  1. Yeah, we heard you in this thread It is considered bad form to start the same thread twice in two different areas. [Edit to clairfy 2nd sentence.]
  2. I think a red check mark somewhere near the top of the cache page would be nice. The same one that is on the cache search listing:
  3. I'm very disapointed in this geocide. On first read through, I didn't even notice it. I generously give it a 1. I am seriously wondering if Podedwards found Waymarking.com
  4. That is a pretty big leap in logic. Why will all major cities provide this for free? [And even if they did, nothing is free, taxes will have to cover it.] I am all for free internet access, I just don't see it happening like you envision.
  5. Uh, don't bother asking me... I have both the "error" and "correct" copy of the first Loggerhead coin and I can't see any difference.
  6. I was under the impression you had to use MapSource. I know you can treat the card like a USB hard drive but I thought MapSource built indexes and stuff before sending to GPS card. I got my 1G card at amazon when I order my GPS.
  7. Yoda. Some guy. Homer and his brain.
  8. Not able to be definitely answered from the information provided. Some Toogs may be Gleems, in which case, they would also be Bloogs. Gleem-ness is not contraindicated by the state of Toog-ness in the statement above. Buzzt! Wrong! The statement: "If some Toogs are Bloogs and all Gleems are Bloogs, then some Toogs are definitely Gleems." Is false, period. (Even without the word "definitely") The question whether or not some Toogs are Gleems is undecided. Nice try. [The point is that the first part does NOT imply the second part so the whole statement is false.]
  9. I vote for changing the cache page, it is a very small useful change. Not everyone uses Firefox (although I do) or wants to install Greasemonkey and an extension. I use several different machines to access GC.com and it is a bit of pain to get have to install stuff on all of them. Plus there are times when I use IE etc.
  10. I would go with an Etrex legend, $130 new, probably cheaper used.
  11. Please check any that apply: [x] - Reviewer bashing thread [x] - Micro bashing thread [ ] - Bring back the Virts [ ] - Bring back locationless [ ] - Waymarking stinks [ ] - Garmin vs. Magellan [ ] - Geocoin woes [ ] - GC.com stinks [ ] - Let's rate caches
  12. Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe.
  13. Almost every time somebody comes into the forums asking for help on a puzzle cache the first answer is: - Don't look for answers/help/hints in the forum - Ask the cache owner This is considered proper form, you don't have to like it but there it is. I think the term "geotools" just means you need to use your wits and whatever you can think of to solve this one. Google is almost always a good place to start. If it helps any I am having trouble with this puzzle too. I am not convinced the puzzle is well-formed, that there is enough information to correctly solve it. I have *most* of it solved but I can't see any way to get the rest.

  15. It takes about 10 seconds to do this and another 10 to double check your numbers. It seems a lot of people skip the second step. You should be downloading a .loc or .gpx not cutting and pasting, this leaves NO room for error.
  16. Seems pretty rude of you to use Groundspeak's forums to advertize a cache you don't have listed on GC.com.
  17. I am uneasy with this story, it doesn't sound right. This sounds like a "the reviewer wouldn't approve my cache" story. I am reserving judgement until the PM tells us his/her side...
  18. Kind of. I have to depress the power button on my 60CX (not a 60CSX but virtually identical) with some authority, a lot more so than my 60C, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. I figured it was meant to avoid an accidental powering on if it got bumped. Pretty unlikely I know in any event. I am having a similar experience. Thanks. I am returning my 60csx for a replacement (amazon.com) as the power button is VERY bad. Sometimes it works fine, other times I can't get it to turn on or off at all. I still love the 60csx and am sure I just got a bad unit.
  19. Since I primarily cache in Vermont my procedure is this: Wipe out my GPS Wipe out my GSAK database (when loading next step) Load all "Unfound Active Vermont caches" PQ into GSAK Load my "All Finds" PQ into GSAK Transfer all GSAK caches to my GPS Since my total number of finds PLUS all the caches in Vermont I haven't found is less 1000 I can load all of the Vermont caches (and all my finds) into my GPS at once. This will do me for a few months. Tomorrow I am going to Littletonm, NH to cache so I will just wipe out my GPS and load a PQ for that area into my GPS.
  20. Fixed that for ya, no charge. Okay that's not your theory, it's mine. OT: Reviewers are bad uhm-kay?
  21. It works a little funny, if you delete the track log off the main track screen it seems to stay on you data card. From there you can only delete those track logs (or access via USB mass storage). Currently I have one track on my main tracks screen but 3 under the data card setup screen.
  22. I wish people who don't understand statistics would quit making uninformed comments about averaging. Averaging is not just as likely to make your results worse as better. And three or four measurements taken after walking around in different directions can significantly improve your coordinates. Seriously: if you don't understand statistics, please don't make statements about it, OK? What he said.
