I wonder where this guy is storing all these CDs? When he has 1,000,000 what does he plan on doing with them? He must have some obsessive compulsive disorder!

Robert, The site addresses this issue "Once we have 1,000,000 collected, we will make our quest across America to give them all back to their rightful owner, AOL and say "stop doing this". " Now that might make a huge cache!

  2. I'm not promoting any specific merchant, just the concept.

I am often frustrated that we have this technology to navigate to any point on the earth within 20 feet, however most of the population still relies on an antiquated system of streets and inconsistant numbering system.

We now see the advertising cross marketing with websites, why do not include waypoints?

  3. icon_razz.gifI have been following a thread that mentioned the "Tim Horton's Location Project" and was wondering if it was an effort to locate by waypoint all the Horton Franchises?

I have had thoughts it would be great if more retail companies would list their GPS locs. I have been compiling a list of my own, but with the proliferation of GPS equipment I would think that such outlets, especially franchises would make this info available to the public.

Does anyone know of such data by any retail chains?

  4. As one of the former threads states, just following the rules stated on the main page

    http://www.geocaching.com/articles/requirements.asp

will go a long way to getting a quick approval. In the old days, there was very little checking done by a small crew. I found out about a mistake I made on a Niagara Falls cache when a Canadian cacher emailed me that the cache locs placed it in the middle of the river at the base of the falls. No one including the Cache approvers even noticed! icon_rolleyes.gif

Although the vast majority of each restaurant's Canadian outlets are still 'stand alone', there are a few up here which have the tandem 'Wendy's/Tim Horton's' arrangement you describe (...which is a good thing, since there aren't nearly enough calories in a Wendy's triple-bacon-cheeseburger as it is).

That TBCB is an Adkin's dream food, that is if you throw away the bun. Can't saw that I know a lot about the Horton menu, is it fast food mixed with donuts?

Here in Utah some of us cachers keep the Wendy's locs handy for a quick bite before grabbing the next cache. It maybe the attraction of that cheap $USD 0.99 menu. icon_eek.gif

Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long ago. Which brings me to something I've been curious about just because I think about lame things like this all the time. Up there in Canada do they have the combo stores with Wendy's and Tim Horton's? Down here they're starting to pop up all over. You can walk into one building that contains Wendy's on one half and Tim Horton's on the other. I usually don't have occasion to get up into Canada much.

    Mr O,

This is news to me, first we take their Hockey Teams and now Tim Hortons. Are these just located in Ohio or are they in the surounding states?

I still use both, but it depends on where I'm hiding them.

I've searched for nearly an hour to find a 30 Cal box when it is hidden flat on the ground covered with leaves. They're great!

Someone in my area left an AOL sign up disc, who hasn't got millions of these? why would anyone want another? The person was new, and I assume they will figure it out eventually, I hope so anyway. I leave stuff, but don't take (so far anyway, only have 14 finds).

This is exactly my point, maybe because he was new. But after 14 finds it time to wake up and realize everyone has enough of these AOL coasters (I hear they are good to scare the birds away from the pool!)

  9. icon_wink.gif I have traveled extensivly with my GPS without ever being questioned. With all the electronic devices now being used this is just one more. You may have to turn it on for the screeners, but it appears to be nothing more than another cell phone type device to the screeners.
  10. I can't say much for or against his donuts, but I do recall his talent as a a Leaf defenseman and 4 Cups! His final years were with Buffalo as he helped anchor the defense with the "French Connection" line with his "bear hug" techniques before his untimely death in a car accident the mid 70's.

Now where he learned to make a donut is beyond me, it's hard to believe that anything could beat a Krispy Kreme! icon_biggrin.gif

As far as trade items, I like them. I enjoy the experience of finding the box and anticipating what is inside (though it is usually junk). A lot of us TNLN largely because there is nothing in a cache worth taking. Personally I think we geocachers should upgrade our cache contents, rather than eliminate them.

I can not rememeber a cache that has been out longer than 3 months that has anything but junk, I just prefer the logs and signature/travel items.

  12. I am looking for opinions on the continuing trend for caches becoming home for broken fast food toys and junk drawer trinkets. For me the prime attraction of a cache hunt is limited to the search, reading the logbook and possibly moving a signature item, Tbug or WG dollar. Further I speculate that we would not be raising the ire of local civil defense and public park personnel if more caches were contained in a film canister or Altoids box rather than the now common ammo box or bread loaf sized Tupperware containers.

I realize the toys are a draw for our younger cachers, however possibly the young ones could be lured into the sport by other means.

    Just food for thought....
