart has it in the paint section and they have RealTree cloth-tape in the hunting area (and the ductape also)
  15. If I have something like it or a little better - and the same size, I would replace it and send an email to the cache owner about it. If the container was a custom camo job, that might be a different story though.
  16. If you use GSAK, there is a macro that will take a PQ you provide and export it to a .KML file, you can open that file up with Google Earth and see the "ring" around each cache (528 feet I believe) and you can find a hide location with that. OR You can ask your reviewer nicely ..
  17. The problem with using a sharpie is the ink will bleed through depending on the paper. Any good writing cheap Bic works fine. I will use the pens I get from hotels if they write well enough and don't skip.
  18. I guess a "Thank You!" is in order for providing that link! Thanks!
  19. Not trying to belittle you or anything, but you do realize that travel bugs are like 4 to 5 dollars, right? I think the type of cache you're talking about was removed some time ago. If I'm not mistaken, you're talking about a locationless cache. The one I have seen was grandfathered in after the removal of the cache type.
  20. I like this one! I think I'm going to have to get another bag! I just ordered the same one except mine will be in multi camo. It should be here this week. Just ordered the "Molle Utility Shoulder Waist Pouch Bag Coyote Brown". Shipping was a bit high (kind of), but over all, everything was good. This should come in very handy out caching though!

  22. I use to carry a daybag/backpack type of bag, but it got a little cumbersome after a while. I finally found something that works great - a tactical bag I purchased from a local army supply store. It's got plenty of compartments/pouches and a divider for the larger center compartment. Works great for me because I can either put the strap over my shoulder or around my neck with one arm through the strap so I can push it around to my back out of the way. I purchased it at a place called "Ranger Joe's" here in Columbus, GA. They cater to the local army base - Fort Benning. The link is straight to the bag.
  23. I've never been to a CITO event,,,,, but,,, I do keep the pastic bags I get from quick-stop stores and the like in my truck and keep one or two of them in my caching bag. I'll pickup trash I find around the cache sites I go to.. I've gone as far as to pick up bigger objects like an old tire or rim and throw that into the bed of my truck. I don't like picking up trash either, but I would rather take a few minutes to pick up some trash than to have a cache archived because the area was becoming too trashy..
