I have had the WAAS/EGNOS as enabled when I am using the GPS but I don't get any confirmation that I actualy receive signals. But then again, I looked at the coverage maps from ESA and the part of Sweden I live in is outside of the main coverage area so to say =P I have to do som emore testing I think...

As a matter of fact, I had no idea about EGNOS until yesterday when there was some thread regarding the WAAS satelites. I searched on wikipedia and saw that WAAS is North America only and thats when I first heard of EGNOS which also can be read about at wikipedia. They also have som links to ESA about EGNOS. Have not had time to check them out though... still at work http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EGNOS

I live in Sweden and my Vista HCx landed two days ago. I have also had some thoughts regarding the EGNOS and my gps. I have not had time though to investigate. However, I will be outside in the forests this evening and I can check then and get back to you =)

Btw, is there a posibility to display the position on the map screen as well?

Congrats! The Vista HCx is a fantastic little unit. I'm sure you'll think so too... Read through the messages here. There's information about quirks with the different unit software versions. If the WAAS bug in v2.20 doesn't bother you, I would stick with that version. The new v2.30 introduces a very annoying "hint" feature that you may want to avoid. Personally, I wish I'd stayed at v2.20. Yes, I have followed all threads conserning the Vista HCx for the last 14 days =) As of yet I have not checked out all the bugs repoerted in this thread but I will do in time.

Wooohooooooooooooooooo! =D=D=D My baby has arrived! I have just picked the package up from the logistics company that had visited my house 12:20 local time. They had left a note so I called FedEx and asked if I could get it by my self today and they gave me the adress! I havn't opened it yet, I am still at work with about 26 minutes and 22 second to go and then I will ride my bike like never before XD I will return later if I havn't died of over excitement ^^

So how often do you need to calibrate this feature? Is it enough if you visit a known point of hight once a year or so or do you have to calibrate it more oten than that?

Right on the spot you are! My Vista HCx will arrive this week and had you guys not compared it with other units, I would not have known about this issue =) Let´s hope Garmin fix this for some later firmware upgrade. If I understand correctly, I can extract the logged trip and let my laptop show the length of it and thus compare that number to the odom? I will look into this when [Gollum mode]my precioussssssssssss[/Gollum mode] arrives.

Hello there fellow European! =) I live in Sweden and the HCx won't show up here for some time I think. So I ordered from the US (www.offroute.com) and will recieve it this week. Here in Sweden I am still waiting for my little beauty to arrive. It was shipped yesterday so I will have it later next week. dadgum I'm psyched! ^^ Thank good I recieved another toy yesterday so my mind will be occupied with something else than just waiting =P I have already constructed beautiful maps over the local area that far outcompetes whatever map Garmin sells in the store ;D

I just noticed that Walmart.com has bumped the price up to $299.98. Glad I got my order in at $235.88. I just noticed too damnit! ;P Yesterday it was at $235.88... But I don't get my money until tomorrow anyway... And I had just found a way to ship it to Sweden despite that Walmart dont ship international...

Thanks everyone! You guys have just made my day! I have finaly decided that the Vista HCx definetly is something for me =) All I have to do now is find a store online in the US that ships international. You have no idea how lucky you are over there. Here in Sweden the Vista HCx has a price tag of the ordinary Vista Cx is between 500-600$ ;P
