  2. Ok, well I am behind on things...story of my life! So below are a bunch of coins in no particular order that I received from trades, purchases and gifts/missions the past few weeks. I am so excited to have received so many off my seeking list and everyone has just been great to deal with! Many thanks to Sandtracker, nicolo, kini_ont, Fscout, LabradorMan, Jackalgirl, usyoopers and E&CPlus3. Hopefully I didn't forget anyone! Here are the pics -- they are pretty terrible as I am having issues with my scanner right now.
  3. Oh I love this coin! I have been watching it from the beginning but I am on a tight budget these days! If anyone wants to buy an extra and trade with me, that would be FANTASTIC!!!
  4. Hey my dear friend!!! How are you??? I just saw it.... you were in Calgary!!! While you were there.... did you see from close the Calgary dollars?? I am talking about the local currency banknotes they have there! I am wondering if they are widely known there or if they are only for a small part of Calgary.... for some stores and shops only.... Congrats to the winners.... Just an FYI...Lots of Tim's in the Detroit area. Almost as many as Starbucks. Yes, and a couple as far "south" as Ohio as I recall on our last trip to Florida -- but really, they need to spread a bit more. I am still wondering where y'all Americans buy your coffee eh?? lol! And TeamEccs21, you have family in Oshawa?? What a small world! I live in Oshawa! Congrats Gatoulis! Are you missing any Canadian Tire money from your collection?? It's not mint but I have a stack of it...
  5. I have been terribly busy these last few days but I needed to get on here and post some pics of my wonderful mission! It arrived on Friday. When I opened my box, I saw the key!!! When you have a small urban mailbox, and you see a key in it, it means that the item was too BIG for your mailbox!!! Gotta love it! So I had to use the key to open the large community box and there was my Halloween mission all the way from beautiful Kentucky (I have loved driving through there on various trips to Florida and seeing all the wonderful horse farms!). When I opened up the box, I was greeted by all kinds of candy and chocolate (and my personal fav -- peanut butter cups! My hubby is allergic to nuts so I NEVER get to eat them anymore...I am going to a friend's house on the weekend so I will be bringing those and eating the WHOLE bag! lol!) Also included was a lighted key chain that makes ghost sounds, novelty tissues (perfect timing because my son and I froze our butts off this morning on an outing to a local pumpkin farm), devil horns and this cute little ceramic cauldron and witch spreader for holiday dips. The coins are straight off my seeking list! The COG 2007 and a new Landsharkz design (Canada E/W). Thank you so much FScout! I love everything! What a great mission! Here are some pics of everything and then a close up of the coins...
  6. Hi Jacaru - just a quick note to let you know that you might want to start your own thread about the sale of your coins. You inadvertently posted as a response to Sweetlife's sale and you will get more inquiries if you have a thread of your own. Welcome to the forums!
  7. thanks SgtMikal for your kind words...
  8. Hmmm...where to start? I have to say that there has been such a HUGE variety of geocoins released in the year and a half since I started collecting. Everything from whimsical to artistic, from humourous to serious, from caching related to ??? what the hay is that?? lol! I guess I really hope that the direction of geocoins -- or at least the direction of some designers -- stays headed towards designs that create unity in geocaching. Excuse my fuzzy feelings here but I am drawn to (well-executed) concepts that depict togetherness of different people across the world (event or group coins come to mind in addition to general themes), importance of cherishing nature and protecting our world, themes of friendship, kindness and helping others, plus coins that highlight the fun of geocaching - the beauty of the adventure - the cohesiveness of a team or family. As a side note, I do hope that the variety of coins continues as well. We all need some humour, something to remind us of our past (childhood, trips, special events, people), or just something that makes us say, HEY COOL! I won't go into detail about what I specifically look for in a coin as I ponder whether to add it to my collection or not. It is such an individual thing -- I really like certain colour combos and types of glitter and translucents (the colour scheme is important to me) but not everyone feels the same way. That took me a lot longer to write than I thought actually so I hope it was clear. And I have to say, I do enjoy your "off-the-wall antics" YY. I find myself muttering, "what is he up to now?" as I open up threads/posts authored by you. lol! Perhaps I will have a chance to meet you one day in person (you never know). Looking forward to keeping an eye on this thread and seeing what others say...
  9. oh drat! double post!
  10. Hi Seab3 - I am from Oshawa and would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I am VERY pregnant right now so I can't sneak out to cache very much right now. As greywynd mentioned, events are a great way to meet a whole lot of cachers at once and learn a few things. Send me an email through my profile if I can help in any way! Have fun! ELTADA
  11. First off, very nice personal Chickahominy...it is a wonderful representation! As far as your questions go...it's entirely up to you. You can sell some if you want to recoup some of your costs or you can trade them all away. I think for my next one, I might have one finish that can be bought to help fund the project and then another finish that will be trade-only. I didn't keep track of where all my coins went...never thought to do that. Looking forward to trading with you at some point! Best of luck, ELTADA

