1. Well personally I can't understand what is so hard to figure out about a Travel Bug. OBVIOUSLY that little tag is on there for a reason and if you don't know why you OBVIOUSLY should come to this site and find out. I read about TBs before I ever found one, and when I did I knew immediatly what it was, took it, logged it, placed it, etc. And I haven't been doing this even a month. Maybe i just take it for granted that people have brains and will follow rules. Someone picked up my TB but didn't log it on the TB page, logged it in the guest log and knows what a TB is because he dropped one off....so I e-mailed him. But should I have to? I mean geez, it takes 2 second to log it, do it immediataly after logging that you picked it up! Sorry, had to vent....
2. I try to poke it with a stick first....athough the first micor I hid, I reached into a hole at th ebottom of this tree without even thinking! Once I pulled my hand out, I thought, "man, that was dumb!" So now I'm more careful. Here in Texas we hav eplent yof little nasty critters to grab ya.
3. Thanks Markwell, that site was perfect! I've bookmarked it.
4. Thank you all for the great ideas. I guess maybe I was reading too much into the "complaining about junk" threads....I thought maybe this hobby was about to get very expensive for me! Some of the very things you've suggested I've already put in caches, so I'm content. I'm going to look for a signature item soon...
5. I've read several posts from seasoned Geocachers complaining about McToys and other such cheap trade items...as a new geocacher, I'm wondering what do carry to trade that you don't consider cheap junk? I'd like some ideas, as I do not want to be one of the people who others complain about for leaving "junk" behind...
6. Can someone tell me how to determine a distance between 2 coordinates? For example, if I have N31'01.977 W097'37.377 and N31'01.769 W097'37.332, how would I know how far apart these two are?
7. Hello from a fellow Central Texas geocacher - I've been surrfering through poinson ivy the past week. I can tell you what I've been doing, ut quite frankly it's not going to go away quickly. My itch was relieved pretty well with CalaGel by Oak 'n Ivy. Every night I soaked my legs in a hot bath qith 1/2 C baking soda in it, and on occasion I've made a baking soda paste with water, applied it to the spots and let it dry, then rinse it off with hot water. At this point the itching is pretty much gone, but now I've got to let these darn ugly blisters and spots heal on my legs, so I've been using Cortisone for that. Good luck, and next time wear pants, I know I will!!! LOL
8. Was anyone able to help you? I'm at 97.43.911 and Waco is about an hour north of me.....I'll be traveling through Waco this weekend.
9. I took and kept a little keychain pocketknife just a few days ago - and already it has come in handy. I usually just take and trade stuff to put in other caches...
10. I'm a femaile newbie...a couple that DH & I are friends with got us involved at the same time, but I'm a bit more addicted then DH already.
11. I am very new to Geocaching (hello to you all!) and "placed" my first cache, which is a virtual cache to an old cemetery that has areally old closed bridge over a river right across the road. It's a very historical type find, a really pretty area and the bridge is just too cool and too out-of-the-way to not take notice of. I enjoy taking in local history. Anyway, tonight I received an e-mail from someone that was a little rude I thought and simply stated "Don't you know that no one loooks for virtual caches?" (which is not true - after just a few days my virtual has its first find and I have logged one as well) so my question I guess would be, do most geocachers tend to ignore virtuals or do I just need to ignore this person?
12. There is a cache hidden on an island at Stillhouse Lake in Killeen and i think it's a grea idea! I just need to find someone with a boat to take me out there, because I want to find that one!! I think it's neat.
