That's right charityh. Using google maps (http://maps.google.com/), you can get and print driving directions to where you want to go, which is near a cache. What I do, just as another example, is punch the coordinates for a cache into my Garmin Nuvi in my car and have it take me as close as I can get with a vehicle, then walk the rest of the way with my portable GPS, a Garmin Dakota 20.
I found in my early days that once I had a few under my belt the manual way, I started getting creative, eventually figuring out how to have my Nuvi help me get close, then switch to my handheld for the remainder.
