  1. Does anyone else feel that the compass needle / pointer is too small? I find that the all the points of the triangle are similar size and it is not easy to see which way is is pointing. Even more impossible to see on a bike. I wish we could go back to the line that moved from side to side and into the center. Anyone else feels this way?
  2. I dug out my old Magellan GC after not using it for a couple of years. When trying to download a geocache to it, I get a message that I need to download a new plug-in. Plug-in appears downloaded but still cannot use the "Send to GPS" button, it is grayed out. I've tried IE and Google chrome, same result. Please help.
  3. I don't know if anyone else has the same issues with the new app...I mean right from the start since it was first introduced a few months ago. I find that it is a bit unresponsive and slow. It seems to be "loading geocaches" for quite a long time. Zooming-in to the map, it does not respond right away, have to slide my fingers across the screen over and over....When selecting individual geocaches it is necessary to touch the cache icon several times before it gets 'selected' and pops up...when trying to navigate to the cache, once again I have to click on it several times. Once I am done with it and want to de-select it, it is nearly impossibe to do...it keeps re-selecting itself. I also don't like the page where the cache details are listed...Geocache description and hint are also sometime not very responsive on first try. I love my iPhone and don't have this issue with other aps and never had any issue with the older 'classic' version of Geocaching. Anybody else?
  4. Is anyone "watching" or monitoring the website for caches that have numerous DNF's and no response from the cache owner? I've set up to watch a number of caches for one reason or another and have seen notices being sent to cache owners saying that unless they perform maintenance within a couple of weeks, their cache will be taken off line, yet other caches sit there with numerous DNF's and months of inactivity and no one appears to be contacting the cache owner. Also, some cache owners have not been logged into the website for a year or more, and their cache sits DNF or needing maintenance....just wondering how this works. Thanks. !!
  5. A big THANK YOU to all that replied and offered help. Your posts were very helpful!
  6. I get it work in Chrome - but I rarely drop one or two caches at a time. It's much faster to transfer them as a group from a pocket query - which is very simple, as you just dump the unzipped files into the geocache folder on the gps using file manager. Just remember to disconnect on the computer before unplugging - I had it crash on me one time for not doing that. Also, just be aware that the world wide maps are not brilliant when travelling. While I've had them be perfect in the UK and in the mid-western United States, the maps were really off in Alaska (by about ten to fifteen feet) and pretty non-existent apart from really major roads while in Brazil.
  7. Hello, I have just purchased a new Magellan explorist GC and started downloading geocaches but I have noticed that I am not able to see all the details such as hints, description, Recent logs, etc) it is telling me that I need to be a premium member to see this. I know this not to be true as I have been using my iPhone and am able to see everything in spite of not being a premium member. What gives? I should add that I use Chrome, but I was not able to download any geocaches with that browser, so I used IE. any help will be appreciated. thank you Eva

  9. I have just purchased a new Magellan eXplorist GC GPS unit. I have downloaded the Communicator to my PC, also have added it to my profile on geocaching.com. Yet I still cannot download geocaches to the unit. When I click 'Send to GPS" I get the screen where I select the Magellan tab but it still says I need to download the Communicator. I've checked and verified that I do have it downloaded to my computer. The 'Download" button is grayed out, so I can't download the geocache. can you help please. If anyone is using this same unit and can help, please call me at 604-781-8006. It is kind of urgent because I only have a few days left to return it, it I can't get it to work. thanks in advance! Eva
