  1. Of course, grumpy young farts are A-Ok because their psychoanalysts agree that all their problems can be traced to the grumpy old farts (and battle axes).
  2. Does one have to pay the BCGA membership fee before they can be heard? Just curious, because so much of the BCGA website seems to be locked down to non-members. Other than that, I'm cool with your representation. You've got the best interests of the hobby at heart. Pay or no pay. Regardless my password no longer works - guess I'm not welcome?? (NOTE: Moderator split the following two post out from an old bumped topic unrelated to this discsussion.)
  3. Why don't you just join the BCGA, get involved in the BCGA and get involved with the whole Parks Canada process within the BCGA?? That, IMHO, would be the path of least resistance.. K1W1 Check the members list. I've been on board since Jan 2004. One of the things I've come to realize is that no matter who is in power, it remains a clique which devolves very little information about anything.
  4. Small containers in National Parks. While I agree there may be some need for a policy in order to protect some of the more sensitive areas, this is not a matter of national security or wholesale environmental desecration. Since the matter is of little consequence for the majority of Canadians, I see no reason to have the process decided with the input from anonymous cachers and certainly not from anonymous foreign cachers.
  5. Well, you represent geocaching.com (as per Claire's list), so no, you don't represent me, you represent corporate interests in Seattle. Chillibusher is my Canadian regional representative. I don't remember anyone at Groundspeak pushing their interests on anyone. The folks that have reviewed listings in the past probably have more knowledge about the process than you do but they're not being controlled by anyone. Unless Canada is any different the people who represent your interests are your locally voted representatives. Other than that you as a good citizen should take accountability and represent yourself. Does that mean we should colour ourselves lucky? A previous reviewer in this area more than pushed both gc.com and his own interests above all else. Hopefully, he has no imput at all but he has proven himself devious in the past.
  6. If I'm in this situation but I know exactly where the container is, I just declare it a successful find. C-A I think there's a word for that ... rhymes with Peter. Gosh. What a talented poet?
  7. Maybe you could suggest something?
  8. and all of us in this thread are in the lower mainland.... Craggers! Find any more caches with a Ding Dong lately? Changed over to using pure ' Twinkies ' Somehow remember that these will help me find those lost one or two caches.
  9. Put in lots at minimum distance apart and please provide easy to follow route map. Within grabbing distance of the car would be appreciated. Need to bulk up my numbers.

Hot diggedy dog!! I finally received my laminated membership card in the BCGA - the one I've been asking for for close to a year and a half. Unfortunately I'm unable to reference the threads in which I made my requests since out of a billion pages the one I need is now gone bye-bye. Oh well!

What happened to ' my pals ' ?

Whatever, dude. I wasn't intending any amount of sarcasm. Just asking questions. I leave the browbeating of the Board to you and your pals. Maybe you should read the ' BC GEOCOIN ' thread to see where the comment was headed!

Sarcastic point taken. If the outcomes and discussions of BCGA board meetings are only to be listed on this site and not even show up as news items on the Association site - why not just shut down the BCGA website completely and save the money?

If the BCGA forums are now open to everyone on geocaching.com and the BCGA site is now to be only a ' news site ' open to everyone, is there some advantage, to paying $15 a year or a buck a month to be a member of BCGA, of which I'm not aware.
  16. My gosh! Who would write such stuff. Sounds to me like a bunch of people should be chastized for having too much fun. Once I track them all down, they will be severely punished for daring to enjoy a day of caching, and also sent back to polish up all the rocks they trod upon.
  17. I like how you qualified this projection. "In its present form." 3 years ago seems like millenia. And 5 years ago I was hand entering cache listings for people because there was no "new cache" form. And I guess any reference to your ' thousand year....reign?' would be considered out of line?
  18. If I were to be totally against commercial caches, would I then be in danger of being moderated for disrespecting small business owners or any business owners for that matter?
  19. And that is why the list is in my filing cabinet under G ( for guidelines, of course ).
  20. Preferential? And that would be some cachers. It would serve no purpose in revealing the content of a PM sent to me some time ago and would also violate the rules of the forums - would it not?
  21. Gorak didn't ask to have those particular caches archived. Seems to me he was asking why the rules for approvals are not consistantly applied by all approvers.
  22. So, let me see if I've got this straight. If the cache hider is determined to have made an error or misjudgement in his/her cache description, the approver will - should he like this particular cacher - suggest a change in the description. If the cacher hider is not well liked then the cache will be archived. If, in the extremely unlikely case that an approver should have made a mistake or error in judgement in approving a cache, then we just consider that water under the bridge or what has happened has happened and nothing is done. Sounds somewhat like Mount Olympus to me.
  23. Maybe you displeased the geocaching gods at some time in the past?
