  1. I have the Sony CLIE PEG-TH55 which I think is very similar to yours. However, I am in the same boat as you. I am trying to figure out the best way to use what I have and the best software to use to make them interact with one another the best. My equipment is the PDA mentioned above for paperless caching, Garmin eTrex for the trails, a Lowrance iway 500c in the car to get me there and finally a toshiba laptop to act as mission control. I have also installed the following software: EasyGPS and Cachemate. I am still learning how to use this software. Up until now, I have been manually entering waypoints on the Garmin and the Lowrance for each and every cache (takes a lot of time).
  2. OK, this is getting silly, I have called about 20 stores that are listed on GARMIN's web site as distributors, yet NOBODY carries any accessories for my little cheap GARMIN eTrex (yellow). I can however order this serial cable from GARMIN online and pay shipping and possibably tax, then I also will have to buy a serial to USB adaptor. If I am able to find these cables locally (looking doubtful at this point), the total bill for two cables will be more than I paid for my GPS unit. Since it looks like I will have to order at least one of these online, that jacks the price up even more. My plea to all of you is this... Does anyone have an extra or old Garmin eTrex PC cable lying around that they don't use or need anymore and would part with it for a reasonable and realistic price?
  3. I joined geocaching.com a couple months ago and I have over 30 cache finds under my belt now. I have also created my own cache and logged it online. I have even gained experience with travel bugs and geocoins. I am really happy with this new found hobby. I use it as a good way to exercise (hiking) and I was already a motorcyclist, so I am combining those two hobbies by using my bike to get me around from cache to cache. Now for my delimma... I have what I think is plenty of equipment to perform the hobby well, but I feel I may still be doing too many things manually and that I might be able to streamline it more. Basically, my fingers are sore from manually inputting waypoints into two GPS units. Here is a list of the eqipment I have: Portable GPS unit: Garmin eTrex Automotive GPS: Lowrance iWay500C PDA: Sony Clie PEG-TH55 From reading a few articles and postings online, I get the impression that I may have the ability to go "paperless"as well since I own a PDA. Please keep in mind that my experience and knowledge is slowly growing with all these devices, but I still consider myself a novice using them all. I'd like to get input from all you experienced cachers out there about the software and practices you use for importing waypoints into your GPS units from the web site (so your fingers dont get so sore) as well as software and practices for using my PDA to go paperless.
