Is the Montana the best GPS? Is it stable enough for geocaching? -

Over a map I do not even use because I have way better options... no thanks. I like the product that GS has presented to us. I even have more than one premium account to help out! -

Good idea, but you've made a mistake. Your petition is directed towards Groundspeak, when it should have been towards Google. It seems many on here don't, but I completely understand why Google has had to start charging for their service, and hence why Groundspeak had to make the change that they did. You're wrong on this. It is a Groundspeak issue. Groundspeak created a product with Google maps and then sold it to their customers. Google is/was a supplier to Groundspeak. If I have some issue with the air conditioner in my car I fault the car manufacturer and not the supplier of the air conditioner. Everybody can come to the Groundspeak site and download caches to their GPS's free of charge, right? Groundspeak then enhanced the site so that those who WISH to download PQ's can do so for a nominal cost of $30 a year. (8.2 cents/day) I would still like to see it where ALL users who wish to us GS to cache would have to pay. Non-Premium $5 a year. Premium $30 a year. If that doesnt generate enough to cover the Google map issue, then increase the cost of using GS. I cant recall what I paid 6 years ago when I joined, but it seems to me that everything else around me has gone in price, so why not GS too. If you don't mind, I like the fee structure as it is now. I really don't care to pay for Google maps. Besides, Jeremy has said geocaching will always be free, so did we change that idea? There are plenty of ways to get Google maps for free with out paying more for the Groundspeak memberships, so why don't we just leave it that way? Well said Mr Holly, I am looking at the Google Terrain map right now, plotting some cache hunting for this summer in PA (using GSAK split screen Google maps of course). -

Not everybody is talking about using the maps to find the caches. Some use them to plan their caching, and the more information, the better. For example, you might think that the nearest distance between two caches is a straight line until you look at the satellite view and notice a bog between them. The Google terrain maps are much easier to understand when considering the amount of physical effort needed to get to a cache or to go between two caches. There are reasons for the maps, or they wouldn't be there. I agree with this... good point KC! Still can do it though with GSAK. -

Huh? $30 was not even a large amount of money in 1977 terms let alone 2012! I gave a tip in a restaurant that size the other day and I live below the poverty line in the USA! I threw in 50 bucks last night toward a sheet pizza and wings while bowling with some friends. We are talking PEANUTS when we talk how much our premium account costs us here. To this there IS NO DEBATE! So please cut the theatrics... -

I can't figure out how to get this to load. It saves a file 116103.user.js to my desktop, but that is it. Drag & drop the file to an open browser window and then the same all all gm scripts after that. -

They are not lost, you can still use them, just not on that GS page. I see that from an individual cache page I can access the Google Terrain view. But only for that cache. If there's a way to still plan a multiple cache hike using Terrain View then please let me know how to do so because I do not see that available. The best remaining option seems to be the My Topo map option which is better than nothing but not nearly as nice as Google Terrain. With GSAK this is available and really it is the best way. -

It is all one big conspiracy! I think the secrets to who killed Kennedy and where Jimmy Hoffa is buried is under that concrete and GS is covering up for the US government, stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Oh ya and they are doing it to stop ya all from noticing the NY GIANTS won the Super Bowl....... Plus to give Mr Yuck one more historical fact about geocaching, he is a walking geocaching historian. I wish he would have an event on that subject.

I WONDER WHAT AREA THERE YOU HUNG OUT AT..... HAHAHAHA OPPS CAPS KEY ON - SORRY... You know what uuencode is??? If you'd read Usenet for as long as I, the all caps posts would immediately make you think of PSUVM. I was a systems administrator and usenet site admin in 1984. I still remember downloading the scripts to perform the first pass at the Great Newsgroup Renaming in 1986. In response to one my first Usenet posts in the big 7 hierarchy someone called me an a**. Yes, I know what uuencode is. If I recall, it was frequently used in groups for posting binaries, most notably images of nekid girls. Yes and it is still used in some email systems today. -

If someone has multiple premium accounts, are they not allowed to use more than one in the forums, which one can they not use if so, the second, third, forth?
