  5. 1)Humback Whale 2) Green Sea Turtle 3) Coho Salmon 4) Canada Goose 5)Barren Ground Caribou (Grant's Caribou is a small portion of these) 6)Painted Lady Butterfly 7) Barn Swallow I learned that a caribou isn't just a caribou! There are at least 5 types of caribou in North America. Of these, the Barren Ground Caribou is the one that is famous for its migration. They are also the most numerous caribou in Canada and the ones with the biggest antlers. Who says size doesn't matter? There are eight different populations of Barren Ground Caribou based on where they have their calves. During the winter the Bulls and cows stay in separate herds and the calves stay with their mums of course. In spring, the herds rejoin and migrate to the calving grounds. Cows separate from the herd to calve. In 2004, the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) categorized the barren ground caribou as of "special concern." 6. I like C the best though it would be nice to have a choice from another continent...we already have N. America with the first coin. And that is not saying these entries aren't amazing! What is it with all the photographers here on the forums? I wish I had tried again to upload my Aussie photos but I will make sure it gets done for the third coin....
  7. OK, well that was DARN short! Got my shiny new coin in the mail today Maybe I should have waited to post my guess Aug. 31 hey? AND, we actually have someone who guessed today as well! So congratulations, great (short) cointest... and now to admire my coins (yes! I got more than one today. It feels so good to open up that little ol' mailbox and have it stuffed full of mailers again:laughing: And, I think 9 days may be a Canada Post record! Maybe the forced time off gave them more incentive to work more efficiently!
  8. .. and there's always a silver lining! My new Garmin Oregon 450 arrived via FedEx this morning. I can't wait to go paperless caching. Meanwhile, the old GPSr is making a good paperweight. It's a shame that it didn't die on Saturday morning. GPS city was selling them at an amazing price! I bought one Glad you could make it to the event, it really was a well planned and excecuted event.
  9. Well thankfully I have no pictures but I have to say that once a geek...always a geek! I started in junior high school. I was THAT girl with the mouth apparatus as before I got my braces on I had to wear this metal stretching device for 14 hours a day. I've always loved science and math. In university I completed my BSC. in Palaeontology (with high honous, of course) and later on computers interested me as well as any little electronic gadgets (like GPS's, lol) When I find an interest in something, I do not just do it...I LIVE it! I study the topic to death! Then when I know 'everything' I move on!

  14. Got a surprise after the geocoin event at the BAD Mega this weekend...funny story. My husband, who really was a good sport considering how he loathes the fact that I collect coins, was helping me put the coins away. We were almost done when I spotted a flash of bright yellow in his hand destined for the container. I yelled 'Stop' and made him drop them back on the table...I knew my collection well enough to know that I didn't have a coin that colour! So, much to my surprise and delight I had been visited by a mystery coin! The Wizard!
  15. Hey, nice to see you two at the mega What a surprise! Now that I've seen the coins in person, can't wait to get mine even more!

  19. Hi Everyone, I know there hasn't been much talk on this forum of WestCan 1, the first Western Canadian Mega Event held this last weekend in Three Hills, Alberta but I just gotta share.... What a BAD time we had !! There were many awesome satellite events planned for us including a geocaching canoe trip, Hutterite colony tour (ending with pie!), tours of the badlands and of course a Geocoin event hosted by TethysC and C-side girl. Saturday for me was a HUGE day! It started out with Jeremy joining us at our breakfast table....and ending with a group night cache episode....BEYOND FUN! In between we watched the town parade, bought a new GPS at an amazing deal, did the new Canadian GPS maze, my first Wherigo, and collected 11 ICONS in one day. Definitely a record for me! The geocoin event was really a highlite for me. I have never been to any GCF or anything but I think now I may have a taste of how hectic it may be. I maybe got a third of my coins onto two tables before I was bombarded with people asking all sorts of questions. It was crazy and fun at the same time! I met so many people and was in my element talking about my passion to others even if some of them thought I was nuts. At the end of the night as I was packing up...there was a flashy new coin on my table that I hadn't put there at the beginning of the evening! A Wizard mystery coin! Thanks mystery person...this coin was definitely on my list of dream coins. I love cartooney type and bold colours of this design. So...some pictures you say? YOU BET!!! And I do have some BAD event coins and BAD Geocoin Event coins for trade
  20. Good to see your time in Aussie didn't change you one little bit GG Got my order in, I have not purchased any coins for ages as my bank account and I have not been seeing eye to eye. But who could pass up on these little gems, I'll just have to do without something else for a week Thanks Steph Nope, not a bit Craig I have one friend here who gets quite irritated when I speak 'Aussie'. And...speaking of bank accounts, we just moved country AND bought a house so yeah all these gorgeous coins coming out at this time is so BAD for me as well but what can you do? Irresistable they are....
  21. Hey Andrew, I just saw this today. Of course I'll be there and of course I will donate some coinage...just gotta have a look through to see what's good. I don't have too many gardengorilla coins left either...time to get a new one I guess!
  22. I was told when I was at the CNP booth that all the coins they had there were not limited and will be in their webstore. That's the best I can tell you, but I got that from them directly. TMA Thanks Moops! I am absolutely tickled that I was able to get not one, but two...now I can trade EVEN BETTER NEWS.... No more mailbox DRAMAS!!!!! We left Australia April 7. We traveled and visited with family we hadn't seen for years then we got down to house hunting. Ironically after seeing at least 30 houses we bought the very first one! But then BAM! Canadian postal strike....and even though we had an address by June 20...the keys we were given didn't work:blink: So, now we have a mailbox and keys for it.....Yahoo! I wonder what the first coinmail I receive will be....?
  23. Though it took me ages on my droid...I managed to get two....so now I can trade. Thanks ever so much for letting us know!
  24. Wow, a new mystery coin! Congrats go to Mauison and Ladybee!