  15. Glad it got there safe and sound and you liked everything. I haven't done a mission in awhile and it was fun to jump into it again. The trade only version is one of only 15 made (can't remember if I said that in the package) and please feel free to trade ANY of the coins I gave you -- there is no obligation for you to keep them. Just for the record! You have a short seeking list (only one coin that I could find) so if any of them help you to acquire some coins you really love, I will be happy! All the best! And thanks for posting your comments...I always look forward to that part of the mission.
  16. 1. Participating - Email sent September 7th 2. Received Name - Received! Now to get some fast research done! 3. Mission Complete - Sent October 5th. Had all the stuff for almost a week and just had to find time to get it packed up and sent. Finally managed today and it should arrive in a week (maybe less). 4. Mission Arrived!
  17. I like both but #2 gets my vote. Afterall, the v2 icon was yime-shaped with the "brightness" surrounding it (as others have said, the things that look like eyelashes) and this is a variation. I think it's good to tie them together in some way and I like this.

I have to agree - the edited pics you are posting are VERY blurry compared to the originals. If YouTube causes even more of a decrease in quality, wouldn't these edited versions look even worse??
  20. Beautiful! Another one for the seeking list!
  21. I don't worry too much about taping the coin inside the envelope as I use a bubble mailer and then clear packing tape on every square inch of the outside. I try to recycle as many mailers as I can but when I shipped out my Out on the Water coin orders, I bought packages of bubble mailers at my local dollar store for a pretty good price. They were the perfect size - unfortunately I can't find them now! Weight is a big issue here when sending something so I try to avoid any extra paper or cardstock (every little gram counts sometimes). I just recently realized that I should be sending by package rate to the US -- apparently O/S Letter (oversized or other letter service) is ok within Canada but technically I am supposed to be sending Small or Light Packet outside Canada -- even to the US. The postal outlet I go to let me send to the US using O/S Letter so I keep my mouth shut and hope for the best. I address everything as neatly and clearly as I can and tape everything well and I think that has served me well so far.

I think pretty much everyone posted their actual pics or there are mint pictures (which are notorious for being poor). Here is a shot of mine but you can see both sides somewhere on the previous pages.
  23. I got hooked on these metal pieces of art, Every day a new design to thump-thump my dear heart. I converse with my friends, I trade and I buy, I only have a few that I have been able to let fly. For coins that go out sometimes don't come in, Whadyagoin'do? Shrug shoulders and grin. For the travels they go on are astounding to see, The ones that make it and allowed to roam free. But I started my collecting with just a buy or two, Then started to trade with different people much like you. Why stop there and miss all the fun, When you can mint your very own run? Yes, that's right, a coin all your own to sell and to trade, To go down in history as something you made. It'll cost you some money, that is for sure, But the excitement of your own - there is no cure! So that's what I did, a coin that reflects who I am, And others did like it, well I'll be damned! I was able to sell, to trade and to gift some away, And then keep a couple for me for a rainy day. Whatever you do, you'll get lots of advice, From the various posters here who are all just so nice. Spend lots of time reading and you'll get the hang of it all, Jump right in - we're all having a ball!! WELCOME!
