  1. Thanks a bunch, I will give that a shot. I do not log finds for my caches but was introducing a friend of mine to caching and wanted to take him and allow him to attempt to find my caches using my GPSr. Thanks again for your input!
  2. I have tried to run a pocket query a few times this week and each time I get 0 results. I have checked to following and it keeps coming up with nothing: * all found and owned caches within 25 miles of my home * that are currently active * from my home coordinates Can anyone explain to me what is wrong? If I am doing something wrong then if you would please explain to me what I need to do to fix the problem? Thanks in advance for your input!
  3. I don't want to sound like a crying baby, but can anyone explain to me when the site will be fixed once and for all? I can understand little problems from time to time, but if I am not getting errors trying to access the site, then I can't get my pocket queries. It seems to happen on a regular basis. It doesn't seem to be getting better. For several months we have been experiencing problems and they go away only to return a day or so later. This is not a bashing topic, yet one of concern. There are numerous folks in my caching area that express the same concerns or frustrations. Can anyone explain when the above concerns will be fixed? Thanks for your reply and again, this is not a bashing topic. Thanks!
  4. bump................thanks to those of you that have replied so far. Anymore?
  5. Hello, My family and myself will be heading to NJ this coming week and plan on doing a little caching when not visiting family. We will be mainly in the Bridgeton area as well as visiting Atlantic City for a day. We will be also going to the big city (NYC) for about a day and a half. Does anyone suggest any "must do" caches in any of these areas? Thanks for your suggestions in advance.
  6. What if everyone would do just like Team 360 and others and not log anything? Let's say you put out a cache and the cache has been visited 50 times over a year and nobody even as much as put a note on the page, WHO would still hide caches? I for one think this is very childish. I would be willing to bet that the folks that decide to not log anything online for the sole purpose of "not playing part of the numbers game" really enjoy reading everyone elses logs on the caches they hide. If this is the case, then why not give others that same joy? If everyone went into this mode of not logging anything on the page then again I ask, WHO WOULD STILL HIDE ALL THE CACHES FOR US TO FIND? Happy cachin'!
  7. Is there a way to be able to find a cache, log it in your PDA under the "found" catagory with an ending time and it be sorted by time found? This would be very beneficial to those of us that like to log our finds in the sequence that they are found. As of now I have to manually look through all the finds for a particular day and view the ending time in order to see which order I need to log them on GC.com. Maybe this is an option that I am overlooking and is already in place. If so please guide me to the correct direction in which I can make this change. Thanks for your understanding and also a SUPER program! Happy cachin'!
  8. Yea, I used his instructions and it works fine with ME. I had to create a shortcut to that particular folder then it allowed me to change the icon. Thanks for your help!
  9. Thanks Martmann for your help. I run Windows ME. Thanks anyway!
  10. A crazy question but here goes. How do you change your icons from the little yellow folder to lets say a cache box unopened? I've got the pic downloaded and ready to go but don't have a clue as to how to change it? Any ideas? Thanks, Dwayne
  11. Excuse me, but this is nuts. Why does it even matter? Yes, I have been on a few of those myself and really enjoyed it. As a matter of fact, I very seldom go without at least my wife or a friend. I have been with as few as myself and as many as 8-10 when caching and would much rather go with others when hunting. The way I look at it, what does it matter? To each is their own. I have been with some very experienced cachers before such as JoGPS, Southpaw, Monkeybrad, AngelFly, Rob, Groundsquirrel, P-Herm and several others that I won't bore you with all the names. I really enjoyed the company and learned from each experience. Like what was said above, if you would rather that the CM's not look for your cache, then post it as such on the page. As far as the caches that I have out there, GO FOR IT, CM's or singles, doesn't matter to me. I enjoy reading the logs and take enough pride in my caches that I want many people to visit them, even as a group. In closing, no pun intended but I would also suggest that you go out and find some caches. It's fun, alone or in my opinion, with others regardless of the size of the group. Happy cachin'!!
  12. I would have to agree with Monkeybrad, TNGeocacher is awesome! On all of my caches I can say that the average turn around time is probably less than 10 minutes. I have even had a few that would be in the 1-4 minute range. This guy/gal is on top of what they are doing. And on another note, if you need to send them an email or have a question they have the same turn around time. I have told him/her before and will do so again, THANKS TNGEOCACHER, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!!! Happy cachin'!
  13. Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone has a GREAT 2004! Don't forget our troops across the waters defending our freedom! Without you we would not enjoy this great sport along with many other things! Stay safe and Godspeed!!!
