  1. Thanks. I have certain caches part of the geotrail in Western Pa. I ant those but insure how to do a PQ with only those caches showing. If I do a radius of say 35mi I'll get a ton of caches I'm not targeting. The nice thing with the pop up was it listed all the AGT caches I'm targeting. Problem was no way to get them to DL as GPX file. So if a PQ is the only way to pull them down as a GPX need to find a way to pull those specific ones.
  2. I have 60CSx, cachemate and GSAK. The closest cache is not always the closest. How do I have a program auto calculate the best route for a cluster of finds? If I have ten caches on the list I need a program that puts them in order for me.
  3. Same type problem but little different. I went to a site and it open up all the caches in taht area on the site. I checked all of them and DL to GSAK but the group was saved as a .loc file. I'm a premium member and can get .gpx files as individual files. But not as a group. It defaults to .loc.
  4. I use a UT Starcom 6700 Cell. Phone with Built in Pocket PC (Window Mobile 5) I use Both Cachemate PPC, and GPXSonar to handle my GPX files. The Starcom 6700 also is Eqipped with WiFi so I can Connect to the Internet where Signal is available. Its a Great setup for Geocaching, but buy the "Extended Battery" for the longer periods before a charge. I use the same phone. No complaints. Ventureman----I use cachemate so what does GPXsonar do for you? Use GSAK on the PC.
  5. Speaking of. How does the whole uploading to the TT work? I use the 60Csx for caching but would like something mounted in the car. How do I get the cords into the TT? Does it accept LOC/GPX files? When the cache is in the TT is it my lat/long or is it given a name like the cache name for instance. Trying not to break the bank but would like something that can get me to a destination accurately and something that can take cache cords for "follow the road" use.
  6. Going down next weekend. The final weekend the exhibit is open like 24 hours it seems. Not 24 but some serious hours including Sunday to get people in.
  7. Is lithium the same as NiMH? I put in some rechargables (NiMH) last night and the unit turned itself off after a bit a few different times. I may not had changed them to NiMH. Would that have turned the unti off?
  8. Now that has got to make a man feel good about a purchase.
  9. I have the VX6700 and I'm using cachemate. Forget cachemate for now. I used Street & Trips and the Pharos GPS with Bluetooth for my first two finds. Worked fine by getting the info to pocket trips.
  10. 30-18 = 12 hours saved. Just bring another pair of regular batteries and enjoy your trip with all the bells and whistles on. Keep the backlighting to a minimum and enjoy yourself. If batteries were $10 a pair I would sweat battery life. Go to the dollar store and get a dozen for a buck and take them all.
  11. At night I seem to have a greater variance than in daylight. Is that possible? I'm talking late night.
  12. Thanks. So run a GPX file out of export. Make note of where it is saved and then pull it into my PDA. Mobile Center is pretty good about moving files. Copy paste into the storage card won't be a problem. <I think> In fact I have my PDA now and it found a 2.5 MB file. I think its importing now?????? Thats good news. Sounds like when I did the export yesterday it synced itself on the PDA. That's sharp if it works. 350 and counting.... Gentlemen we have success!!!!!! Last question. Next GPX export from GSAK will that update the info on the PDA or could I double up here?
  13. Anyone have this set up and its working? I have GSAK loaded with a database from a PQ I will run weekly. I want to get that DB on the PDA. I can't find how to get the GSAK DB onto the pocketPC. Posting on the individual sites of GSAK or Cachemate can be an excercise in futility. Hoping someone has this set up in a working environment and can get me going. I'm really interested in getting the logs and hints on the PDA to view since the 60CSx can show only so much. Keeping track of caches isn't important I don't think on the PDA. Just need the descriptions. I'm also interested in writing up logs after finds if thats possible as well. Thanks again. If it matters I'm runnning Windows Vista and using Mobile Center and not activesync.
  14. Email me. Its been 24 hours and no registration email. Even sent for a confirmation code a second time and nothing. Trying to get on the site.
  15. Roger that. I think its a problem with my unit. Everything DL's correctly I'm just not sure how to view the log infomration on the GPS itself.
