  1. If you want prices in £££s read up to our post. I did say it was relevent UK information and if you want to weigh up the pros and cons of the devices for yourself then the site mentioned therein should help you!
  2. Thought you might apreciate a post relevent to being in the UK. globalpositioningsystems Have pretty much the best prices that I can find in this country for GPSrs, (go to the recreational section) The site also has a handy abillity to compair one unit against another (or indeed 4 others) So it'll help you make up your mind. The Yellow Etrex seems to be a popular cheap starting point. It is cheaper than the Gekko 201 here.
  3. To get Geocaches locations directly from the downloads available from the geocaching site, you can use an extra peice of software called GPSBabel (Free) I have a PalmOS/Navman combination and up till now we've been using GeoNiche to find caches however that costs money and cetus is free.
  4. I have a Palm Vx with the Navman add on for GPS. It has its own internal chargable cell which seems to hold its charge very nicely. The software for Geocaching is rather good (GeoNiche i've found is one of the best) and it has a Quad Helix antenna. Under trees the signal degrades slightly, occasionally loosing the 3d fix (altitude) but still gives you the 2d lat/long fix to within a couple of feet accuracy. Having said that if you plan to survive anywhere without electricity to recharge such a unit for some time, you're in trouble when it runs out of charge as it only has the internal chargable cell but that makes a change from such addons using the PDA's internal battery to power the GPS module.
