Well I can't speak for everyone else but as I am a police officer and three of my fellow officers have been shot by terrorists in the last month I carry my sidearm wherever I can. I would imagine that many people in the US who can carry firearms do so at all times, not just while caching.

Being in the UK I cannot carry my pistol at all times. When I do then it is IWB strong side and a Glock 17. I have an Emerson CQC7 IWB on the other side.