  16. Loving the program. Few things. I did a pocket query and exported to my 60CSx. I find the closest caches but don't see the hints? Are they on the unit? Looking for the "other" information. I thought that text would be on the unit when I imported it in from GSAK. I mean the info is in the GSAK program but not on the unit? As I find these tonight how do I upload them as found? Do I need to load something back into GSAK or just got to geocache.com and load them? After a few weeks I would like to run the same query. Can I merge it with teh database I have? I want the changed infomration to import but not duplicate what I have. Thanks. See you in a few hours. Hope to grab at least ten tonight before I get to bed.
  17. You guys been a help. Now 3 and I'm upset I'm not out the door by now but its coming along. The double lasso did work. I tried East Coast CN and Topo but the Topo maps are huge. Wasn't getting them all on a two gig stick. Got all the east caost in CN and most of the bordering states with PA as a topo also. About 1.3 GB. PLenty left for my hunting routes and caches. I did get GSAK and getting familiar with it now. Just got a pocket query set up and it even shown the three I already found. Now my question with this is (I did read his quick start guide) is when I fin the cache how does the DB get updated? I'm finw with this query until I get to far out. Meaning miles. My question is after I find the cache and note it it on the GPS as found what is the simplest way of marking it as found? Is it manually done on geocache.com?
  18. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I used the lasso tool and highlighted 177 maps according to map source. Saved those 177 into a file called "east" East is what I think I want to load on the card. I hope this doesn't load one map at a time? This will take hours. Now when I built the map "east" iw asin CN and then saved it. I can toggle that map between Topo and CN without skipping a step. When I load "east" on the data card will I be able to see topo information or is it a toggling that can be done on the unit itself?
  19. How do I send both at the same time? Looks like one or the other. I have one map saved and I can topple in map source between CN or Top.
  20. Ok. Looks like 30 minutes for the first map. East coast CN 2008. 30 minutes sound right? How do I view the data on my card? PC or can I do it on the unit itself. I can't find the button that allows me to view the data card. Now if I edit waypoints or anything on this map again in the future do I have to update the whole map again to the device? Or will it just send the new information? Or am I looking at this all wrong? Is the "east" map my new basemap and cache info and added waypoints are just a topping on top of my new map?
  21. 60CSx - Check 2 GB microFlash - Check Topo 2008 - Check CN 2008 NA - Check Premium Membership - Check Now how do I get everything bundled up and on the GPS? I must say mapsource's interface is 50 years behind street and trips. I want to get the eastern seaboard loaded up as a map. I think I saved one with a .gdb extension. Well I know I did it includes the east coast and the one waypoint I added, my house. Its about 900MB. Is this a map and is this what I can load on the GPS? What about the same map in Topo? Is that another 900MB? I created the map in CN 2008 but in mapsourse I can drop down topo and it becomes top. After I get my map loaded where do I DL the cache info? Use Garmin's site or here. I guess I paid for a membership so here. What format? They have a bunch of formats. GPX I suppose. Back to mapsource for a minute. Send the info to the device? Is that what I'm going to do with my "eastern" map? Thansk to any quick replies. Its a 100 today and I still can't wait to get out there and start poking around. But so far using my PDA with pocket trips and a pharos GPS was much easier.
  22. In an hour I'll be unpacking the 60CSx when I get home. Are you saying DL the USB drivers before I attempt to load anything Garmin? I'm assuming the unit comes with a start up CD. Tomorrow I receive Topo and CN 2008. I just want to get the unit going tonight to play around with the items just on the basemaps and such. Tomorrow is the real stuff. But today I guess the mapsource data and driver/firmware updates for the 60CSx will be what I update?
  23. Did a search and all I came up with was the Vista GPS Anyone using Garmin software on a PC with Vista OS? How is it? Any compatibility issues or should I just use the notebook with XP? I have a 60CSx, Topo 2008 & CN 2008. Want to make sure there are no issues when I start to load everything.
  24. But yeah, install the maps, update the firmware, and upload the maps. IIRC the setup process will assist you with firmware updates, I think it wil prompt you and guide you. The install maps has me confused. Your saying install Topo & CN before I update the unit itself? I was going to just handle the Garmin unit first and get updated. I read through some more stuff and looks like the web updater will get the unit itself squared away. Then I was going to load the DVD's and then upload some local maps. I was at Best Buy today but was unsure if it was mini or micro SD. Glad I didn't buy what I thought it was. Looks like the 2gig micro is the way to go.