  14. Let me say that I think the rules that are currently in place regarding vacation caches are good. Sure, there are ways around the issue if one chooses to skirt them, but why? Yes, they have been done before and will surely be done again, but why create more rules if the ones that are in place are working for 99.9% of the people involved? Woodsters, I would like to make a suggestion to you. When you go back home to visit in Georgia please use your spare time that you have to get new people involved in the sport. Then maybe you will not have to worry about not having many caches back home. It sounds as though you have this GREAT place to hide a cache back there but can't without bending or breaking a rule. Introduce someone to the sport, suggest that special place to hide a cache and when you visit your parents again, BINGO, a find!!! Why re-invent the wheel when the current one is not broken? Why bring up old topics and get almost no support from the others that are replying? Rules are a lot like laws, not everyone goes by them, right? But why is this being brought up again? Is it in the hopes that someone will agree and the rules will change? As far as I can read on this post it doesn't look as much has changed in opinions as the last time you posted regarding this topic. Merry Christmas Woody and hopefully you will get what you wanted. I just hope that changing the rules regarding vacation caches isn't on your wish list any time soon. Happy cachin'!
  15. As I mentioned in one of my last posts...................."the wheel on the bus goes round and round, round and round, round and round.................(you know the rest)". Same few people, different day. To stay on topic, I like it (forums and moderators) just the way it is now except for the same ole 8-10 folks that keep stirring the pot. I agree with JoGPS 100% on his above thread. Happy cachin' all!!!
  16. You know, it never seems to amaze me how much crap goes on here in the forums. But almost 100% of the time when you uncover the pile of s*** that gets stirred up it you seem to find the same ole 8-10 "rebels" laying under the pile that started it in the first place. As far as the points in this particular topic, "the wheel on the bus goes round and round, round and round......................(you know the rest)". Off topic or on topic, why don't the same ole 8-10 that constantly try (and most of the time suceed) to stir up the s*** just go off in your own little world, create a "anti rules, anti regulations, anti almost everything" rebel site and discuss it yourselves? I agree with Jeremy, some people just have too much time on thier hands behind the keys of the keyboard. Get out there out from behind your keyboard in the wild, find a few caches that do meet the guidelines and quit crying so much. And as far as the "X" site, my money is on that it will not even get off the ground. If it does and it creates confusion and halts the good things we do have going in the current realm of things, I hope the folks involved are happy. It would not surprise me if they were happy though because after all, they type on here more that they obviously look for caches (by the looks of number of finds versus number of posts). My 2 cents worth, have at it! If my warn percentage goes up after this then so be it, I for one am tired of being silent when the bashing continues each and every day from the same ole 8-10! Happy cachin'!!
  17. I have a Magellan GPS and have found no way of deleting old waypoints from a pocket query from my GPS without deleting them individually. Is there a way to be able to delete by catagory of downloaded waypoints such as on a Garmin Legend? It seems very time consuming to delete each waypoint one by one to make room for the new pocket query that I have run several times each week. I have a Garmin Legend also as mentioned above and find it very user friendly to be able to delete by icon (each downloaded waypoint) in a batch and not individually and then just download the new batch of waypoints from the query. Maybe I am doing something wrong, I don''t know??? Thanks for your time and help on this question.
  18. Thanks guys! I knew someone out there had that same question. Thanks again!!
  19. Thanks Bill for your help but I already know how to do a visual search for them. What I am trying to do is be able to get a GPX file so I can download the descriptions to my PDA for reference in the field without having to print the pages. Thanks again!
  20. Does anyone know of a way to run a query for locationless caches that I have not found? Thanks in advance for your input!
  21. I knew that the issue would be handled! You guys and gals are the best!!!! Thanks so much for your quick response!!!
  22. Lisa, ditto here as well. I don't know what the problem is??? I have tried to run several queries but they are all just allowing the short description and nothing from the long. Everything else is ok, the past logs, hints and etc. Since there is more than just a few of us I wonder if it on Groundspeaks end. I have went back and tried several other querys from days past and no problems at all. This shows me that it's not a cachemate problem, at least I don't think it is?????
  23. First of all let me say that I use a Garmin Legend and have a pda downloaded with cachemate. Maybe it's just a fluke but when I got my pocket query tonight I noticed that the file was not as big as normal. After downloading my waypoints to my gps via easygps, I then proceeded to download it also to my pda. After successful completition of this I noticed that all of the cache description was not there??? I recieved the file in the GPX format also? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Maybe it's just a one time thing, dunno???
  24. Everything sounds good to us so far. With 2 kids at home, we will have to plan around them but so far, so good. Sounds like something that will be fun and also a good starting point. As far as the logo above, it looks great! Would it be very difficult to put the Groundspeak logo behind it and leave everything else the way it is? It looks great though! So far count in 2 couples from the Morristown area, Groundsquirrel & Chunky Chipmonk and us. Thanks Stosh for making this happen! What about Team Bert?? Anyone heard from them?
  25. Welcome aboard! Hope you have many enjoyable days out cachin'! Happy hunting!
