  1. Competition breeds innovation. If OpenCaching.com does nothing else than to make Groundspeak better, then it will have fulfilled its purpose. If Groundspeak doesn't get their site speed up and correct recent problems, having an alternative could be a very good thing.
  2. That's right charityh. Using google maps (http://maps.google.com/), you can get and print driving directions to where you want to go, which is near a cache. What I do, just as another example, is punch the coordinates for a cache into my Garmin Nuvi in my car and have it take me as close as I can get with a vehicle, then walk the rest of the way with my portable GPS, a Garmin Dakota 20. I found in my early days that once I had a few under my belt the manual way, I started getting creative, eventually figuring out how to have my Nuvi help me get close, then switch to my handheld for the remainder.
  3. I believe geocaching on the Venture it is similar to geocaching on the Vista. Garmin says they are both "geocaching friendly" afterall. Check this youtube video out, titled "Garmin eTrex Vista Handheld GPS Review & Geocaching how-to" If you haven't lately, you should also update your Venture software: https://my.garmin.com/
