I have a Garmin Etrex Venture Cx (firmware v2.70) that I've only purchased a few days ago. I put 2 rechargeable 2500mAh NiMH batteries in it and went on a trip. I left it on the whole time.
I was curious about battery life, so after I returned I left it to completely drain the batteries. After they were drained I took them out and put an identical, fully charged pair in. The unit failed to start. I tried with different sets of batteries but it was still dead.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It seems strange that it died after only 1 day (!) of service without being exposed to any sort of shock
