When last I used them that way, they functioned identically. The distance/direction reported in the email were from the center of the search.

You could create a waypoint with the correct location and info in a desktop program (maybe EasyGPS?) then transfer it to the GPSr.

Although speculating about the possibilities is fun, it is of course entirely possible to view cache areas in Street View already.
I personally would probably not make much use of Street View in the GC.com maps. But, it looks like it would not be hard to implement.

For good maps, the first thing that comes to mind is Delorme and their PN series.

Moving bookmarks would be one of many welcome additions to the bookmark interface.
When I bookmark a cache, I sometimes jot down a comment in the comment field. Is there someway to also attach that comment when I later do a pocket query on that bookmark [...] ?I have been thinking this would also help with solved puzzle caches.

I do not think I will get much use out of the Electronic Compass or the Barometric Altimeter on the Vista.
Although I find the compass useful in locating caches, if you don't think you need this then you should be considering the Legend HCx instead of the Vista HCx -- that's the only difference between them.
I do find maps (topo or street) useful in translating the icons on the screen into real-life locations. 24 MB will still load a small area though.
Looking at the comparison, I would probably say the Legend HCx is worth it for
- SD card support
- Longer battery life
- Larger waypoint capacity
- Custom POI capability
- SD card support

The Colorado should appear as a removable drive on your machine. There should be a folder called "Garmin" inside it, with a folder "GPX" inside that.

I expect you will find much better battery life and satellite reception using any Garmin unit with an H in the name.
However, you might consider the Garmin eTrex Venture HC. The main advantage to the upgrade is the USB connection that will ease transferring coordinates from a computer (full comparison here)

- Shareable (Email link to others or post link on profile. Caching trip planning.)
- Shared (Listed on your bookmark lists tab, but not on cache pages. Challenges.)
- Public (Shows on bookmark lists tab and on cache pages. Favorites, caches in a park, along a trail, etc.)
Exactly my thoughts.

This would make it much less confusing.
I have often wanted to make a bookmark list that was accessible from my Profile but not shown on cache pages. Maybe a 4th level would be necessary?

Google Earth has a setting for the format of coordinates displayed.
But here is a coordinate converter: http://www.boulter.com/gps/
I entered "43 39 40 -79 23 16" and got the result "N 43 39.667 W 79 23.267"

The location of the coordinates shouldn't matter for conversion.
Do you want a tool with an interface in French?

The Micro SD card will store the map. No additional memory needed.
I might also suggest considering a freely available topo map?

I will guess that you are running 3.00 on the eTrex and using a Mac?

If that 182ft is an altitude measurement, I will guess that it is showing the altitude obtained from the GPS position, whereas the trip computer shows altitude as obtained from the barometric altimiter.

Just a few little issues/suggestions for the KML.
Why use nonstandard size icons? "Regular" sized caches should really not be labeled as "Medium".
Also, the bubble that pops up is always too small for its contents, and gets scrollbars. I wonder why? (never mind, I realized this isn't a Groundspeak problem)

Basic members have lifetime access to unlimited information, as long as they have an Internet connection.
The iPhone app is just another way to access that information that's a bit more convenient than using the website.
I'm not seeing any real difference.

Garmin's road maps (and other compatible ones) will install on their handheld receivers as well. Maybe look at the eTrex HC series or the GPSMap 60 series?
The downside is a smaller screen and lack of voice guidance.

The 'H' units have a high-sensitivity receiver that will provide much better reception near buildings and under tree cover.

It should be possible to edit both the waypoint name and description by clicking on them with the joystick.
edit: Sorry, apparently I didn't read the question thoroughly enough.

On the eTrex software, a "geocache" is just a waypoint with a special icon (which can be changed in Settings).
But yes, to get the D/T and hint and such, you will need a Pocket Query.

Maybe you need to have the same maps loaded on the GPSr as well?
