  1. I just did a search of the iTunes store and found 15 different apps related to geocaching including "Geocaching" which is the one put out by Groundspeak. $9.99 and it's yours.
  2. I believe that you go to the page for you cache and log a note, similar to logging a find but select note, and from there you should have access to your inventory to drop any trackables. Most that I have seen put "TB drop" or something to that effect in the note. Hope this helps.
  3. Pathtags are a an item that can be used as a signature or swag item. They can be logged when they are found at the website on the back of the tag. They can be moved to another cache or kept in your collection. They are not trackable like a geocoin. I'm having a lot of fun trading them with other taggers and I have found a few in caches.
  4. I would consider planting a cache just for the group to give them a feel for the sport but not threatening existing caches. I have heard of scout groups and school groups being pretty hard on caches. By planting your own caches you ensure a great experience and you can even make some multi-caches along a theme like finding parts of the law of the pack or the cub scout promise. I've thought about doing this for my son's Webelos group. This way you get to have things your way.
  5. They are migrating to a new server. Their host said it would go smoothly but it seems that it hasn't. The site will be back soon. Sacfalconer
  6. I admired the production quality and thought that it was pretty fun to watch. I like to go hunting and for me watching hunting programs is inspiring. Perhaps this can work the same way for some. I understand the sentiment though that growing geocaching much faster than it already is growing could bring some unwanted results. Watching people go for a cache week after week would run out of steam eventually so I would hope that you would feature tips and new technologies as well as some other features that would entice a viewer to come back.
  7. I liked the way you phrased this response a lot better than the previous post you made. It gives more perspective about where you are coming from and give you more credibility. I'm relatively new to the game and I'm guilty of a few short log entries but reading this thread made me think about how tough is it really to write a bit more. Everybody doesn't need to do it but I'm starting to, even if I just remark about the weather. Sacfalconer
  8. I still pursue the close ones when I'm out running errands but I really enjoy getting together with the other half of Team Parabuteo, who lives 90 miles away from me, and finding a bunch of caches in a regional park where there is a good day of hiking to go along with the caches. We recently went to Rockville park in Fairfield, Ca and had a great day of hiking and caching and still have a couple of caches to go back for. Bodega Bay was also a fun day with some caches still to go back for.
  9. I'm wondering what folks think about their names being posted when they didn't log online. If I were to post photos of the physical cache logs, those who didn't log online but signed the logs would have had their names crossed out. I think that crossing out their names because they didn't log the find online is a bit backwards of what most of the cache messages say. In many of the caches that I have found the message says that if you find this cache accidentally, which I know some people who have done this, to sign the log and replace the cache as you found it. They encourage the finder to create a free account online and log their find but not everyone may want to do that but are willing to be a good sport and play along with their accidental find. No need to strike out their name, unless there is something to gain from having a cache found more than another cache?
