  1. We are taking a road trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario from Central NJ in April. Caches are pretty sparse on the road, but there are a lot thru the metro areas and near Niagara itself. Does anyone have any suggestions for some must see caches? thanks jandm
  2. Congrats! Sorry we missed it. JandM
  3. We'll be scrapping wallpaper off the kitchen walls today (exciting, I know) but we'll try to take a break. I have connections. We can have the local swiftwater rescue team on standby. Maybe we'll see you there. I wonder if the good King will show up.

Although he has placed a temporary moratorium on caching until it's at least 45 degrees out, I'll try to convince him to go. What time should we head over there? ~JandM
  5. We haven't gotten it yet. I'd probably have to come without Joe, but that's no problem. What are your plans for day/time? If we're lucky and Joe can come, we'll bring the command vehicle so we'll have a direct link to the 911 dispatchers.

    Man, that's amazing!

    Geotrip

OH GOD! We still have a bug from here that we picked up over a month ago! And I see that we've screwed up and she hasn't met her goal I will place her somewhere this week. Ugh, I feel horrible.
  8. We usually bring water and assorted snacks and goodies and a sandwich or 2, depending on the length of the trip. I fill up my hydration pack and stow everything we need in the expandable daypack. I like to bring along fruits and veggies for a quick snack and some cheese for protein. And I always keep a PowerBar or 2 in my pack anyway. When we go out for a whole day of caching a keep a cooler with backup water and more food, too. And of course we bring treats for Molly the Monster.
  9. Molly, Joe and I had a great time doing this last year. We'd like to do it again, if he can get a whole weekend off from work. If not, maybe I can go on my own or leave Molly home and partner up with someone else in the area... I'll let him know of the date!
  10. Congrats! I enjoy reading all of your logs. Hopefully we'll get to do some of your caches soon, too! Maybe if Joe ever gets a day off from work we'll hit 50!

    Group Hunts

Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful. Anyone want to get together and cache? There are several near Baldpate Mountain we haven't hit yet. Just a though. JandM

    Group Hunts

I was thinking about trying to meet up with you after my class without Molly. But I've hurt my back (thanks to Molly, who decided to take off across the yard at something or other while I was holding her leash), so I'm not really up for hiking/caching tomorrow. But thanks so much. We will try to come out with the group soon! ~Melissa
  13. Joe and I had been dating for about a month or so when he mentioned some "treasure hunting thing" one of his friends had showed him about while they were at the NJ Firemen's Convention in Wildwood. He knew the concept but didn't know the name. I mentioned it to some of my techno-geek friends who directed me to the site. Joe and I have been caching since then. It's only been 6 months or so, but we love it and plan on doing it as much as we can! ~JandM(and sometimes Molly, too)

    Group Hunts

Molly and I would love to join the group (minus Joe because he'll be working as always), but it doesn't look like we'll be available until 1:30 or 2. Maybe we'll get to do the next group hike/hunt (with Joe, too)! Melissa
  15. This thread is precisely why I am always telling Joe not to stick his hands in cracks and crevices. That said, I fear it's only a matter of time before he encounters a snake much closer than he would like. We did come across 3 snakes in the Watchung Reservations. Well, one of them came across me while slithering over my hand as I was making my way to Steeps Over Green Brook. We also came across 2 little guys while heading to one of the Copper Mine caches in the same park. He was brown with 1 yellow stripe on each side and a diamond-like pattern repeating down his back. He was about 12-16 inches long. I'd love to post the picture, but I can't figure out how. ~JandM
  16. A few weeks back we were caching in the Atlantic City area and picked up some brochures for the NJ Lighthouse Challenge 2003. We thought some of you might be interested. I was thinking of making the 11 lighthouses on the tour a virtual-multi after we complete the challenge. We hope some of you get to enjoy this. JandM

    Group Hunts

We're up for some group hunting. But since we both work in the corporate slaveship of America, we generally only have weekends free. (If we're lucky JandM
  18. Does such a thing even exist? I have seen posts for a NY group. We seem to have such a strong and large group of cachers here. Any interest in starting something? ~JandM
  19. If you're not part of a club that does trail maintenance and would like to lend a hand, check out National Public Lands day at NPLD.com. If you're in NJ and worried about losing a good day of caching, take note that there is a session at Hartshorne Woods in Middletown (Monmouth County). There are several caches in and around the park. M will be there! Thanks, JandM
  20. Wondering if anyone has a list of caches in this area. We'd like to plan a day of caching there, but don't know the area or it's boundaries well. I have come up with about 10 that I think may be there. Please verify if you can. I've come up with these: Steeps Over Greenbrook Reservation 1 Reservation 2 Roaring Trucks Snuffy's Gulch Go Copper Mining Copper Mine 2 Copper Mine 3 Watchung Walk Dead Center Thanks for your help ahead of time. Happy caching, JandM
