  1. Thanks to those who answered. Yes, they were really already there. I didn't realize that only 50 showed. I really appreciate the help. Steve
  2. I'm sort of stumbling around here. I set up a set of geocaches on the west coast in GSAK (I live east but will be visiting shortly) I connected the GPS to the computer and told it to send. The program says "OK" that they were sent but when I look at the GPS I can't find them under either waypoints or geocaches. I've done this before but it was some time back! Anyway, my old geocaches do show up but none of the new ones. Hopefully someone can help me figure this out! Thanks, Steve
  3. I went out on my first Cache run today. (unsuccesful but a beatiful walk) I selected the Geocache and elected GOTO. I tracked to the area of the cache. When I finally gave up I selected my home waypoint in order to plot the route back for practice. I tried this a few times and every time the GPS would simply plot the route from where I was back to the cache. I stopped navigation and tried again. All I could get was the route to the cache. I finally deleted the cache and that worked. I spoke to Garmin today and they said it shouldn't do that.... anyone here have any ideas? Also, on the way back I happened to run into the owner of the cache and told him were i was searching. He told me approximately where it was and I was about 100 feet away from it. This with the GPS reading accuracy of 19 ft. This was in woods with leaf cover and some breeze. I also noticed that at time the GPS would say I Needed to go 30 ft north. I would go about 15 ft north and then it would be telling me that I needed to go 20 ft south. Is this typical or do I have some sort of issue with my procedures or the GPS? I appreciate any help. THanks, Steve
  4. Thanks, that was really helpful. If the automatic program is selecting the maps can you tell me if there is a way to tell what map it is selecting? Thanks, Steve
  5. Thanks for the info! Hi, I've been reading this with interest. I've just downloaded Topo 2008 and City Nav. N America NT to my 60Csx. Is there a way to switch between the maps? When I went through the description above on my unit I found I had an endless list of maps! Do I have to switch these off and on manually? I was hoping there was a way to switch from Topo to City and back again more simply than that! I'm finding this very difficult to get from the manual. Steve
  6. Thanks to all for the feedback. I cancelled my order and reordered from a reputable outfit! I feel like I just avoided a "Cliff"!!! Thanks again.
  7. I recently ordered a 60 Csx from Broadway Photo. I got an Email saying I had to call them to confirm my order and discovered that what they were selling is an "overseas" unit. They want $30 to sell me a warranty for the USA which I assume will not be from Garmin. They also tried to sell me batteries and a charger for what appeared to be a very high price. Is this a common occurence? I don't think I want to mess around with a foreign model in case of a problem down the line. But perhaps this is the norm? I'd appreciate feedback on this and also the names of vendors who sell genuine US models. Thanks, Steve
  8. Yes, I just saw that. Which leads to my next question. Which accessories? I was considering City Navigator NT. (I'm not sure if that comes as a DVD or on a card) Would I need any additional maps for Geo Caching? Would you reccomend a larger memory card than what comes with the unit? T
  9. I was looking at the 60Csx as a possibility so that is in my price range. Also, should I get a separate card? And what software do you reccomend both for Geo and Road use? Thanks, Steve
  10. I am interested in starting Geo-Caching and have found the multitude of choices available confusing. I would like a decent GPS unit to get me going. If possible I'd like it to also be useful for navigation in my car. Thanks, Steve Silberman
  11. What new goodies do these units offer?
  12. I am looking at the Garmin GPS 60Cx and 60CSx also the 76Cx and 76CSx I wonder if someone can highlight the differences between these models? They seem to have a ton of features and I haven't been able to pick out the differences. Thanks, Stephen
