  1. Been sitting on this one long enough. (can't find my old posting with photos) ~ was going to post a couple photos and do some minor changes but it looks like that since "Officer" review the Cat. "EDIT" is not available any more. - See: http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=434d6bbd-1e37-47e0-96d5-f1c6b3f3bb2a&exp=True
  2. Used my tablet. Preloaded it and it turned out to be useless. (Wi-Fi was very expensive) ~ Most people use iPhones to find the caches. I did a "Google Maps" search at home and narrowed it down to that. Found the 'John Lennon Park' and a few Waymarks that way. Bummer tho that Groundspeak does NOT have a "Souvenir" for Cuba ... Shame seeing the number of Geocaches already found on the Island.
  3. "FRAME A VIEW"..... means you frame the view with a photo
  4. "Framing a View" or Framed View sound good to me. - usually there is a plaque at the location to explain what you are viewing which could also be a "Variable"
  5. Can't sign into my iPod Touch. ~ Won't accept my 'Password' Tried on two laptops and all (Geocaching&Waymarking) sign-ins work fine [as here] ~ Was sent a CONFIRMATION CODE,by Groundspeak, which I entered but still wont accept my sign in. BTW: Just did a 'Software Update' to IOS 6.1.2 and still can't sign in Apps works but when going on line asks for password.
  6. As Bruce mentioned above "Prevalance" was the reason we didn't include them in our "People-Named Places" - On the other hand if it only accepts "local" individuals the Category would work. - Named streets would still have to meet the minimum distance requirements. - Definately need to post some kind of description about the person and not just "He was the Mayor" or "Local Hero" etc... you get the point.
  7. I can second that! Here in Hawai`i every street leading away from the Ocean has a sign with "Evacuation Road" on it but no area for a "Safe Zone". - Some are farther away than others depending on the terrain.
  8. I still do! Merry Christmas everyone AMAZING --- Over 61000, that is sixty-one thousand "Page Views"
  9. It's 'Ironic' that I came across this link seeing I had made a comment on Daniel's page about a couple of years ago, "All those that read the whole information/detail page above put up their hands ", to which there was only one reply!!! .... one from Daniel "I do" (LOL) - I am referring to his #1 rated Earthcache in Hawai`i ~ Olivine (Mg,Fe)2SiO4 - DP/EC38
  10. Personally I acknowledge every e-mail with "close enough, perfect or thanks for visiting" or I'll try to elicit the right answer or correct the mistakes. - Some Earthcaches take a long time to set up with various amount of research involved not to mention the number of rejections or verifications we have to go through before approval is granted. - The least anyone can do, wanting to earn a "Smilie", is give us some credit for setting up the Earthcache. I know some don't like this way of earning their smilie and would rather earn it by lifting a lamppost skirt. TO EACH THEIR OWN!
  11. Only "Charter Members?" ? PITY. :-((
  12. Here is another one for you [GCCODE=GC24NP8][/GCCODE] http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=c48138a4-b7f4-4d1e-a90b-8b9a6dc40b83&log=y&decrypt= November 18, 2010 by JamesBoyd (9 found) What a cache. First off, this was an excellent multi cache, clever hides and clever ending. However, we decided to tackle this one at night time (around 12:30am to be exact) which made it even more challenging and even more rewarding after finishing it. However, however, after noticing a police helicopter flying over head for around 10 minutes thinking someone escaped from the nearby mental health clinic, we spotted a van close by our car who eventually turned around and left. Immediately after pulling onto the main road away from the cache, the helicopter lights shone down directly on our vehicle and soon after we were pulled ofter. From nowhere two more cop car surround our vehicle as I begin to roll down the window. The officer approached the car to ask the most difficult question as a geocacher, "What are you guys doing out here?". After a short explanation we tried to show them as much proof as possible (the GPS, pictures of the first two caches et cetera) and even offered to show them the last one. Wouldn't you know it they called our bluff. After a short walk from where we were pulled over we lead them straight to the cache and after they checked my licence and we had some laughs we were good to go. No charges, no warnings just confused faces. Needless to say this is probably not a good cache to do at night. As one of the officers bluntly stated "If you're out in the bush shinning lights everywhere at 12am, the helicopter is most likely looking for you." TFTC and for something me and my friends will never forget.
  13. I would still like see you add the "Additional Waypoint" box to Waymarking. These could be used for parking, entrances or places where the actual listed co-ordinates are not the the place being waymarked or some distance from the a Waymark.
  14. The way I see it was that he was upset about "copy & paste" of every "VISIT" and if required the Waymarks had no photos. - Not a word in the Waymark visits except ->"Part of my disney waymark tour." Question: All visited on the 28th of October 2009 ????? WOW EDIT: This was written before the above post was published
  15. ... and here I thought I had a 'computer virus' -- Been getting reminders for at least a couple of weeks that some of the links don't work and therefore G.cachers were unable, in some cases, to find the required information in locating a cache. Yes, the <a href=" and </a> have disappeared and some urls have 2 % # @ "; etc. characters added to it so I had to post all new links again. At times I tried the <a href .... a number of times (5,6,7) until I finally gave up. -- I just hate having to spend endless hours updating my Geocaches and also links on my Waymarks. (Odd that the WAYMARK Categories don't seem to be affected)
  16. said it "timed out" but was posted
  17. I also have placed 'Coupons' into caches as a 'F.T.F.' or a book of McDucks coupons, cash cards or asked finders to take 1 coupon or one per person only. Placed free CDs from Wall*** for photo Shop ... freeware music CDs re-recorded and Tim Hortons free coffee coupons. So why not free "Coffee Coupons" ????
  18. I actually liked the Waymarking concept when it first came out and created a few waymarks and tried to log a few, but what has turned me off is that the site seems to be so "dead" (i.e. I have few if any visits to any of my waymarks, and often I'm the only visitor at the ones I've found). Maybe better integration with GC.com would help. I admit "giving up" on the site is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, if others feel the way I do, we're kind of "killing it ourselves", but maybe as winter comes we'll try to visit some more waymarks. I think there is some confusion here. Pick any "Category" and you'll find "Waymarks" Check the "Waymarks" and you'll find very few "Visits" Now lets look at L.Cs. If you are the owner of an "LC' you get lots (hopefully) log visits, but each log/post doesn't get any visits at all. ( a 1 step 2 step system) LCs = "Categories" LC logs= "Waymarks" LC logs= no visits Waymarks get visits Go find and submit a "Category" or find someone elses and be the first to submit a "Waymark" or maybe "Visit" one yourself. (a 1 step -2 step -3 step system) So where is the beef? Is this it? --->

  20. Got mine transferred 2 days ago and it has 1 new log/visit already and 45 hits. This is one I adopted from "TheBlueQuasar" Bruce Alvar Nature Reserves. As all old logs are lost they would have to be re-logged sp/
  21. ....and three "Waymarks" to boot. for that store/s --- where did that cigar store indian come from?
