  1. Hey, BakerRed! I was FTF on this! I thought it was a great container. Upon a quick glance around the immediate area, it blended right in and we almost gave up. Looking closer at the situation, an observant cacher would note that plug boxes are not often found there. The white paint, though, was the best! Great camo. A little nudge of the box told me it was faux, and thus safely found. Nicely Done. buffamalo
  2. HELP! I just sent waypoints to my Garmin etrex from GSAK v7.2.1.1.32, like I always do before a cache trip. Now, instead of looking at GCXXXX in the Geocache List on the gpsr, it's listed by its name. Don't want that. Went into the Send Waypoints window again, and noticed the Waypoint Name field was changed somehow to %smart, so I switched back to default (%code, right?). Did another Send Waypoints. Did not change the gpsr. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to "nuke" the gpsr memory and resend? And if so, how do you do that? HELP!!! buffamalo
  3. Just started paperless caching with my Clie. Love not killing those trees! How exactly do you upload the finds from the PDA into GSAK, then to geocaching.com? I have tried to follow the earlier threads but am getting completely lost. I have GSAK version 7.1.1.32 and have the cm2gpx utility on my computer. I have tried the Log Cachemate Finds option in GSAK but get stumped at the GPX file request. When I run (double-clicking or using Windows run command) a DOS screen quickly appears and disappears. I am no power-cacher, so I will continue to upload my finds from my GPS, and hand-log each find at the site. But it sure would be nice upload the PDA finds! buffamalo
  4. Has anyone looked into finding benchmarks planted by your local town? We discovered one on an evening walk and have since gotten a complete list of over 50 planted (if that is the right word) by our city. In an urban area where USG benchmarks may be sparce (or build over, paved over, on private property, etc.), this is turning out to be a prolific find for our crew.

  6. I'm a little new to this paperless caching. Looking into Cachemate for my Sony Clie PDA, but also have a iPod nano 4gb. The iPod idea sounds interesting. How do you do it?
  7. Thank you for the info! There's so much to learn for this tadpole!
  8. When I load a .loc file into GSAK, it classifys it with a Mystery Cache symbol even though it is a traditional cache. What am I not setting up properly?
