  1. I always thought this kind of thing has slowly disappeared over the years but I dunno. I always saw these kind of logs back when we first started but not so much anymore. *cough* On a side note, we recently found a letterbox that had about a dozen finds logged online and no less than 50 signatures and stamps in the logbook! And that had been around for two years. Guess the philosophy is different around there.
  2. How about a little benchmarking? Who needs to actually go there when you can see the water tower on Google Earth? Provide the same Google map link that's on every page and you've got some free BMs there. This guy apparently found 141 benchmarks by just looking them up and going from there.
  3. 540 within 15 miles. Northeast Ohio. That'll last me a looong time on my scale.
  4. Let's see.... -Gps -Camera -Palm -Plastic bags for CITO -A folder with a few Geocaching procures and Faqs -Swag and travel bugs if any -A large pile of extra batteries -Pens and paper for those puzzles And sometimes for benchmarks -Measuring Tape -Water bottle -Paper towels to dry and clean it. All in a small backpack that I used in 1st through 3rd grade That's pretty light and wouldn't be good for any long hikes but in most cases it's more then enough.
  5. I suppose so. I once took a TB from my own cache. It was my first TB too and I didn't leave anything.
  6. Ok I just did a multi in Waterworks it should be up by tom.
  7. Today I went to check the cache with my dad. I ran ahead an what a surprise I had-there they were bikes in their hands. They said hi and asked me how the geocaching was going. Then I checked the cache, it was untouched-nobody even found it. After we talked to them for a while we left to find another cache. I don't know but maybe I won't have to move it.
  8. I put the cache back but when I was there I saw two bikes near the cache. It could be the kids bikes or it could be something else, we checked the woods around it and found no sneaky kids waiting for me to leave.
  9. I disabled the cache today. By looking at it they took the log and left a smashed pop can. Then they probaly didn't seal it correctly and when the rain came it got wet.
  10. I see you've got Newberry. Maybe I can do Waterworks. I might do a multi.
  11. A week or two back I went to check on my cache while riding my bike and I was followed by two geomuggles. The geomuggles looked about my age [11]. The better side got the best of me and I showed them my cache. After telling them over and over not to trash my cache they agreed. They thought it was pretty cool that there was a stash of stuff in the neighorhood. I said they could trade items if they wanted to. But today a cacher said the cache was soaked and there was no logbook. I'm betting they took the logbook and forgot to seal the cache tight-so how do I stop them from getting angry at me but keep my cache running?
  12. Why is it that cache locations are expressed to an accuracy like this: N 40 08.407, three decimal places, yet my new $300 Magellan Platinum only expresses points to two decimal places, e.g. N 40 08.41 ??? What kind of GPS is used by cache authors to describe where caches are placed to that precision level? Shouldn't a WAAS enabled GPS display more precison than a non-WAAS enabled GPS? Thanks
