  1. I recently travelled from Australia to London on business and dropped off our first four Travel Bugs to the much popular London Letterbox & Travel bug xchange in Regents Park. Within days of it being put in they one appears to have had the tag switched to another item and another two have been stolen (while the cache remains intact) or moved without a report. Only one has been moved on successfully. My seven year old is gutted and spent most of this morning crying when he found out. Is this a common occurrence to have TB's ruined or stolen by other cachers !? I have to say this has really turned me off the whole idea. I took a day out of my trip to London to set these bugs off on their journey. What a waste of time and money.
  2. What I am after is an understanding of the relative difference in the models by cost/make. Are the models from either manufacturer under US$250 any good for GeoCaching ? Do the cheaper models have poorer resolution/accuracy in the GPS ? Do the cheaper models have GeoCaching functionality ? I hear about people marking Caches as found on the GPS. Do the cheaper models support GPX/LOC files ? I have read that the "basemaps" installed on these GPS units can't be changed from your region? What if I *shock* live outside the US can you get add-on maps for other areas (Australia, Europe, etc) What is GPSr ? We are happily using a Nokia 6110 Navigator mobile phone with GPS, but seem to be missing out on all the GPX file fun and simplicity of having dedicated GeoCaching functionality. Any help or pointers to help appreciated. Thanks Al
  3. I'd also welcome an API (REST, SOAP, etc). Functionality like the following would be great List of your own History (finds, etc) by Date, including Lat/Lon List of your own Caches, including Lat/Lon List of your own Travel Bugs, including Cache ID (if in Cache) and Location by Lat/Lon (if in Cache) List of your Travel Bugs held Ability to list Cache's within x Km or Miles of a Lat/Lon Detailed results for a Cache by ID Detailed results for a Cache by ID, including Last x Logs Non-commercial use on obviously, this is all for personal use (sharing adventures with family and/or helping with hunting). could even make it Premium Members only and use our subscription keys as the API key to track usage.
  4. Anyone out there using this phone ? We have just started GeoCaching (today) and have found it to be very usable (as long as you bring a car charger with you). I'd be very interested in hearing if anyone is using any cool S60 GPS applications to load LOC or other GC Waypoint files into the phone. I tried AFTrack91 for 3rd Gen S60 but it seems to require a Bluetooth GPS until and ignores the inbuilt one. As you may have guessed I'm also new to using GPS in general. Is it normal/acceptable for the GPS to only allow adding locations to 4 decimal places for a Decimal Lat/Lon ? Lots of the coords I find on GC convert to 5 decimal places. Am I missing out on some extra granularity ? We search for 3 caches local to us in Melbourne Australia and found 2 (woohoo!) so it can't be that bad. Any advice ?
