  1. My retrieve from logs are encrypting too. I deleted the first log and it still shows "in my hands". Is this a bug and will there be a fix soon? Edit...I just discovered that a note is also encrypted. I also unchecked the encryption box and all is well.
  2. You are welcome. I hope you are happy with the end result. Lowrance Pro Staffer, just trying to keep the facts on Endura straight.
  3. First of all, I love my Endura and have been using it for over 2 years. I experienced a couple of firmware issues, but was taken care of by Lowrance customer support very satisfactorily. Since you are not a premium member you can only download .LOC files. I noticed that joesdolphins mentioned Pocket Queries, however PQs are a Geocaching.com PM benefit, as is paperless caching. If you have software version 1.4 or 1.5.1 you should be able to load the .LOC file from cache page. v1.5 did not allow for .LOC files, so if your unit came with that version you should install 1.5.1. Endura 1.5.1 enhancement
  4. Since these questions are beyond my of my area of expertise I have sent a copy of this post to the appropriate departments at Lowrance and am waiting for a response. Thank you
  5. I have an Endura Safari with Turn-by-turn that has voice directions and you can choose between map view or a directions list. You can switch between the map card and topo card. I have been happy with their technology and now with the latest software upgrade, I am a huge fan. It has full paperless caching capability, a slot for a micro HD card and logging fieldnotes is easy. I saw it recently Amazon for $196. (map card is separate). I paid alot more that that 1 year ago. I also have a Sierra and love it as well, but it is more spendy.
  6. I have a Verizon Droid X2 and use c:geo opensource(free) and Neongeo apps ($4+). Both work fine, but I like the neongeo best. (Less buggy and quick to fix) It is nice to have the phone in a pinch, but I still use my Endura Sierra with Geocaching.com PQ's and GSAK 99% of the time.
  7. quote name='hoovertx4' timestamp='1307682102' post='4738074'] How can you tell which software version is on your lowrance endra safari. I just got it today and I dont have a micre sd card yet. Hold down MENU for about 5 seconds. By the way, did you know that the Endura has a recent upgrade, V1.5. Lots of good stuff. Endura V1.5
  8. Sorry ... replied to the post above instead of below. Trying again .... "Save to GPS" does not work with Lowrance units. Instead, use the "GPX File" button to save the .gpx file to your PC. Then drag and drop or copy/paste to the GPX folder on the Endura. Even better, create a Pocket Query with many (but <=500) caches and drop the entire GPX file onto the unit. (This requires Premium Membership on geocaching.com.) Good luck. Check out the newest upgrade for the Endura,(V1.5). It is the most comprehensive enhancement to date, and it includes an increased GPX file size, which can hold up to 4000 caches. Endura V1.5
  9. Check out the just released V1.5 update. Most comprehensive upgrade to date. Endura V1.5
  10. Did you get your question answered satisfactorily? Also, have you installed V 1.5 update that was launched on July 15th? Endura V1.5
  11. I have an HP G71-340US Notebook. I bought it new in fall of 2009. Its got Windows 7 (64-bit)...don't know if that last part is relevant. I am NOT technologically inclined so I'm not sure if this is all the information that you requested. Please let me know if you need to know more. THANK YOU. Did you get your questions answered satisfactorily?
  12. I am a newby when it comes to replying to a thread so I tried to show the previous post and add to it, but I did something wrong. What I want to let followers of this thread and Lowrance Endura owners know is that Lowrance has not stopped supporting the Endura line. In fact, yesterday, 7/15, they released V1.5 update. It is the most comprehensive enhancement so far. I downloaded it to my Endura Sierra last night and tested it today. What a difference. I have always liked a lot of the features of the unit and have used it now for about 2 years. It seems like a new product now. I used it this morning to find a multicache, which I couldn't do previously. Now the waypoint function does not stop navigating at 40 feet. It got me to 1 ft from GZ (with a 10 ft estimated proximity). It starts up faster and is more responsive to your touch. Check it out. I think you will like it. V 1.5 update
  13. I downloaded and installed the V1.5 on my Endura Sierra last night and took it out for a test drive this morning. What an improvement, the best upgrade to date. I entered a waypoint and it got me to within 1 ft. of GZ. Also the graphics are easier to see in bright sunlight. It started up faster and seemed to collect the satellites quicker too. I also turned of the "destination reached" option. I liked that alot too. Anybody who has a Lowrance Endura and gave up on it should load it with the V1.5 and give it another chance. I am sure you will go back to using it. Try it, you'll like it.
