Have you logged them as found yet? If so run a new PQ and check the box that says "that I haven't found". Delete the current PQ from the unit and then download the new PQ.
If you haven't logged them yet I don't know how to do it unless you go back over all of them and list them as found again so they go into the field note file.
They were all previously marked as found. Just now that I have deleted them they don't show up as found. If I delete the old .gpx and download a new one with "that I haven't found" what happens to my record of the old caches?
It sounds to me like you are saying that you have not logged the caches you found as found on the geocaching.com site? If so, then replacing the PQ will not work because geocaching.com has no record of you finding them.
Take a look at the geocache_logs.xml file in the Garmin folder of your GPS. You might be able to copy and paste that text into the geocache_visits file then do some editing to get your found caches logged using your field notes.

Good one! Forgot about the version of Mac Garmin Communicator that didn’t work so make sure you have the latest version of Communicator if using Mac.

I’m guessing that the gpx files are loaded but the GPS internal registry is corrupt and ignoring some gpx files. Try connecting GPS to computer to remove all gpx files from gpx folder in the GPS and start the GPS with no gpx files to wipe the internal registry clean. Shutdown the GPS, connect to computer and put the gpx files back in the gpx folder. Now the GPS should display all caches. I recommend keeping your gpx files on your external memory so you can do this easily in the field. Simply remove the microSD to remove the gpx files. No computer needed.

How often does he calibrate the compass? The compass needs to be calibrated at every battery change since the batteries affect compass calibration.

Probably an etrex 30 since the compass seems to be the major bug lately.

A hard master reset might bring it back.

Are the GPX files of the PQ in the GPX folder? Sounds like you loaded the PQ as waypoints and not Geocaches. Just put the 2 GPX files of the PQ in the Garmin/GPX folder and you are done. No need to use MapSource. Also, Garmin has not made a 62Cx.

Connect GPS to computer and remove all GPX files in GPX folder. Boot up GPS with no GPX files. This will clean out the GPX internal registry in the GPS. Put the GPX files back in the GPX folder and reboot GPS. Caches should be back.

I doubt you’ll find any. Since the repair labor will cost at least $50/hour you can only buy a couple hours of labor for the cost of a Garmin exchange. Most people don’t take this into consideration when they think Garmin is raping them by charging $100 to exchange a $200 GPS. Most GPS’s, because of their low replacement cost, are BER (Beyond Economical Repair).

Don’t laugh, I was in Kansas City 2 weeks ago and Garmin is advertising for Engineer’s over the radio.

I’ve had the compass calibration fail on me on one of the newer Garmin’s but can’t remember which one. Turned out I couldn’t calibrate the compass when the GPS was navigating to a cache. As soon as I stopped navigation it calibrated correctly.

Did you create a Garmin folder on the microSD, make a GPX folder in that Garmin folder and put the 2 uncompressed GPX files from the PQ in the GPX folder? The GPS only looks for GPX files in the Garmin/GPX folder.

Use it for all PQ's.
The paperless Garmin’s have all suffered from this issue. The GPS parses and creates an internal file of the PQ’s at startup. That is why it takes so long to startup after adding new PQ’s. Occasionally, the GPS gets a hold of some GPX data that it gets confused and ignores or sometimes locks up. All caches are registered in the internal file but some or all do not load. The GPS looks for new GPX data during startup. The missing caches are in the internal file. The GPS sees them as old, existing caches and will not load. The caches must be removed from the internal file to make the GPS see them as new and load. This internal file is not accessible. The GPS will rewrite this internal file with “nothing” if you remove all GPX files and restart. So if you keep all your PQ’s on your external memory (microSD) by removing the external memory you remove all the GPX files. Now you can shutdown, replace memory and restart. All caches are seen as new and will load.

All has been fine apart from sometimes we have switched it on and it said no GPX found??? Still not found that cure for when it does that apart from reloading the PQ into it, though you cannot do that in the field.
Very easy to fix in the field if you keep your PQ’s on the external memory. Shutdown GPS, remove external memory, startup GPS, shutdown GPS, replace external memory and startup GPS.

World Wide Base Map. This is a very basic low detail map only showing major highways. You must either purchase detail maps for your area or download free Garmin compatible maps off the web.

User waypoints zoom setting? Setup>Map>Advanced Map Setup>Zoom Levels>User Waypoints.

My Montana shows caches found on the calendar. This is not a feature I ever used nor would I want to when field notes do this and so much more. I just went a span of about 6 weeks of caching without time to log. I periodically uploaded the field notes and just got the time last week to log the couple hundred caches in my field notes.
-
That is the best place to keep them because you can recover your caches when your GPSr crashes on startup without the use of a computer. You need to create a Garmin/GPX folder and put the PQ’s in the GPX folder.

I have one. It’s in good condition and works. I just put some batteries in it and tried it. It has a USA aviation data base loaded on it instead of cities. How about $20 shipped if you are in the USA.

Is your heading set to bearing or course? Should be set to bearing. Do you calibrate the compass every time the batteries are changed?
-
Why are you using EasyGPS? No 3rd party program is necessary. Either drag & drop or copy & paste the 2 gpx files from your PQ into the /Garmin/GPX folder in your GPS or memory card. If your PQ is a compressed Zip file just right click, “WinZip” and “extract to” the /Garmin/GPX folder. PQ are only overwritten if they have the same names.

A hard reset should get the base map back. Hold down ENTER + PAGE then POWER.
-
That’s because a Garmin GPSMAP 62 does not have a compass to calibrate. You would have to have a 62s, 62sc, 62st or 62stc which have an electronic compass to need calibrated.
Am I doing something wrong?
