  1. And there was I thinking that one could not publicise caches on this forum....................
  2. Brilliant! This is the first one of these that actually works!! Many thanks for the tip off.
  3. Could I respectfully point out that apart from a small section of track leading off the B3098 near Duntsey's School which is clearly marked as a Byway (open to all vehicular traffic), you appear to have driven on a Bridle Path where vehicles are not allowed and along tracks marked as having no public right of way. Maybe the lack of signage pointing out the TRO was because no vehicles would be expected to use those tracks.
  4. Unashamedly plagiarised from a previous post:- "....A geocacher turns up at the local nick........ "Officer, I want to report a theft" "Oh yes sir, was it valuable?" "Yes, it was to me" "And where did you last see it?" "Well, I left it in a plastic box beside a public footpath and then posted it's location on the internet"...................."
  5. I don't think it is "us". If you look at the posts over the last few months or so you will see that the UK does not follow the normal 80-20 rule, more like 95-5. It is also interesting to perform the calculation "Number of Posts/Number of months in the sport"
  6. OK folks, just take off your geocaching hats for a moment and imagine the scene:- A geocacher turns up at the local nick........ "Officer, I want to report a theft" "Oh yes sir, was it valuable?" "Yes, it was to me" "And where did you last see it?" "Well, I left it in a plastic box beside a public footpath and then posted it's location on the internet".................... There are bad apples in every barrel, one has to learn to live with the fact!
  7. quote:Originally posted by Omally:Just one thing: where does it say that the HCC cache bash is anything to do with the GAGB? I'm sure we'd all be interested to know. Granted, some folks who are helping to organise the event are indeed members of the GAGB, but this is not a GAGB-run event................. quote:Originall posted by Team Blitz......I'm hoping to put up an A4 "GAGB" sign, and a "Geocacher's Picnic" sign at the entrance to the car-park, so you'll know you're at the right place.............. paul ............and the picnic was not a GAGB organised event either............... Bah, humbug!
  8. Are these GAGB people ever going to stop patting themselves on the back........??? Bah, humbug!
  9. quote:Originally posted by Lost in Space: "Axlinian"?? What on earth is that?? Axle/Axis - around which things, (the world), rotate? Must be someone down in Hants then............. Bah, humbug!
  10. quote:Originally posted by jeremyp:He wouldn't be the first person to post a less than diplomatic thread on a forum... ...would he... :-) Typical "Gooner's" comment. Bah, humbug!
  11. Just a couple of final questions before we all put this to bed: 1. Why did the forming members of GAGB keep all their discussions so secret until their hand was forced by a posting on GC:UK, (quote: Moss Trooper)? 2. I can totally understand why the cache approvers would be on the "committee", but what was the rationale behind the others? Bah, humbug!
  12. What's this geocache.uk site? How come I have never heard of it before? Having just visitied I think it is BRILLIANT! Come on guys, let's start advertising it more!! Bah, humbug!
  13. Are you being serious, or just fooling around? As it is I am getting quite confused as to all the rules and regulations and what can be done/what can't be done with this geocaching. Confused. Bah, humbug!
  14. Sorry if I am speaking out of term but as a "newbie" I have been directed to, and have read, a lot of the past forum posts looking for rules and regulations not to break. One of these rules was about not advertising caches on this forum - rather to use Geocacheuk. Am I reading things incorrectly? Bah, humbug!

  16. quote:Sorry to be a wet blanket but I think the general concensus is that foodstuffs are a no-no _ Excuse my ignorance as I am new to geocaching, but what is wrong with putting food or drink in caches? After all, after a long hike, it would seem just the thing. Am I missing something? Bah, humbug!
