  1. I had the same problem with mine. I left it on in the active setup and turned off my gps. A couple of days later I checked again and there whey were, weird.
  2. You have to click on regions, then save on hard drive and then copy to gps. Can't save direct to gps. Use the conversion manager that came with your gps to convert and copy to it.
  3. PM me your e-mail address. The file is 6 megs zipped.
  4. You might also try to format the card. Also try to use the internal mem like bassmig said.
  5. That is not the problem. When I only connect the gps to usb only my comp does not reconize it ans when I add external power it is ok.
  6. Actually I don't have a 600 but a 500LE and I have it setup so that I can upload maps and so on. I have been playing around with this thing for 2 weeks to get it to work. I have also removed all software and drivers buy formatting and my computer does recognize my gps just the same as long as I connect it as stated above.
  7. P.S. I also got a second cable to see it that was the problem and no go. You might even have a power cable that might work for a digital camera or something. It is 5V.
  8. I know it does not come with one but I have one to charge the lithium batt I got and that is the only way it will work on my comp and other comp that I tried.
  9. Try this. Connect cable to gps and then power adapter, not usb yet. Then turn on gps and wait until a few sats lock in, then attach usb. Let me know if it works.
  10. Hi I'm not going to pretend to know everything but xp or vista does not need drivers to connect to gps. The gps acts like an external drive and no drivers needed. I too have had some problems with my comp. reading my gps. I tried vista and xp with same results. The only way that it can read it is attach cable and power to gps, not usb. Then turn on gps and wait until it tracks 3 or more sats, then plug in usb. Don't know why but that is the only way it will work. I think it is a problem with some of the explorist sold. Someone try this and let me know if it works. THNX.
  11. Thanks for the reply. I was going atving and when I stop for a while I was going to shut off my gps but it is still charging because I have bypassed the power on the atv to stay on all the time. I hate the anoying beeping that says lost external power. I was just wondering if leaving it charging for lets say 20 minutes if it would drain my atv batt. I do have a large one in there buy it is an efi and it needs lots of juice to start. I guess I can always change back the power to shut off when atv is turned off. Thanks again Trail Buzzards
  12. I have a explorist 500 and a dc chager that I want to use on my atv. When I connect it to my atv it shows that it is charging the battery not in external power like my sportrak did. I want to know if it will run down the battery if I shut down my atv for a while. Has anyone tried this. I have a rally to go to this weekend and don't want to keep unpluging it all the time. THNX.
  13. I had bought my gps from ebay and sent an e-mail to him about it and he is going to send me a new one tommorow without me sending my old on back. Great guy. His name is flicha66 from quebec. I would recomend him to anyone.
  14. Thanks for your advice. I'll try it. It is nice that some people with experience can take time to help others like me. Tanks again.
  15. I checked the power comming out of my cable using only the usb and I have 4.9v at the contacts. I also tried to power the gps without the battery and it does go on but the power indicator shows low battery. Also when I do connect my external power should my gps say that it is on a external power source. The battery indicator just goes up a little. I also took out my 1 gig card and same results. Also tried it on my old computer and guess what same thing. It can't be the cable if so many people are having the same problem. Anything else I could try.
  16. So do you mean that your gps goes into usb mode without the power cable attached. My gps is new and when I only plug in the usb I get an error saying that it does not reconize my gps.
  17. I have the same problem with mine. I found that if I connect my gps to a power supply and then turn it on and wait until it tracks a few satillites, then hook up to a rear usb port on my computer, it works just fine. But the only thing I don't know why is that when I disconect the usb it shuts off in a couple of seconds.
  18. If you were to install it on another computer it will work. An easy way would have been to do a backup of your computer before the install and you could have done it that way.
  19. I would like to know how to backup the basemap and the firmware on my explorist500. I tried the secret functions buy pressing nav and power and going to #98 for basemap upload but I would like to know where is it backing up. On my mem card. It sticks on uploading basemap for a long time. The same goes for for the firmware. Where is it. I just like to have a backup just in case.
