  1. Great responses. Thanks to you all for your input. My first cache was published today with a(n appropriate) FTF prize. Since it hasn't been found yet I won't say what it is, but the $ value depends on the user's preferences and recreational activities.
  2. I am getting my first two caches together. Is there any etiquette to a FTF prize? I would like to get some advice from the veteran FTF hounds out there (and be honest ).
  3. I have been using CacheMate on my WM6 BlackJackI with a BT GPSr puck for about 8 mos. It works great. I set up my pocketcaches weekly, download them to the BJ, import the GPX file into CachMate, and I'm on my way. It has a navigation option that will show your heading and distance to the cache. Pretty sweet for $8. Oh, and upgrades are free . It would be nice if it had map overlays, but maybe in future upgrades. Check it out: www.smittyware.com
  4. Tarrafis, CacheMate does work with WM6 GPS interface, and very well. That is what I am using on my BlackJack with WM6, with nice results. Perhaps you were looking at the wrong version? Smittyware has two versions for WM6; the pocket PC version (touchpad phones), or the Smartphone (non-touchpad, like the BlackJack). Here is the Smartphone version link: http://smittyware.com/ppc/cachemate/ (Full disclosure: I have no association with, or interest in the sale of CacheMate. I am just a happy user)
  5. I have a Samsung Blackjack I and use CacheMate (smittyware dot com) with a GPSr bluetooth puck. This is my sole geocaching rig and it works great. CacheMate is a one-time $8 purchase with free upgrades. In my book, it is one of the best values going.
  6. Works great!! This is the software I have been looking for since I bought my BlackJack. It really simplifies things; Cachemate and GSAK are about all I will need. Keep up the good work!
  7. Apparently the entire point was lost... the fix wasn't to give you something your device never had (the MS Bluetooth stack), but to fix the problem you were having with the NMEA Serial plugin and not keeping a connection to the GPS receiver. You're right, I missed the point. I got it working this time (NMEA Serial, Port 4, 4800 baud). It found my location. I think I had unrealistic ideas, about the capabilites of the program. I thought it would have a virtual compass that showed my bearing and distance to a cache or waypoint that I selected from the database. Obiously you have those capabilities planned for the future, but not yet. Kudos on a great little program anyway.
  8. Thanks for uploading the new CAB. I uninstalled the previous ver and installed the new one. However, I am still only seeing one option for GPS connection: NMEA Serial. Again, this is only after I specify my COM port. Before that, I have no options. Should there be a NMEA MS Bluetooth option? I am experiencing something called frustration.
  9. To configure the GPS, in CacheMate I went to Menu=>Options=>Preferences=>Plugins. I set GPS Location Query to NMEA, which only appeard as an option after I configured the NMEA Serial to Port 04. I have been playing with different baud rates, but it does not seem to matter. I worked with it for about an hour last night, but I did not see any other plugin configuration settings related to BT or GPS. When I open a cache, and opent the Actions option, the navigate, mapping, and misc options are greyed out.
  10. I am really glad to see this version; I might have even been the first purchaser! The install went very smoothly and I got my pocket GPX file imported easily. However I am having some trouble with getting it to talk to my Bluetooth GPS. I manually configured it to the serial port, but everytime I try to connect, it says "connection to the GPS receiver lost". I know that the port works okay since both Google Maps and Live Search are able to lock on a GPS position. What am I doing wrong? My device(s): Samsung BlackJack I WM5 i-Blue 737 Bluetooth GPS (32 channel MTK chipset )
