  1. I think it's pretty hard to get a sense of "limits" in a forum setting. I can tell you where I think they should be but I'm pretty sure many folks would not agree - as already expresses a number of times here. So most people will tend to avoid getting involved in discussions like this. What you end up with a vocal minority (no offense to anyone in the thread) and not necessarily a real picture of the 'masses'. Maybe if you had started the thread without mention of the coin in question, you would have got the response you were looking for. The addition of the coin has made it the focus and I'm guessing that wasn't your intent..just an example. So after that rambling and to stay on topic, I do believe we are seeing the limits being pushed but I'm not sure it is over the top...yet.
  2. I have no idea what the standards are. That's what's being asked - what are they? Who decides what's ok and how do they decide that? Sheesh. I'm not trying to push my opinion or values on anyone. I'm just hoping to get some information. If this thread ever gets back on topic, it might actually be interesting. TPTB are the ones to ask what the standards are because here all you can expect are opinions - and those will be as varied as snowflakes. I don't agree with the underlying concept of this coin or the Serial Cacher coin...but they did get approved and for my part..I just don't buy them. If coins like this don't sell, then they won't be made.
  3. Actually, I don't think this thread was meant to be a complaint department. I think it was started to address this very idea. What are the standards, what would be grounds for revisions or flat out rejection? For the record, there was a thread on the horned guy...I remember posting in it. When I first saw this coin I made the connection right away.. but of course that was with the original icon and name which helped to draw the image for me. I can't say if I would have even noticed the way it is currently? I'm pretty sure though that had I not seen the icon and original name, that I would have just thought of it as an ugly coin and nothing more. Of course, I just choose to ignore the coin as I didn't find the design very appealing anyway. It's unfortunate (or fortunate I guess depending on your perspective) that this thread gave the coin a venue to increase sales - regardless of the original intent of the thread. Like moths to a flame....
  4. Thanks everyone for your help!!! I've emailed the cache owner again and will wait a few days to see if they respond this time. If not, I'll then post on the cache page and the regional forum. It is so close and I do wish I could just go get it myself but unfortunately I can't for various reasons. I did kind of figure the TB would have a long stay (not this long though) when I saw it was dropped here.
  5. I have a TB that was moved once and has now sat for almost a year in a cache. Is it appropriate to leave a note on the cache page to ask someone to check on the tag and maybe move it along? I've tried to contact the cache owner but haven't got any responses. This was our first TB and the kids had high hopes for seeing this one 'transform' along the way. I would really like to get it going again - if it's even in the cache anymore.
  6. just like the actual Sherpa, it's very hard to separate the tag from the coin.
  7. So, what is your favorite Pathtag? I would like to see what people think would be a cool tag to send out traveling. It is very hard to choose one tag but this one would be my favorite as it was my very first tag. I don't have my own photo so I took the one from the Pathtag site. I really like how colorful the BflyLady Tag is and unfortunately this picture doesn't do it justice.
  8. The 'Klingon' coin is a KitKatt1960 Personal coin. Not sure how many were made and if they were ever sold? I'm pretty sure they came out before I started into all this. The other coin is a Florida Shipwreck Decypher coin.
  9. I've had a lot of great coins in the mail in the past month. These are some that I hadn't put away yet and better yet, I still some very nice ones on the way...it's so much fun
  10. Actually it was Tschakko who was the winner...unless you were thanking me for finally finding one
  11. Well, I found it on my first guess!!!! Then I spent the next 6 days second guessing and going nuts trying to figure out where else it could be...
  12. I put in 2 picks...am guessing they are wrong but look as I might...I can't see anything else - with or without the clue.
  13. He has said the cointest lasts for 7 days or until he gets 20 correct answers. My guess is that he hasn't gotten 20 correct answers and today is the 7th day so maybe today he will reveal the answer. His clue is quite good I think for this one! At least it confirms what I thought--I think! LOL It was a good clue???? Hmmm, I don't think it helped me much. But of course I may have found the coin with one of my 2 guesses and that's why I can't find it anywhere else. I think I need new glasses too as everything is so blurry
  14. So, are we getting any closer to finishing this one up? I'm real curious to see where the coin is hiding.
  15. It hasn't arrived in the mail yet but I'm looking forward to seeing my new KitKatt1960
  16. I think they would travel pretty good. The magnet is very strong and I usually need a pen or something to pry my tag off.
  17. I love these non-trackables. I don't have many yet but they are my favorites. I ccan't think of them all right now but for sure these: Rivercity and Team Moagy Northwestern Pennsylvania Geocachers - I just love this coin. It's simple but for some reason I just can't put it down.
  18. I'll definitely give it some thought and pass anything along. It's got to be tough since there are so many variations of Pathtags. Mine don't look that good because of the color combinations I have and they tend to get lost in the intricacy of the wonderful geocoin design. I do have 3 new designs and look forward to seeing how they work with the coins. It would be interesting to see and pictures others might have of their Pathtag and Sherpas combination to see how they look together.
  19. Ya, I see pathtags as going hand in hand with geocoins.
  20. Wow - I've never seen that before, I love that coin. I've seen a couple of coins on ebay that sort of opened and there was a coin inside a coin, would those have been sherpas too, carrying a pathtag inside ? There is another coin which I think they call the 'Spy' coin. The Pathtag is actually inside this coin but not held in by a magnet like the Sherpa or Blarney. The Sherpa and Blarney (others?) coins hold your Pathtag in place with a strong magnet. They are great and if you think about cost wise, you can get a 100 pathtags and 10 or more Sherpas for cheaper than your own personal trackable coin. Then you can attach all your wonderful designed Pathtags and show them off to the world if you like.
  21. So, I was wondering how many folks out there have (or have thought about sending) either a Pathtag Sherpa or Blarney Coin traveling into the wild or from event to event and what Pathtags you might have attached to them? These geocoins are pretty cool and with the 1000's of Pathtags being made, there can be a lot of interesting variations. I have a few Sherpas and Blarney coins but my tags don't look very good on them. I was still thinking of sending them out but wasn't sure if the tags would last long or if people even notice them? Do you expect someone to take your tag and then let the Sherpa continue? I'm of course always worried about sending any geocoin out into the wild. Do others have any stories of these travelers and how the Coins and Pathtags attached to them fare? Also, do you think most people that find the Sherpa and/or Blarney Geocoin will log the Pathtags too? I would also love to see any photos of the various Pathtags you might have that are hitching on for the ride or that you are thinking of possibly sending out attached to your Sherpa.
  22. ya, I put in 2 guesses and I'm thinking those were a reach..so I have no guesses left as "I see nothing!! nothing!!"
  23. Very nice!!! Of course being Canadian, I really like your latest one with the maple leafs on it.
  24. sheesh...I was trying to figure it out with the old numbers...
